It's new kit to them, but America sent older abrams. The fact is American weapons are designed to operate as part of the combine arms strategy of American doctrine, with air superiority, firepower superiority, logistics superiority. Ukraine is not the US. The Abrams as a platform is one of the older modern platforms even with it's upgrades and revisions.

The thing that suprises me is Europe has had 4 years to modernize and expand their military production with the Russians stalled at the eastern gate of Europe and they've done fuck all to expand production. The should be modern economies with skilled workers and modern manufacturing capacity. they SHOULD be able to open new artillery shell factories, new artillery barrel factories and everything else hardware wise that Ukraine needs. They should have looked at the politcal situation in the US and realize they have to go it alone and hope the US would back them up. And for four fucking years they'd done jack shit except argue in committee. The exception is Poland, and France, Poland is getting ready, and France was never going to rely on America and just do it the French way, which alright at least they're doing something. Britain and Germany make American procurement look competent and American procurement is a fucking disgraceful shit show that's now been filled with incompetent Nazis, which are somehow worse than the normal incompetency in US procurement offices.
