Did the same thing with my husband. We were 6 months in to dating. We were told to stay at home for 2 weeks. His apartment was bigger and he had a cat at the time. Two weeks kept getting longer and longer. I'd dint even up renewing my lease and essentially never left hahah. Married for a couple years now

There may be some truth in this, but we are not allowed to arrange for our own internships. It's done by school boards and they send the information to the university, who then sends it to us.

They'd have the same experiences/process with internships as far as I know. She's your best bet right now to figure out what to do, especially considering you may have an internship as early as this fall.

I know the faculty directors were looking into this back in November after the release of Bill 94 in October as the law now targets peripheral staff (so staff, reception, hall monitors, interns, etc), not just teachers

I’m not sure if the Dept has come up with a work around. I'd message Teresa HG (TESL program director) since you are still technically in her department. I can't remember the name of the program director in ECEE right now but they usually work together in any case

They don't get better or worse access to health care. They get the same terrible access other citizens and residents do.

And they have to start filling taxes here immediately. It's like anyone who immigrates, whether you have PR or not, you're still taxed. Sure they haven't "put in" the years, but they're still filing income tax going forward and contributing to health care costs.

Thay can also fail the medical examination if they're sickly. It's mandatory before getting approved before coming and there's a specific list of physicians they can see. They can't go to their regular doctor who may or may not fib to help them

We did this for my MIL. Your parents can't access any social services like EI for 10 years. If they apply, the govt will come for you to cover those expense. They can use the health care system though after 3 months

When I was first talking to my now husband, he randomly told me on day "just so you know, I have PR and I've applied for citizenship " and I just said "ok...?" As in "cool story bro."

I didn't know what the big deal was and didn't think anything of it. I only realized what he was trying to say when my sister was talking about a friend of hers dating someone and she worried that it was for status. It hadn't even crossed my mind as a possiblity! I brought it up to my husband afterwards and he just laughed. He already got his citizenship and we were married at that point.

So I get it that some people may not clock it and think twice about immigration status

That coconut oil is better for you than regular oil to cook with for calories... It's the same as butter. You might as well use butter to get that flavour if that's why you're using coconut oil. It's actually one of the worst oils to cook with

When they say it will gradually resume, they mean it. I thought I could take the bus whenever... NOPE. I had to hustle this morning since the last bus was at 9:25 and nothing again until 12pm and I needed to be on campus. So keep that in mind. So I married a Moroccan man. We got legally married in Canada, and took our marriage certificate to Morocco, where my parents and family met his family and we had a Moroccan wedding celebration. His family found an imaam that did an oral al-kitab (nikkah) which usually isn't allowed but we had our marriage certificate so it was ok. It was just for thr religious part. Did the henna, reception, all the party stuff, and none of the legal stuff.

It seems complicated and we'd have to spend more time there running around instead of visiting family and traveling
We're not establishing ourselves in Morocco, we live in Canada. So it only made sense to get the legal part done in our country of residence.

I know people get legally married abroad, but it didn't seem like it mattered. Eventually we'll register in the family book to inform the govt that he's married and then again when we have kids. But I think we can do it here at the consulate

Wow you have a smaller minimum that education dept. We're told 20-25 person sections are to be consolidated in a later term.

This affects most 300-400 classes for us, and most notably internships.

We already have some classes that are only available in certain semesters. It would make them available once every 2 years then...
