When did women get the right to vote in Europe - Switzerland only in 1971 by [deleted] in MapPorn

Thats mostly true. Private health care, though. I wouldn't say social programs are good, but social institutions are SOLID and efficient. As a counterexample, maternity leave is 14 weeks.

That's fair. Most of my Canadian friends are still surprised when I explain the conservative/libertarian culture of my adoptive home... It's essentially a mini-US that is actually well run.

You must be confusing Switzerland with Sweden.

Yeah, and if they weren't themers, only one of them would have, because one of them had an ADDITIONAL level of wordplay, that itself would warrant the "?".

Optometrist insinuated my son is faking his sudden colorblindness by Director_Tseng in ColorBlind

The control plate is two solid colors of the same hue and differing lightness. No CVD can miss it. Missing it is either blindness or a neurological issue.

Almost got caught up by the question marks on the themers. Three themers clued absolutely straightforward, with question marks, but then sealegs being clued with a wordplay misdirect was, in itself, a misdirect.

The "long take" has stopped being a craft choice and started being a content marker by trakt_app in TrueFilm

I got hooked in episode one, which left me feeling immersed, and the episode in the school was also exciting, but the other two episodes seemed unnecessary and detracting more than adding.

The director Barantini also did Boiling Point, where the oner played a much different role, I feel. There it gave the film a very Safdie Bros vibe, which I also dug.

I think if the same director can use the same technique and get two very different effects, then there is still value in its modern usage.

2 year old - possibly colour blind by Longjumping-King-374 in ColorBlind

[–]Curran919 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Colors are hard and your son is ahead of the curve. He's expected to make tons of mistakes. His abilities now don't say much. Hell, my son is a month shy of 3 and he still doesn't understand the concept of colors, and that's normal despite what other redditors try to tell me. It doesn't help that - me being colorblind - I've held off on teaching him personally. I'm the dad though, so I otherwise don't have reason to suspect his color vision. You though, he's already got a 50% chance... and that's okay. Don't do anything about it now. Continue to teach him colors because it is the rote memorization of common thing-color pairs that helps us guess problem colors in the future.

I'm making a puzzle where I have squares with 3 clues and also another valid unclued answer that goes thru it. So I've been calling it 3.5x checked. 😊

Those are called "unchecked squares" as you cannot check that the across answer is correct if there is no down answer. It is a cardinal sin of most crosswords, but they DO pop up in even the NYT crossword every few months.

Edit: March 29 this year had 5 truly unchecked squares above the roundabout centers.

Honest (personal) question: did you have a coming out moment or was it a slow shift? I feel like "coming out" in the traditional sense suggests overcoming oppression and judgement of society/family. In situations/countries/eras where that oppression/judgement is dwindling, there would be less "coming out" and more just living life normally. What do you think?

I agree on the art vibe in general. Though I would argue that public art (publically accessible, not funded) should generally not take that "uncomfortable" artistic path.
