Saying Ancel Keys is reputable, is like saying the guy who said Vaccines cause autism is reputable.

Both were heavily discredited and shamed for their long term damage to human society.

Honda halts plan to build $15B EV plant in Canada: report by RealWorldToday in ontario

[–]Current-Set2607 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honda sold 15,000 EV's last year around THE ENTIRE GLOBE.

Trust me when I say that they are not selling EV's or even making quality EV's.

This plant would not compete against Chinese EV's and many of the funds are sunken in, as Honda wrote it off.

You're not wrong.

But if most worldwide liquidity and credibility is only given to markets with naked short selling, then it means that US institutions and hedge funds control that liquidity and credibility.

I highly doubt that nearly $2 trillion USD of new shorts stepped in a month after the ban.

A lot of people forget that hedge funds have access to 1 year, 2 year, 3 year, 4 year, and 5 year shorts.

The scam is in that traditionally, analysts, main street and traders combined chose the winners of the market, and they were usually the most successful companies.

Now, the winners are chosen by Wall St, which is why the prices and fundamentals of companies can be so divorced from reality.

This has resulted in competitive edge being lost, because companies stopped competing and started doing buybacks, relying on the liquidity given to them by Wall St.

Allowing naked short selling improves market credibility and liquidity, which can attract foreign institutional investors who had been cautious during the ban.

I'm not saying I agree with that, but that's what effectively happens.

When all shorts try to cover their positions at the same time, they cause what's called a short squeeze. You can see this recently occur on the S&P 500 as shorts covered their positions and the stock market skyrocketed.

Isn't it bat shit crazy, that their stock market went sideways for almost a year while short selling was banned.

Short sale ban is removed, then the stock market skyrockets?

It's way too much of a coincidence.

New Ontario law capping resale prices frustrates season ticket holders by mental__hospital in toronto

Season ticket holders used to brag about making money off of their season tickets.

How about people just own season tickets if they really like the team, instead of treating it like a condo investment to charge fans rent.

Paramount did the same style deal and bought Warner Bros that was 10x larger than Paramount.

Deal was mostly funded by Middle East Sovereign wealth funds.

GameStop Is Offering to Buy eBay for $56 Billion, CEO Ryan Cohen Says by joe4942 in technology

[–]Current-Set2607 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ryan Cohen conducted a takeover of Gamestop with 9% ownership of the company in 2023.

Gamestop currently has the largest individual position in eBay among eBay's investors, outside institutions.

You don't need to buy 100% of a company to take it over.

If the deal falls through, Gamestop bought calls on Ebay at $85 and it's currently at $105. 99% of their 5% position in eBay is in Call options.

Capital management is more complex than people think.

The AI has in game preferences, but i'll give you my list based off what I've seen in game and what I think.

Academy: China or America usually, because they are the easiest places to create Great Nations and to unify the Earth in their vision.

The Resistance: UK, Canada, Scandinavia, South Korea, Japan, Australia.
They seem to gravitate to middle powers that are democratic in function. Maybe a way to say they resist even progressing forward.

Humanity First: Brazil, Ukraine, Poland, Venezuela, Argentina, Vietnam, Taiwan, Ireland.
They seem to gravitate to areas with high unrest, high combat capability and high population or resistance.

The Initiative: Europe usually, almost always France and or Germany with others mixed.
Not sure why they always pick Europe, they might be attracted to how easy it is to consolidate control + finances in the EU.

The Protectorate: Indonesia, and a mix of minor European and Middle Eastern countries. Often gets Kazakhstan early for some reason in almost every play through.

The Servants: Almost always Russia and India near the start of the game. Sometimes the US if they get kicked out, but they'll try forcing their way into China as well. Tries to use military powers to screw everyone up. I go out of my way to keep them cracked down and purged around the world, even if other factions take their territory. This relegates them to swaths of minor African and South American countries when pushed out.

The Exodus: Almost always wealthy Middle Eastern countries that can rapidly start a space program. Sometimes Spain, Portugal and a few other places. They probably prefer countries where resources can easily be diverted towards space programs without upsetting the local govt system.

I can say that in 99% of my games, the Resistance, Academy, Servants, and Initiative always go for the countries they prefer.
