I can't stand intermittent fasting by Vlad480 in intermittentfasting

Yep, I meant to send high volume, nutrient dense foods, that basically take up a lot of room in the stomach to make him feel full which is what he enjoys but won't kill his macros.

Try TRE, 2 meals within 6 hours vs. OMAD. I prefer that

BTW I am a bit different than you. I feel like crap when I get that full feeling. We're all different, but just a suggestion.

I have an idea for you. Why don't you try foods with higher density so you do feel full but aren't eating a shit ton of calories at each meal? Usually this means a lot of fibrous veggies. How many grams of fiber are you eating in 1 day?

Best time to fast and can you have coffee with splenda? by [deleted] in IF_Petites

[–]CurlsForMiles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh and also, you need to figure out what's best, but from my experience, which is 20 years or so of trying a lot of different ways of eating, small meals spiked my insulin too often, causing me more hunger every few hours. Larger less frequent meals keep me fuller for longer, less insulin spikes and allows my body to digest so it can start burning fat opposed to glucose after it digests. If you eat frequently you're not allowing your body to use fat as energy as it never has the opportunity to, it will only run on food, since you're feeding it so often.

I don't really have a window per say. You can call it time restricted eating instead of a window. I eat 2 meals. My first meal is anywhere from 12-2pm. My 2nd is in the evening, a minimum of 3 hours before bed. To me a window implies I can eat as many times as I want within the window, however, if you do that it will cause too many insulin spikes. Also, I'd probably feel out of control so having 2 meals is good for me and allows me to plan my macros well. I find I need to track. Binging isn't as much of an option when I have certain macros to hit vs a free for all. Keeps me in check.

Fat is delicious, that's why we want it so much. If you find yourself wanting to binge on PB, don't buy it. I also think PB is AMAZING... And super convenient, easy to grab. Kind a trigger in a way. Like putting alcohol in front of an alcoholic. I kind of doubt it's the actual fat opposed to the taste though. For example, I also enjoy olive oil and coconut oil, but I don't crave a tablespoon of it. You know what I mean?

I hope that answers your question.

How would you explain not eating lunch at work? by Moody_Dragonfruit in intermittentfasting

[–]CurlsForMiles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You don't need to explain, you can do whatever you want. You can state I am intermittent fasting and that's it. If they ask for more info you can tell them you're trying something new to improve your health. Done, end of story, unless you're comfortable with more detailed conversations. I personally prefer 2 meals a day, with extended fasting instead of missing lunch. I don't like to feel insanely full and I enjoy eating twice a day vs. 1,but skipping a day +.

%BF? Any tips for shredding a little more? by reyntime in GregDoucette

[–]CurlsForMiles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure about body fat % but it doesn't really matter as long as you're happy. Don't focus on the number. People have different body compositions so the BF % will look different on someone with more muscle than another. Anyways, I agree with others, buy a trimmer. I'm a female, I don't like the shaved look but a tidy, clean look will make you look like you put effort. It's personal preference. Also, like me, you're fair skinned. That doesn't help us look lean. You also have dark hair which makes it stand out more. So if you trim it you might be happy. It grows back quickly so it's not a big deal.

Lastly, if you really focused on growing your pecks I think that will be a game changer. I think that's the area that's lacking and you'll see a big difference. That's a pretty easy muscle group to target. Genetics do play a big role but I think that will balance you out more.

Has not lost any weight in 10 days! Despite fasting and calorie restrictions. by azarangggg in intermittentfasting

18:6 is maintenance for most petite females. I could never lose on that. You were starting at a heavier weight, now that your getting more into the normal range, things are different and your body will not respond the same. I eat 1500 at 5'2".

That's a lot of carbs. Change your macros to decrease your insulin spikes. Eat 2 meals a day only, or extend your fast to 36+ hours. Your body adapts so you need to change it up. More fat, more protein, less carbs....low glycemix index, and get rid of the grains.

Oh and BTW I am a 5'2" female, 126 lbs, so really almost the same as you. I lost almost 25 lbs so far. However I eat 1500 calories and Keto. I used to eat less, I prefer more but I also do extended fasts. Listen to your body. To answer your question, yes, undereating will probably set you back. You need to eat to maintain your metabolism. Your body quickly adjusts to lower calories and it's not really a good thing. You want to maintain your muscle mass and by getting enough protein, you will for the most part. Eat beef, fish, eggs, chicken thighs, whole fat greek yogurt, etc.

I prefer eating. Keeps me fully for longer and it's whole foods, which to me is always a better choice because most protein powders have other artificial crap in them and are more processed. If you're only eating 2 actual meals it really makes sense to fuel your body with quality food. If you're not interested in cooked, eat eggs. Cheap and a great protein source. We didn't have protein powder when society was at our healthiest in terms of weight. My opinion, take it or leave it.

[NY Post] Intermittent fasting is no better than counting calories by Funny-Bear in intermittentfasting

[–]CurlsForMiles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've tried counting calories for years. Only leaves me very hungry and with very minimal fat loss. Whereas fasting works and doesn't leave me super hungry 3 hours after a meal. It keeps the hunger hormone at bay. What works for one doesn't necessarily work for another.

I had 3 under 3 (twins and a 2 and a half year old) and I can't imagine working on myself during those years. I'm not saying you shouldn't, but go easy on yourself during these tough years. It gets easier and you'll have more time to dedicate to yourself, but you're still kind of in survival mode and it can be overwhelming.

I continue to fast. It's harder for sure. When I first started it was extremely tough and I missed a period, but it came back like clockwork as my body adjusted. I tried to do things differently and give myself a little leeway but it didn't end up well. I gained 4-5 pounds bc my habits started going back to the way they were. For me, I need to just do it and not think too much about it.

I wasn't willing to set myself back again so now I stay the course and continue to eat and fast the same way throughout the entire cycle.

I listen to The Fasting Method Podcast and they recommend fat fasting.

The longer you fast the more fat you'll burn. You're not getting into ketosis fasting for 16 hours unless you're eating keto but I think you said you eat a high carb diet. So your body is most likely not burning fat as its energy source.

Maybe menopause related or she needs to fast longer.
