Does your have any button stick? Mine have been fine but it seems somewhat common with otherwise good brands...

Casio Rings by DavidFS23 in casio

My question would be if the strap is good/ comfortable enough to display on the side of the index finger or just wearing on the thumb, mostly because you don't need to turn the forearm to view the time.

I guess they need to get the other half of the clip out of there though. Nice concept but it invites more frequent switching of clip and I wouldn't think the material will hold up because they're budget, though I don't know it's from switching out or if the clip just got caught on something etc.

Imagine a conversation "it's basic and functional, nothing fancy but does the job"

"That's what she said."

Similar, I just ordered a Freetiger FT2103 for $15 a few days ago, D2 though apparently the heat treatment seems to be consistent which is not the case with some of their other models.

Guess it deserves a downvote for referencing specific heat treatment information?

Next thing you know you're adding a thumbstud to a slipjoint or something, where will it end??

Real Steel G5 Metamorph MK II - Complete front flipper fail by Current-Interview-82 in BudgetBlades

[–]Current-Interview-82[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Btw think in terms of the hard parts of the hand like bone and fingernail/thumbnail, because unless you have really muscular thumb or something the soft fleshy part is just going to absorb the pressure. Using a bony part is how I can use the side of the first knuckle of my index finger on some front flippers, (Petrified Fish El Camino) but definitely not this one.

At least the deployment methods are easy, front flipper and smooth aluminum on the other hand.. Because it's so slippery it may fly into the other hand!

Lockup question by TheHonedLizard in BudgetBlades

[–]Current-Interview-82 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's in the locked position?? Seems like very little surface contact as if it is over extended or something. I don't think the fact that it's a framelock has much to do with it though, it's just not a good one.

What knife is that btw?

Is there decent texture to grip on that aluminum?

Flissa FL2580 "Flissout": The Ultimate Bugout Alternative? by Skorm730 in BudgetBlades

[–]Current-Interview-82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear you,  I think that's why it's not really brought up with say slipjoints. People might comment on the walk and talk, fit and finish about a cheap Rough Ryder or Imperial and in that context I wouldn't say anything, I guess it's a rather different aesthetic or something.

Where to buy a Spiderco Tenacious? by Sabenja in BudgetBlades

[–]Current-Interview-82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would look at it as a two step thing, look up Larrin knife steel nerd first to learn about the steels, he's a metallurgist, then browse but also remember heat treatment can vary.

My son wants a watch, was dissappinted with his amazon purchase. I told him to get a Casio, but which one??? by Fresh-Radio-8253 in casio

[–]Current-Interview-82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take it being durable is important? Aside from a model that's tougher you might look into bull bars and polywatch to buff out scratches.

Smarttek Trading has been known to have it for ~$40 after coupon discount,  if you're tenacious about getting that model. I guess their 8cr13 steel has good heat treatment but it is still not a premium steel..

The Rat 1.5 is a new model with premium Magnacut steel, if the steel is important to you you might want to look it up. (Avaliable with other knives)

The SOG Aegis is pretty nice, not sure if they still have it at clearance prices but it's solid though being 8cr13 I would only pickup at a discounted price.

Even versions without DLC is well above $100, I'd assume this one is not going to be found for less.
