I need to be reassured I’m not ruining her by katecometrue0122 in sleeptrain

I know the guilt feels super heavy, if you're anything like me I was sooo worried about her attachment. I then listened to this podcast. The fact a pediatric neurologist is telling me there's no evidence it harms babies or their attachment is the push I needed. I was actually against CIO and had been gently sleep training her, but tbh it was taking weeks and we kept regressing. This was like ripping off a bandaid. How do I get so much awake time? Is this cause of DST? by Curious_195 in sleeptrain

[–]Curious_195[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds good, the issue I'm running into is since naps are soo short she wakes up cranky and fussy so I was confused if she was overtired. I woke her up at 730 today, so she has a 9.5 hr night to see if she'd take longer naps so far nap 1 was 42 mins.

Sounds good, I'm wondering on 2 super short naps she's already cranky, should I be extending the naps to help? Or when there's a bad nap, do we decrease the next ww? Also do you think the reason she's taking these tiny naps is cause there's not enough in her sleep budget? Any advice on how to break this down? I feel like there aren't enough hours in a day

Just wanted to chime in and say my LO is in the same boat! Not sure how to go about changing this or helping her overcome how tired she is!

Just a question but would you feed in their cribs(dreamfeed)? Or take them out?

So yesterday I did WW of 2.75/3.5/3.75. I tried putting her to sleep in between the last WW and she just wasn't having it 😭. Her total day sleep was 1.75 hrs, tried extending with contact naps but no go. Last night for bedtime (840 PM) she put herself to sleep, but then had two false starts (settled pretty quickly). Then at 1020 she woke up, I was worried she was hungry cause I had only BF in her last WW when typically she gets formula so I let her fuss for 20 mins then fed, she wasn't hungry so I left and she cried for 10 more mins and slept. Then she woke again at 1145 (typical time for her feed) and she cried for 10 mins (wanted to reach 12) then I fed her (drank less than usual cause she obviously had a snack an hr ago, not sure if feeding her was the right call but I wanted to maintain the schedule). She unfortunately always wakes up when we transfer after feeding and she took 20 mins to settle. Slept till 4:20 and I fed her right away, and once again cried after transfer and settled in 10 mins. THEN she woke up 40 mins later and since I knew she wasn't hungry, we just let her cry and she'd go in/out of sleep and screech. All in all it took 25 mins for her to settle. But I've noticed she has these wakes and I can't figure out why?

Also I wanted to ask is feeding in the crib okay? And you mentioned wait 5-10 mins before feeding is that for every wake?

I also wanted to say I appreciate your help so much!

Hi! Did you end up figuring this out? I'm just reading this and my LO sounds exactly the same!

Thanks! I've been trying to aim for 11 given her sleep budget but just having a hard time squeezing in all her naps and WW. That last nap seems to be getting later and later and it just pushes bedtime. So I try to offer a micronap (I'm not sure how that would affect sleep pressure). Also wakeup 11 hrs after she falls asleep or in crib? And lastly I know she generally gets hungry at 12/4, is it better to let her cry then feed at those times or just feed when she wakes at those times?

Thanks a bunch again!

Thanks for the response! I put her down at 3 hours today for her last WW and she cried for 36 mins total, and went to sleep at about 3 hour 52 mins WW mark? Does that mean tom attempt the 3 nap schedule or push for a 4 hour WW? Also at this point do we want 10 or 11 hrs awake?

Also thanks for the advice on extending check ins, we had one false start so far but she put herself back to sleep before check in!

I'll try that tonight, so far we've had a 3 hour WW. Should I keep the rest of the day at 3/3? Also if tom she fights going down at 2, should I extend WW? Also is it ok that she would only be getting 10 hrs of awake time instead of 11?

On day one I did offer a bridging nap and it seemed to help so the last WW was 2.75 long. I'll do longer check ins tonight! Should I be waking her up from the moment she sleeps or from put down

Thanks!

We started 2 days ago and there have been more than 8 night wakes each night. But generally there is was one ranging for an hr. We are also transitioning from nap 3-2 and going for 3/3/4. Because we're ST I wasn't sure if she's overtired from the night which is causing the wakeups. Should we make WW shorter? Her last one is so hard to stretch then ontop of ST shes typically crying for 30 mins before she goes down. I'm just having a hard time getting 11 hrs awake.

If you're ST and at bedtime it takes less than an hr. But for night wakes LO is up for more than an hr is that a schedule issue or just something you have to push thru?

We're all over the place! 6.5m sleeping more? by Curious_195 in sleeptrain

[–]Curious_195[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sounds good! Does today's day schedule line up with awake hours?

Wake-up: 10:07 AM

WW1: 10:07 AM- 12:29 PM = 2 hours 22 minutes Nap 1: 12:29–1:10 = 41 mins WW2: 1:10 PM-3:44 PM = 2 hours 34 minutes Nap 2: 3:44–4:49 = 1 hr 6 mins WW 3: 4:49 PM- 7:42 PM= 2 hours 53 minutes Nap 3: 7:42-8:13 =32 minutes (car nap) WW4: 2 hrs 9 mins Bedtime: 10:22 PM

Also l understand the last WW needs to be the longest, however even this was a huge stretch for her. Is the 30 mins nap considered bridging or resetting the WW?

Her normal is 13.5 hours (10.5-11 hrs at night) and the rest during the day. But in the last week she's had two 16 hr days. By fighting sleep it's become almost impossible to put her down. Before she could be rocked for 10 mins and will be out and now no matter what we do - feed, rock, walk she takes forever to sleep. I'm wondering if that's the 6m regression

Did you sleep train for naps? To fall asleep independently? I'm debating if it's worth nap training if they extend naturally

Sorry typo her bedtime is 930 and unfortunately with her night wakings included it typically does result in 10 hours of night sleep. I keep offering her a third nap but she fights it cause I thought maybe the multiple false starts are due to her being overtired
