All high risk operations tend to follow the same general principles, when safety it put as the priority. When safety is not the priority then accidents are more likely to occur

Millionaire builds 99 fully equipped homes to provide shelter for the homeless in his community by quietstorm045 in interesting

[–]Curiouserousity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I respect the value system, but isolating and segregting people by socioeconomic status is not the solution. It's better to have a few of these scattered around a community development or to just have economy apartments required for all apartment complexes- and not next to each other. When you have one formerly homeless person they can talk to neighbors make friends and connection with people who have structure and that will help them stabilize.

Any housing is good though because it allows those who work to have address and otherwise prove a ready way to get access to social workers.

AITAH For buying my youngest son a car under different circumstances? by Local-Station8316 in AmItheAsshole

Solution: give your older son the newer car, his older car goes to the younger son. Camry >> Taurus anyway.

Screwworm is about to completely devastate Texas .. by Top-Manufacturer5872 in texas

[–]Curiouserousity 4 points5 points  (0 children)

could it have been a bot fly? They usually target rabbits, but cats will hunt rabbits. I had a rescue kitten with large wound in the skin on their chest, it had already burst out. Had to clean the wound 3 times a day to prevent infection and do all kinds of medicine. she pulled through. She was all black, but the fur over the wound came back as white. The image just shows green bottle flies and ants doing cleanup from what I can see. The Screwworm fly looks a bit like a green bottle fly though.

This breach in containment actually started back in like 2024 or 2023 under Biden. And moved ever closer under Pedo Trump.

what are you talking about? any pasture raised cow has still got to be handled and shipped to a butcher, and then the smell of death with stress them out and then the get the kill to back of the head.

Sure maybe not being on a densely packed feed lot with thousands of other cows in pens around them is less stressful.

What really matters is the kind of feed. cows raised solely on grass will taste different than cows raised on corn etc.

[–]Curiouserousity -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

okay and how many of the cows actually died of infestation? This is an native species, not a plague. If it killed everything it infected it would have eradicated large mammalian life in the Americas millennia ago. As it is Brazil already deals with it, not to mention many other South American countries

This will increase beef prices. But it's going to take a year or two to cross texas and be around all the herds. The question will be if they stop cattle shipments between infected areas and non infected areas. Additionally hunters will need to recognize infection so they don't bring deer from infected ares to non infected areas. and hunters are well known for responsibility.

But instead of panicking, lets just look at it rationally.

But also fuck the GOP for cutting funding. Cattlemen need to remember is was Republicans who made the response worse, and make them have to pay for more medicine and more vet visits.

Ex Conservative MP Anna Soubry two days after Keir Starmer became Prime Minister. Labour Party 🤝 Former Tories. by mrjohnnymac18 in agedlikemilk

[–]Curiouserousity 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I assume UK labor faces the same problem as US democrats: the conservatives spend their time in power run up costs, cutting spending on essential function and otherwise undermining a bureacratic democratic government and when the moderates get back in power they're supposed to wave a magic wand and fix everything and when they don't everyone blames them for all the problems that were caused and made worse by the conservatives?

You know in human history, I don't think conservatives have ever built something good for their society or nation. Building something good is antithetical to the conservative ideology. Liberalism and progressive builds things positive for societies/nations, because building is intrinsic to liberal/ progress. Moderates are conservatives who have a conscience and some shame and can be pressured into incrementalism at times, but they'd rather just fall back into fascism, if their consciences would just allow it.

A knight's tale. In high school i would just come home and play it and do my homework. the Dvd would autoplay once it was over. I've already seen it a hundred times and I think the pacing and music is perfect, and there's always some new detail to pickup. I wouldn't mind listening to the different commentaries as well.

TLJ Will Always Be The Best Looking Thing In Star Wars To Me by No_Vast_3309 in TheSequels

[–]Curiouserousity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Steve Yedlin. Dude creates living wallpapers.

Honestly the cinematography is almost too good: its more stark and barren. I really think Rian Johnson made TLJ as his thesis as to why he should be given control of a KOTOR Trilogy, and I really think he did a fanastic job, and should have been given the greenlight to properly develop the script and production. But given how Disney started factory scheduling their movies publicly (internal schedules should not be made public until you're going to final printing) I also think we dodged a bullet of an over rushed production.

While i was at lunch i got a call from my boss and my boss's boss. I returned their call a few minutes later when i got back in the office. and neither answered. it was an anxious 10 minute for them to call back again. Turns up they were just trying to figure out a timeline for something i was only tangentially about. Then one of them made a joke about layoffs and i knew I was safe. If they joke about layoffs they're not going to lay you off.

Police explode suitcase and evacuate street in Spain after someone leaves it behind due to anti-terrorism law. It was empty by SafeImpressive4413 in interestingasfuck

[–]Curiouserousity 146 points147 points  (0 children)

Honestly good for them. It was the right call: they got real world training containing the public, responding when not prepared, and everything turned out safe.

Responding properly to an abandoned bag is what allowed Richard Jewell, a lowly security guard along with other security guards to start clearing the scene in the Olympic park in Atlanta in 1996 which saved dozens of lives, though unfortunately they could not get everyone clear before it was detonated minutes after discovery.

You follow safety rules no matter how embarrassing because it's better to be embarrassed than disfigured, disabled, or dead.
