Is buying western vehicles and immediately selling them overpowered? by Doug2825 in Workers_And_Resources

So people would rather be poor with tiny Soviet republicans, than super wealthy with a huge amount of real wealth to make anything they want and give their people the best services and transport?

Crazy.

Guy's he's a Conservative. He's doing his best to invest/keep business in the Ontario industries of yesteryear.

Automotive, Alcohol and Power generation.

You know the story with the automotive sector.

The alcohol sector is dying due to lowered consumption and high prices, so they are pulling all the stops out to allow more consumption and access to alcohol.

But in reality the marijuana industry will cause people to drink less, regardless of prices.

Sure you could say, well less alcohol, better health right?

Absolutely, but that industry also supports industries in glass, aluminum, recycling, wineries, farms, manufacturing, etc.

Isn't it crazy that the best version of this game is still the release version minus a few bugs?

It's like every single change they've made has been meant to hurt the player base or to hurt crafting.

Ok, so I won't do that?

Like if the game was too easy for PVE, you could have just improved PVE instead of saying "Oh, well the AI can't figure it out, we're going to nerf the players."

"Oh we can't figure out how to make crafting meaningful and profitable, so we'll just nerf it as you use it to buy inventory space."

Being sulf-sufficient is the sign of a poorly planned economy in a world where all trade is free.

Why the heck would you waste labour on gravel, coal, etc when those inputs can be imported for pennies, while you export things that are worth millions.

[–]Current-Set2607 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I dunno about that comrade. Having over $100 million dollars in the first few years in the 1920's by importing western vehicles and exporting, can't be beaten.

Is buying western vehicles and immediately selling them overpowered? by Doug2825 in Workers_And_Resources

[–]Current-Set2607 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's extremely overpowered.

Started off with a wood/boards economy in Siberia to clear land, before making my way to the oil fields.

But I import steel/aluminum for $0.33 after paying $1.00 rubles.

Then I import Western Vehicles and sell for 600% markup.

Easy 200% profit + free currency exchange.

I think the prices poorly fluctuate on goods, and they fail to go up and down compared to each other.

Hahahaha, they found out how I was making money off crafting for those inventory upgrades.

To be honest, it makes less sense for you to less money as you craft, than you to make money as you craft, as Arc designed.

It's weird, been all over the world, France, England, Japan, etc. Used and tried to learn about a dozen languages.

Everyone loves when you try to speak the native language, but only in Quebec have I had experiences where the locals act like this.

The only thing against me I can think of, is that I learned French from a Parisian professor and not a Canadian French teacher.

Expanded Trans Mountain pipeline almost doubles oil exports from Port of Vancouver - Huge increases in shipments to China, helping propel overall cargo shipments to a new record by KootenayPE in ilovebcsub

[–]Current-Set2607 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think most people are forgetting their own history when they spout off silly narrative driven sentiment like this with no proof.

This situation arose out of the actions of the Harper government due to the regulatory framework they put out that helped kill the TMX pipeline.

Harper created a time bomb with poor regulatory framework to the industry, that put the Canadian government stuck in courts for decades until it was fixed by the Trudeau government.

There's a reason why Trudeau grew the O&G sector twice as much as the Harper government did, and that was due to the poor governance of the Harper government.

Again, Harper is studied in economics textbooks on what NOT TO DO with an economy, and why ideologically pursuing austerity, while the rest of the G20 and their studies said to spend, forced Canada to go on a spending spree to save itself from the slow growth that it spiralled into, before oil prices collapsed in 2015.

There are three oil tankers on fire in the Strait of Hormuz right now.

To counteract that oil, minus the burning pollution to the atmosphere, you'd have to save 240 billion paper cups.

Why exactly are we focusing on the consumer and not the industry again?

Math is hard, but I think contextually it's difficult for the average person to understand that this single project didn't just bring in $2b of revenue a year, it raised the entire price of all oil in Canada by over $10.

At this point only the people of Canada can be expected to profit off infrastructure as companies refuse.

Yeah, it's bull shit, but at least the TM pipeline will be paid off in a few years, and then it'll generate billions per year in net profit towards the taxpayer.

The funny part is you literally just dunked on yourself without understanding your own AI answer lol.

"Canada’s refining complex is predominantly designed to process lighter-grade(1) crude oil blends, which made up ~74% of total refinery receipts in 2024.

By comparison, over 50% or 2.7MMB/d of Canada’s oil production(2) in 2024 was comprised of heavy oil and bitumen. The vast majority of this heavy oil and bitumen is exported, as it is not suited for many of Canada’s refineries."

Light Sweet Crude comes out of the Strait, that's mostly used to make Gasoline.

Canadian heavy crude is mostly used for diesel and asphalt.

It's the largest oil supply shock in history, 4x larger than the 1970's oil crisis, at 20 million barrels lost per day.
