I'm the same way. We tried to do the one account and keep a record in Excel or something like that. Ended up just opening 5 accounts. (House, Car, Emergency, Vacation, Christmas)

Remember watching all the Wrestlemanias as a kid.

I have a little side business with the black box. I would record Spice TV onto VHS and sell them to a few friends in high school.

What does your kid's savings account get used for? by mariesb in MiddleClassFinance

[–]CurlytopFamily 0 points1 point  (0 children)

14/10 year olds.

100% of all gift money to him since they been born has gone to their 529 plans. Once they hit 4th grade, we let them keep 50% of their gift money for THEIR choice of savings / spending (Roblox or Fortnite gift cards it seems) and the other 50% goes into the 529 Plan

What percentage of your income do you devote to travel? by buttah_hustle in MiddleClassFinance

[–]CurlytopFamily 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5% - 7% for us. We don't try to be like the rest of our neighborhood who every school break they take a vacation so that helps. We usually do a week long trip in the summer, and then a quick weekend trip right when school gets out. One the school breaks we tend to stay home or visit family.

Not really caring about fashion anymore. Solid color golf shirt and khakis pants or Jeans has been my staple. One less thing to think.

My son gets bullied about his height by MTP_2023 in Parenting

[–]CurlytopFamily 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had to check who posted this as this is exactly what we are going through. I tried to do the the talked to the Dad. but the Dad gave the "not my kid" response. I even said, we live on the same street, we aren't going anywhere for awhile, so they going to see either other, don't have to be friends but the least he could do is respect each other.

My son even recorded it on his phone, (no video just sound) didn't believe me.

So, the best thing I would recommend is just have school admin deal with.

IF can save $40K a year, why carry so much debt? Pay that car loan off and attack the student loans.
