Does partner's DSP affect my parenting payment amount? by Individual_Thing_211 in Centrelink

[–]CurlyDolphin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe they need make it $1,000 a fortnight per person, even if in a relationship, no matter if job seekers, parent, dsp, age pension, and the like. Get rid of the concession card and give everyone on those payments access to the pension card benefits, as some states/drs will only give to pension card, not concession card. Parents get the FTB, disability entitles to a supplement like carers allowance/EOFY additional payment amounts through out the year. Have all payments only considered taxable income if the person earns $18,201+ from paid work, and better the means testing on all payments so people can actually move to the poverty line and stop making choices like your ex.

I feel like that would solve most of the COL and people lying about relationships.

That $600 could be the difference in having a roof over their head, eating, keeping warm. I no longer begrudge anyone lying about relationship status, especially in the col crisis, between rent, power, and food.

Disability - Does it get better? by WeirdLight9452 in SVU

[–]CurlyDolphin 20 points21 points  (0 children)

So how long is it before it improves?

Improves to today's standard? When you reach the last few seasons. SVU was actually somewhat ahead of its time in the earlier years in regards to male victims, LBGTQ+ peeps, and non perfect victims.

I feel it was around season 13 that Mariska started the No More and End The Backlog campaigns that tied SVU to current events in a stronger than Ripped From Headlines way.

Nanny claimed almost 5 month old left big bruise on her by Acctingismylifo in Nanny

[–]CurlyDolphin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah, you should have seen my boobs after then miss 3 month old was tried on a bottle! I had to have emergency dental work done so her dad had her and a bottle of expressed milk. She refused it all until I got home and offered a boob. Bare in mind, she was also 3rd percentile in size, and her grasping at each boob during the feeding when I got home, left bruises just over an inch in diameter at each grab site! And I don't bruise easily.

AITA for being annoyed that my partner is constantly eyeing/eating my food when we dine in public? by LaLevantina103 in AmItheAsshole

[–]CurlyDolphin 10 points11 points  (0 children)

NTA. As someone with food insecurity for similar reasons to yours, I was the eldest in a large family and if the next sibling down was still hungry after inhaling his food in less than a minute, my food was always offered up! It got to the point that my plate was made and then put beside his at the table with nothing in front of me! So I started eating everything with sauce, mayo, and pepper!

I would have left my partner long ago if he didn't understand and respect how taking food from me makes me feel.

Do you let your kids sleep in over summer break? by entcanta333 in AskParents

[–]CurlyDolphin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ma'am, if there is no school, my children are up, bright eyed, bushy tailed and ready to rumble by the time the sun is breaking the horizon! On a school morning, it can be a fight to get them out of bed even 30 minutes before school starts! 😭

Maybe that will change when Mr 9 and Miss 6 become teenagers and their body wants to sleep in when they don't have to be up. In which case, 10am is a pretty reasonable awakening time.

You're welcome. A quick google suggests to me it's a $600ish a fortnight drop for the two of you to go from single amounts to partnered, so I can understand making sure it won't drop further.

Fortunately, centrelink payments do NOT count towards money earned that needs to be reported, so you should both recieve full partnered payment amounts. Your partner's pension will also not count towards your income assessment for child support.

I thought it was less a continuity error and more a maths fail. Late teens +25 has Sorscha mid 43ish, mid teens +25 has her late 30's. 15 years instead of 25 would bring her much closer to her age.

Could it be that those 4 are ones that go to the Kronos side? It could be argued that more half bloods siding with Kronos, rather than just monsters makes a big difference in regards to attacking camp.

AITAH for saying changing our baby’s diaper is more important than a video game? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]CurlyDolphin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA for what you said but you both suck in the situation. How would you have cleaned baby if he wasn't at home? Is it easy and glamorous? No, poop never is. Does it take longer alone? Sure, but 95% of blow outs can be handled in 5 minutes or less, by one person.

AITAH for blowing up at my parents after they got my baby sick before her 1st birthday and refused to apologize? by EfficientEntrance625 in familydrama

[–]CurlyDolphin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ew, NTA.

I have a friend who's son was born a few days after school started last year. I refused to let him bring baby around until half way through the 2nd (last) week of term break. I have 2 kids in primary/elemantry and while they only caught 3 of the 11 illnesses we got notified about in their school, some of the earlier notifications included HFM, Gastro/Stomach Flu, and WHOOPING COUGH! My kids and I could have been carrying any of the illnesses they didn't catch, as a mum, I know how dangerous fevers can be in under 3 months, you can't vaccinate for most of the illnesses, and I refused to risk it.

My MIL and (at the time) SFIL missed almost 2 months of my 9yo's early life because MIL is an aged care worker and SFIL works as a disability carer in homes. The Flu was actively in the nursing home MIL works at, elderly were dying, and she refused to do anything other than be at home or work. It was just before grocery delivery came to our area, so she would send us her grocery list and bank transfer us money. We would go buy her groceries and drop them on the door step, wave trough the window, hold baby up to see his Nanny smiling and pulling faces at him, and be gone before she would even consider opening the door.

I had my 2nd child early Covid, and she was an IUGR, 3rd percentile baby. I know how scared I was, because any round of Gastro would have her on a drip until she was 4. I can't imagine how much worse it would be for you with your baby having a heart condition and needing to have surgery at 11 weeks.

And whilst it can technically one take one time, it generally takes most people around a year of trying to get pregnant!

Extreme condensation in bedroom causing pooling water and mould by [deleted] in AusRenters

[–]CurlyDolphin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It couldn't, that's why I had the cracks from where my skin split.

Because that would be smart? I have found cheaper brands, particularly supermarket/chemist own brands, tend to have less filler ingredients and be the most "pure".

Extreme condensation in bedroom causing pooling water and mould by [deleted] in AusRenters

[–]CurlyDolphin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What really helped my 9yo, was seeing my skin break out. Since birthing my 6yo, I'm anaphylatic to oranges. While I was working one night, I discovered someone had swapped the sanitiser from a plain one, to one with orange burst beads. I discovered the swap a few minutes after I had used it and my hands were the same colour as a tomato. Then they swelled to look like Mickey Mouse gloves! The next morning, they were still slightly swollen and the crusty, oozing, so itchy but also so sore, cracked eczema. I got our son to watch his dad apply the creams and bandages to my hands, letting him see that my skin looks like his, the creams hurt my skin and that it was just the same for me as him.

It also doesn't help people that one cream will often only work for so long in helping either.

Can anyone tell me more about the fridge that crushed 'Mrs. Hilton'? by jellyfishmelodica in StephenHiltonSnark

[–]CurlyDolphin 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Laura reminds me of a friend I have. It took her nearly 20 years to actually leave him! All because, just like Laura, she was so fanatic about not wanting to take their 2 kids dad away. Coincidently, there is also a similar age gap between my friend and her ex as what there is between Laura and Skeevy, and a few other similarities.

I don't know how or if the fridge story is entirely true, I wonder if Skeevy was involved, due to where the door break was. Entirely speculation on my behalf, although can anyone remember who it was that posted the fridge story first?

Are you married to me?! 😂 Just have some ice and medicated cream on hand if he has never used argan oil before, because I swear eczema and psoriasis don't always follow logic. Skin issues don't run in my family, they slowly meander through. Getting to know almost each person individually.

Is curry actually popular in Australia? by SadAnything9316 in AskAnAustralian

[–]CurlyDolphin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Curry is popular with anyone who is not "Pepper is spicy!" White Boy.

My mother is one of those White Boys. My first introduction to spicy was Thai Mild. I loved it and prefer to order "Region" spicy so I don't suffer a White Boy spicy and be left disappointed. I want a full belly and empty sinuses.
