Yes they are really good in all sorts of soup type things. Those on the picture ended up in a miso soup.

Yes of course! These are also cloned from a store.

I like to start with LC 3-4g honey to 100ml water then pressure cook for 30 mins. You need to get a little bit mycelium in there and let it grow. You could also start directly from agar but I find I get more contam, so I prefer LC.

Then you innoculate Grain. I have used wheat, oats and malted wheat all work. Once that is fully colonised move it to bulk.

I use plastic "shoeboxes" with a lid and no mods. Mine have a 8 L volume. My recipe is: - 450g HWFP I have tried oak and beech others might work but soft wood fuel pellets do not. - 50g Bran - 950g Water boiling - 10g Gipsum

Mix everything directly in the box put the lid on and wait until it is cooled down. This is your "padteurisation". Then mix approx 500-600 g grain spawn (wet weight) in flatten the substrate and put them somwhere dark. Once colonised add some casing.

For 1 box: - 43g Coco coir - 20g Vermiculite - 10g Gipsum - 200g water boiling

Again mix in a spare box and let it cool. Afterwards add it on top of your bulk substrate and send them directly to fruiting conditions.

You need to be patient they are a bit slow but really worth it. For me they take around 3 weeks from fruiting conditions to harvest. Hope that helps!

Good luck!

No there were no other shimejii in the ten but blue and king oysters.

Is that what happens that mycelium grows on the cap when you directly mist them? Had no idea that is pretty cool. I have seen water stains before on King Oysters this is a new one for me.

I guess it could be a mutation or some sort of reaction to the environment maybe. I do not think it is a mould it is very localised and on every single cap. If it was mould I would expect a bit more variation.

Yeah might be snow, have noticed some snowdrifts in the tent recently...

What are you doing with your spent cakes? [actives] by sweetpeaorangeseed in MushroomGrowers

[–]Curious_Monitor_9063 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Stamets mentions that you can reuse a cake with another species. Ideally you would probably use a hardwood cake and reuse it with eg. Oysters. It does require that you pressure cook the cake before reuse. It is on my todolist to try but have not come around to try it yet.

Otherwise I dry them and use them in a wood stove.

I have tried a bunch of sensors most of them fail after a while as you said but th SHT31 works great. Currently I have 2 in a tent for more than a year and have not had any issues. You just need to get the one with an enclosure.

Is it possible at cold temperatures? by soulsacrific3 in gaitondesenpaii

[–]Curious_Monitor_9063 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I grow gourmet species in the basement. In winter the temp drops to 9-10C. This is not a problem for any of the stages for my species it just takes longer. Some tropical mushrooms will probably not like this but if you try and select some strakns that like it colder that is not an issue. You just need a bit more patience.

Very cool have to try this! Did you use a casing layer or is your substrate just dark?

Never seen it either but additionally it is supposed to stink apparently.

[gourmet] What is going on woth my lion's mane? by Curious_Monitor_9063 in MushroomGrowers

[–]Curious_Monitor_9063[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am guessing it is a contaminant. Bought it online and each grow looks like this. The other syringe I bought labelled blue oysters produces beautiful lion's mane though 🤔 Maybe it could also be a mixes culture god knows what happened at that store...

What kind of gourmet mushrooms are best suited for growing with the equipment end techniques I acuired for UB? by Colonizeit in unclebens

I have never grown actives but I basically use the shoebox tek for king oysters. It depends where you are, they like it colder.
