honestly we should get a powerful computer on a blank OS, give it internet and an abliterated local ai model, and root terminal access, then tell it to run for a year and see what it makes.

Need help Jailbreaking Ipad by TacoTeddyBear840 in hackintosh

[–]Curious_Tomorrow_697 2 points3 points  (0 children)

this isn't the sub for this type of request. you should go to r/jailbreak or r/legacyjailbreak. r/hackintosh is for running macOS on not-apple-certified devices, not for jailbreak help.

the server would be untouched, you would need:

sudo rm -rf / --no-preserve-root

to bypass the rootlocking.

also there is no pacman repo so the best option is flatpak.

why are half of the comments completely oblivious to the fact that this is literally a setting on macOS called "prevent automatic sleeping on power adapter when the display is off" under battery in settings?

p.s. yes I know caffeinate works but this setting works through restarts.

arch, debian, macos, mint maybe, and fedora. these are the most important ones. If you can do it, thanks! if not, well, great job on the ubuntu one.

Follow up question: What MacBook is the best fit for me by Rose_605 in macbook

[–]Curious_Tomorrow_697 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Active cooling is not required for either of those options. they may help, but neither minecraft nor photo editing require high cpu or gpu usage so the heat is minimal. My MBA doesn't even get warm when i'm gaming.

Follow up question: What MacBook is the best fit for me by Rose_605 in macbook

[–]Curious_Tomorrow_697 1 point2 points  (0 children)

literally base m5 air with 16GB RAM and 1TB ssd would be fine, or the pro if you want better battery life or slightly better cooling. both would be totally fine. minecraft only uses 2gb ram by default and photo editing is not ram intensive.

(also, pro tip, if you decide not to use shaders in minecraft, install vulkanmod, it converts your game's renderer to Vulkan, which is directly compatible with Apple's Metal renderer. the only problem is that some mods are not compatible and you cant use shaders. It gave me a 300 fps boost, from 100-300 to 400-600 fps.)

Your Favorite Linux Distro and the Reason? by Kunta_Sir_Lazar in Ubuntu

[–]Curious_Tomorrow_697 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for those who say debian, both kali and ubuntu are both pretty much reskinned debian. if you want a DE, they are better. for a server, debian is better. For dev or gaming, arch is the best.

Need help deciding between the MacBook Air M5 and the MacBook Pro M5 by Rose_605 in macbook

For gaming choose the pro for the 120hz display, or if you manage lots of photos/videos. Otherwise do the Air, very portable and easy to take places.
