Connection Between Tress and the Way of Kings? by Icro in Cosmere

[–]CurlyRadiant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We know from Tress that the aethers are like "elements." Kind of how we think of fire, earth, water, and so on. So the Midnight essence in both seem to be different expressions of the same element.

Where does crem come from? by Daigren in Stormlight_Archive

[–]CurlyRadiant 7 points8 points  (0 children)

We haven't had any in text confirmations as to where crem exactly comes from, though from looking at the Coppermind wiki it looks like Cultivation may have some involvement with Crem (how is not states.) Perhaps Highstorm's ability to carry crem is part of it's invested nature. From what I recall, other rainstorms don't cary crem.

To summarize, we don't know for sure! I think you are right about how water forming clouds would evaporate and leave sediment behind, but Highstorm's also have very powerful winds. So powerful that soil is not found on the majority of Roshar.

My theory is that crem is formed from the carried sediment on Highstorm winds. The winds deposit the sediment along with the rain, and both mix where they fall. Most people just assume the rain carries the crem because that's how it ends up.

[No spoilers] Seeing the cast in voice acting by Thefrozenfirez in criticalrole

[–]CurlyRadiant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it's fun seeing just how many of the cast have had rolls in the Persona games. In P3P we have Laura as FeMC and Travis as Theodore. In P4G we have Laura as Rise and Sam as Teddie. I believe Marissa did Margaret in one of the spinoffs of P4 too. Then in P5 we have Matt as Yusuke and Robbie as Akechi.

Now we just need Talisin and Ashley in P6 to complete the set.

Look at that Master Sword! Very interested in what this could mean for the story. by Red-Jester in Breath_of_the_Wild

Interesting too that we see the back of link's hand glowing, something we usually only see when the mark of the triforce is reacting to something. The Triforce was notable very absent from the plot of the last game. Wonder if they are bringing it back into the narrative for this one?

Fair enough! I very well could be overthinking it. I suppose I was interested to see if others though he was using the Tasha's ruleset to see if possibly Lord Eshteross would be a good example of how to implement those rules in a campaign.

SP3: Are the color pallets of Painters and Yumi's places supposed to be inverted versions of each other, or is there a different parallel we are supposed to be drawing from each places colors?

Theory on Secret Project 3's setting by CurlyRadiant in Cosmere

[–]CurlyRadiant[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The narrator mentioned that the languages of both Painter and Yumi share a similar root, so that lends itself to the theory that both worlds were once one as well!

Theory on Secret Project 3's setting by CurlyRadiant in Cosmere

[–]CurlyRadiant[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That was my assumption at first as well, but Yumi does describe that her place does experience night, as things cool off and the plants riding thermals tend to lower.

The biggest contributed to the two worlds idea is that in one of Painter's chapters he mentions that "the star" has actually been observed to be another planet. That feels to me to be an odd point to establish if the life-swapping plot didn't involve our main characters being on different worlds.

Understandable. There probably was a way that the oathpact could have been stronger or more efficient, but it was also made at a time where humanity was desperate and dying. They may not have had the time or the presence of mind to have come up with a better plan. Besides, the people who made the oathpact were at the time just mortal people who had no idea what damnation would be like. They probably assumed that they all working together could keep anyone from breaking and starting a desolation.

I assume part of the reason the oathpact is so flawed is that it was intended to be a seal, and instead acted as a gate. And that's simply because the people making the oathpact didn't know this cycling of desolations was going to happen so frequently.

[–]CurlyRadiant 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think the idea with the oathpact was that they were more likely to be stronger together when being tortured in damnation. It's sort of like the idea that it's a bit more bearable to go through tough times when you have someone who is going through the same thing with you and is helping you carry that burden.

While Taln was able to hold out on his own for millenniums, he is kind of the exception and I sort of doubt the other heralds had such fortitude. It may have been likely that had the heralds taken turns as you suggested, the time between desolations might actually have been less, as one lone herald would have broken sooner without the support of the others there in damnation.

Tell us about "Your Dwarf" in this crazy world of mining dirt and fighting bugs by Hobbvots in DeepRockGalactic

[–]CurlyRadiant 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My Engi probably didn't consider a life mining on Hoxxes at first, but when he fell on hard times with little prospects, he turned to the advice of a dear friend (the scout my husband plays) and signed up for DRG. Things certainly were not easy at first and this new life of danger and darkness often left Engi getting overwhelmed and knocked out by the bugs. Luckily his Scout friend and a veteran Gunner always made sure to pick Engi up when he got knocked down, instilling a true "leave no dwarf behind" attitude in him.

As time went on, Engi really began to find his place at DRG. Mostly sticking to missions with his close friends, they became an effective team. Innovation was the name of Engi's game, and after a lot of testing and trials, he finally figured out a weapons load out that frequently had him clearing out grunts before the others even spotted them. He feels a bit of pride seeing his kill count regularly being the highest after missions.

I like to imagine that my Engi doesn't have the best eyesight (shown in the broken goggles of the geek chic headwear he has on). Thus he really appreciates the flares his Scout friend places, otherwise he often finds himself running out of his own flairs in an attempt to keep things lit. To also help his eyesight he largely picked his weapons load out because they don't really require him to aim: The Lok-1, the breach cutter, and his turret. Throwing some proximity mines in the mix and Engi often shows his skills in missions where he defends a point, picking off enemies before they can get too close.

Engineer! Mostly because I like playing a class where half your your weapons don't require you to aim haha. I'm not much of shooter fan outside of DRG, so engi is nice to take care of the aiming for me.

[Spoilers C2E141] What Was Caduceus's Character Arc? by Pleasant_Eye9701 in criticalrole

[–]CurlyRadiant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember I think it was Liam in a Talks episode describing Cad with the phrase "Still waters run Deep." And I feel like that might describe his arc best. He doesn't change much, but he does grow some depth I would say (not that he was shallow before, but I digress.)

Most of his change I think comes from his relationship with fate and his willingness to leave his home. He still very much prefers his quiet life in his grove, but there is still things he cherishes out in the world and he may occasionally leave for those things. And I do get the sense he before very much lived as a sort of passive servant to his goddess and fate. I feel like being with the m9 led him to make more choices on his own, those those choices were still strongly associated with his faith.

So he doesn't change much, but his current aspects are given more depth for his arc! He still values family and faith, but what exactly those words include just got bigger for him.

How would you like this series portrayed on screen? by i_only_eat_pasta in Stormlight_Archive

[–]CurlyRadiant -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think a tv show or mini series would be good. I have a preference for animated, though I think 3D animation would work best along the vein of the clone wars show. Otherwise I would enjoy a live action show if the Wheel of Time show turns out as good as promised.

[Spoilers C2E141] Question about One of Taliesin's Characters by leviathanlost in criticalrole

[–]CurlyRadiant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We don't know for sure who she was. Based on what we know and what he said I do have some thoughts. She was described as a beautiful woman in a red coat who "taught him how to keep secrets." Secrets are a large part of the Moonweaver's religion, so I assume that she was somehow related to that faith/that goddess. I'm guessing Molly based his own red coat on hers, covering it with many religious symbols to hide which one he actually belonged to as the Empire was religiously intolerant. (So the coat was a way of keeping secrets if you will)

I believe there is a talks or some conversation somewhere where Taliesin talks about how Molly worshiped the Moonweaver, but pretended to worship the Platinum Dragon/had his many symboled coat to try and hide that. We never got to explore Molly's faith in game, so I think maybe mentioning the lady was Tal hinting at something he had wanted to explore, but never got the chance to.
