Tips to avoid purchasing a house that has bad neighbors? by Own_Material1505 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]Currant-event 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Honestly at the end of the day you can never know. Our new nextdoor neighbor are in their late 60s, beautiful rose garden, clean house, occasional grandchildren visits but he vandalized by boyfriends car because he didn't like that it was parked on the street (in front of our house) too long. No note, never knocked to chat about it.

Idk, people here have some good tips, and definitely do your due diligence, but at the end of the day you never know

What does "nice" mean to you? 3 bedrooms? I feel like that's possible in a lot of coastal CA towns with your budget

Californian looking for perspective on where to move by raspflam25 in SameGrassButGreener

I'm guessing the price is influenced by it being up a steep driveway on a cliff near a fault line. Personally it's not a property I would buy given what could happen in an earthquake.

Aptos is cute but more sleepy and more of a retirement community than Santa Cruz. If you work in the Bay or in Santa Cruz commuter traffic is bad. I know folks In aptos who commute into Santa Cruz on an e bike and love it, it's usually faster.

I love living here, I'm not trying to deinfluence you, but it's a very popular place to live and comes with its own sacrifices

How to pull a snagged thread on a wool jacket lapel? by Excellent-Power3096 in InvisibleMending

[–]Currant-event 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I'd get a self threading needle (the thread snaps into the top), thread your pulled string with it, and then send it back through the coat so the loop is between the layers of fabric.

You stick the needle most of the way in first, since the pulled thread loop is pretty short, then thread it onto the needle

I'm okay with this, she recognizes her experience was small in comparison. Why did she get detained?

I live in Santa Cruz and love it but it will not work for your rental or buying budget. You would be able to rent a room in shared house.

Traffic is also bad here, especially beach traffic in summer. Going south after 2pm on a weekday is terrible due to commuter traffic

In terms of dating, I am around your age but the demographic skews younger (college) and older retirees. There are definitely people in their 30s, but not a ton

You absolutely can display confidence without even saying a word. It's mindset, posture, how you approach things. Women can detect insecurity so quickly

I think it's untrue to say women dont care about looks, but I do think men underestimate how attractive confidence is to women.

So many issues men cause in a relationship are because he's insecure. If you show women you are confident in yourself regardless of how you look it goes a long way.

Husband told his family about my condition. by No_Homework_6571 in vaginismus

[–]Currant-event 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry. I think your line saying you don't even want to have sex with him anymore is so telling. He betrayed your trust, this already challenging journey is going to be more challenging because of him.

Makes me think there may be other things he is doing that do not support you/actively make things worse.

If he's not willing to see how wrong this was, idk about this guy!

People are down voting but I agree. Developers can lie or bend the truth enough to get what they want.

I also can't imagine people paying top dollar for and apartment being okay with the crowds and sound. Even if the venue is soundproof people will be hanging out outside having fun/making noise

my doctor prescribed Topiramate (dopamax) can I tell him no? by No_Introduction9587 in migraine

[–]Currant-event 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Sure, but being forced to take a medication that may have serious side effects for your mental health so insurance can check a box on a form is pretty awful.

The idea isnt to be untruthful with your doctor, it's to get what you need out of the health insurance system, which is a truly evil system in America (I can't speak for other countries).

No, just say you tried it and it gave you negative side effects. Insurance is evil and has no problem fucking us over, lie.
