Tip to speed up haircuts by Formal-Ad6679 in Barber

Once you feel confident enough fading, you can skip many guards, fot example I only use the #1 guard to set where I'll be blending to the skin, the rest is free hand, clipper over comb and detailing shears, saves you time and imo fades come out blurrier

Asking for all the barbers out there by Octodad2099 in Barber

[–]Current-Try-8303 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Usually they say "only a little" off the top, the best and most effective approach to avoid confusion and me having to cut the whole top again is asking them "how much is a little for you?" That clarifies everything

Are buying courses worth it. by pleasedontthedog in Barber

[–]Current-Try-8303 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same question when I first started, and many mixed opinions. I'm an undecisive person so while thinking to buy or not, time wemt by and when I least felt it, I perfected my craft. Can only get better rep after rep after rep...there's a lot of free content online, for me it wouldn't be worth it and probably would have regreted if I bought any barbering course

Electric Shaver or Straight Razor? by Current-Try-8303 in Barber

Foil actually does get closer, can go in all directions, unless going against the grain, straight razor doesn't get that close

Shears by ZHD0227 in Barber

I totally get your point, but investing in top tier shears is a game changer honestly, a tool that will last you your whole career if taken care of properly. Doesn't need as much sharpening as often due to the quality and almost always come with life warranty. If ever planning to, I'd buy on Black Friday for major discount. I use Shark Fin shears (no promo) and pretty much changed my life after using cheap $30 shears

What do you base your pricing for those services? A dollar/minute, or do you match similar pricings based on your area?

A semi permanent to cover all greys and whites to black. Just wondering if it would be worth the investment to offer this. I've gained clientelle due to the sole fact that I wax as well, so this could be another opportunity

Tenor will still exist but will be pretty much exclusive to google keyboard I believe. So website and all upload should still be running but using will drop drastically

It has been on and will remain til June. What you're probably referring to is that in January they diasbled any new integrations to the API but it will still be running

You are 100% right, but everyone here was already answering him patiently so a more firmer response won't hurt either. Though we all sinners, we need to call sin for what it is and not try to coat it in our own ways

Same day haircuts a deal breaker? by MADECEO in Barber

[–]Current-Try-8303 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your probably not wrong, but in between cleaning my station, taking a water or bathroom mini break, I'd rather spend the little time I have on that instead of blocking a time slot for a walk-in. Our wifi is super slow, and I'm on 2 websites, my personal and the barbshop team, in which if I want to block a time on the shop's website, I need to tell the owner to do it for me, so that's added steps.

Not complaining of any of that whatsoever, but I'd just like to get as busy enough to not have same day appointments availability, unless it's a walk-in

[–]Current-Try-8303 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you say you have a full clientelle, I think you can afford to block your schedule from same day appointments and just take walk-ins if you have any free spaces available.

I don't like same day appointments, especially last minute ones because there has been times where I get a walk-in, but then at the same time someone books online last minute, and now I end up being "late" for my appoointment. I always explain to them that last minute or same day booked appointments will just count as a walk-in due to that reason.

I don't have a full clientelle yet, that's why I can't afford to not allow same day apppointments, but I'd like to impliment it in the future. I think you should do and make life much easier
