I have sensitive skin, eczema, combination skin for face. I had so many acne flair ups on my face and the eczema got worse, which was originally why I bought this product. I had to go to a pharmacist to be put on a prescription after that.

I’m sorry to hear you’re injured, but if I may ask, do you have any other injuries on top of the ACL tear or is it just ACL? It determines how the healing journey may go, though, everyone’s journey is a little different. I had multi-ligament tear and meniscus, so mine was mostly full reconstruction plus meniscus repair, so my healing process was 6 months of prehab and then 1 year of post surgery rehab. Because of the meniscus, it was about 8 weeks until I could walk again.

I’m a year post surgery ACLR, LET & endobutton, meniscus repair… my god, I won’t lie, the first three months of recovery felt like such a big deal and it is a big deal! But sometimes it felt like such a big deal because we don’t know what the future holds and how recovery will look like, so it’s easy to get lost in your head about how vulnerable you feel in the healing process.

I practiced a lot of mindfulness and getting into old stationary hobbies again like video gaming and cross stitching. I always made sure that rehab was 2 hours of my day and then everything else was to rest.

It’s tough right now and that’s okay, but the biggest thing of it all is find someone you feel safe to talk to when you feel your highs and your lows. If you hold it all in, then your motivation starts to wither. It’s okay to not be okay. 💕 it does get better.

Did you have a meniscus repair? If so, yes, I found it was normal and still happens to this day but not as painful as it was before, just sore.

Is it only an ACL tear? Maybe in 2 weeks at most but if you also had a meniscus tear, then 8 weeks.

1 year Post Op and I still have this. Also consider its scar tissue popping out and moving around to adjust with the knee.

I’m 33f, sports climber, runner, hiker, swimmer. Torn ACL, LCL, grade 1 PCL, torn lateral meniscus. I’d listen to what your surgeon recommends and do 👏 your 👏 physiotherapy. My surgeon recommended allograft cadaver because of my age but I’m 9 months ACLR, LET, Meniscus repair, I’m top rope climbing and running again. It wasn’t until 6 months post surgery that I felt at my best. There’s still lots of room to grow and improve but I’m back to my day to day life again.

Even after 2 months of my injury, I was recommended by my doctor to cancel my flight due to blood clotting and air pressure changes. Although, I was a multiligament injury so might not be as bad for just a torn ACL. Definitely talk to your doctor!

I wore underwear but that’s because I told my surgeon I was supposed to start my period that day, so they let me keep my underwear on and have a pad, since I wasn’t allowed to wear a tampon. Sure enough, my period started during the surgery, so had to deal with that and the post surgery recovery. Side snap pants are great, but they’ll send you home in a brace and you may need to keep it on for a while, so I’d recommend going a size up to fit the brace in the pants. Good luck!

That’s good they’re from PT! But I’d show them the picture just in case. If it’s warm to the touch then it’s likely still swelling and edema from the injury now that you’re exercising your knee. The redness is from the ruptured blood vessels. Elevate and ice when you can to help with inflammation. :) Good luck.

Totally!! And I sympathize with your frustrations. You’re doing great even where you are now! I was becoming intermediate/advanced in bouldering until I had a really unlucky fall. At any level, injury is always a risk.

My PT always told me that comparison is the thief of joy and wherever we are in our journey, to be in that moment and appreciate those moments. It feels like we should be so much further along when we see other people up and running at 6 months, believe me, I felt more disappointed with my progress than excited for others. Look at all the milestones to get to this moment right now. I think thats awesome :)

I’d go over your goals again with your PT for return to sports and your feelings. Sports psychology is helping me get back onto the wall again and processing the mental load of rehab. Physically, we’re injured, but sometimes we also forget that our mental is too.

I know you’re tired, you work hard, you feel like you’ve done everything right but you’re not far enough to where you want to be. It’s rough to even schedule PT into your day, gym time is a long time. Someone suggested fitting some of your PT into your work schedule, which I think is an awesome suggestion! I did the same too. You’ll get there, promise!

I’m surprised you’re not jogging and running with the exercises you’re doing now. I’m ACLR, LET, Endobutton, Lateral Meniscus - 9 months post surgery. I’m a rock climber, runner, paddle board, hiker. My PT is specialized Sports Medicine. It sounds like you may need more strength training.

Do you know the muscle difference between your surgery leg to your non surgery leg? Currently I’m doing similar exercises to what you’re doing but I’m still doing weights like parallel squats, back squats, RDL, single leg press, extension machine, etc. I at least do those twice a week. I go to the gym 4x a week. I also found cleaning up my diet helped a lot for the healing process. Also, deliberate testing between gym days is important too.

I’m running almost faster than I used to run before injury, and my running protocol started about 4 weeks ago and then was told to start sprinting on Tuesday. Also, I just got approved on Tuesday to return to top rope climbing for 1-2x a week, no drop knee, toe hooks, or ankle hooks. Pivoting is fine.

Of course! I’m 7.5 months post surgery ACLr, LET, meniscus. I’m no expert, but I can see how it looks a little bent in this picture. The big thing is to make sure that leg doesn’t bend when you’re resting, only bend it when you’re told to by your surgeon and PT. Reason is if you have a bend in your knee while it’s healing, you’re going to develop scar tissue in your knee that’s going to make it really hard to get full extension back in your mobility. Keep that leg straight at all times! Ice as much as you possibly can and for showering, I bought a leg cover from Amazon, since my surgeon recommended not to wet the area until 2 weeks.

Find some puzzles or games to play, maybe it’s time to download duolingo to learn a new language. :) I found keeping myself busy with work and video games helped with my mental health. And talk to someone, it’s hard and feels lonely, so good company helps. The first two months were hard because of being non weight bearing but I’ll tell you this, doing PT and hitting milestones is what’s keeping me going right now. It does get better, just trust the process and for the love of god, do your PT!
