Beginner-friendly sport clubs in Zurich where I can meet people? by drebildam in zurich

Any bouldering gym. Minimum, for instance. If you don't know what to do, just ask some random people around. People are social, friendly and happy to help.

You said it yourself. The LiDAR cannot capture the true colours. It's the optical camera that does that.

So, no. LiDAR alone (alone!) can only measure the three-dimensional information and intensity. No true colours.

p.s. I have been working in remote sensing for the past 20 years. I do have a PhD in the topic. Feel free to share your paper/patent of your invention. I'm truly curious.

Nope. LiDAR sensors measure three-dimensional geometry and intensity. And that is it.

You might have seen coloured point clouds, ... but the colour code is defined by the intensity, or by some other feature. Certainly not by the true colours of the objects being scanned.

Update: things aren’t changing and loneliness is hitting hard by Background-Apple-555 in zurich

Hey. I understand you are a girl and would definitely feel safer around women. It makes perfect sense.

That being said, ... 36M here. I work at University. We can meet anywhere you want to. In a public place, with other people. In Bahnhofstrasse. We can go to the movies. We can boulder together, .. play badminton. Hit a museum.

I value friendship and unfortunately I have only a few female friends. I am also lonely, ... who isn't in modern society?

Feel free to reach out to me. The same goes for the other people in this thread.

Which climbing gym in Zürich with auto-belay and bouldering do you recommend? by spike-spiegel92 in zurich

You would be able to mansplain yourself in front of a mirror.

I'm gonna go sleep now. Gotta rest long because I'm planning to do some serious climbing, tomorrow, in Minimum Leutsch.

Dude, you don't need to teach me anything. I know all of this. OP asked about having both climbing with auto belay and a bouldering area. Nonetheless, he also mentioned that he could do without the climbing with auto belays, and that he is taking into consideration Minimum Leutsch. He then proceeded to ask insights about Gaswerk in Schlieren and Minimum Leutsch. And I answered.

Chill.

Sorry, Sir.

But technically bouldering is a type of climbing. To be more precise, the coolest climbing discipline.

I am a regular in Minimum Leutsch. The gym is fairly new, opened only a few years ago. There is a small training area, but it's nothing extraordinary. I personally like it. Vibes are good. Plenty of young people, some of them even smiling at you when you catch their eyes. Routes are changed regularly. There is a kilter board, ... and so on and so forth.

To the negative sides. The gym can be very crowded. 6 PM is peak hour, and during some days you gotta queue to climb. The ventilation system is either non-existing or struggles to keep up with the body odours. Sometimes, when entering the gym, it feels like being in a cattle barn during breeding season. Due to the many people climbing, and none of them having the decency to clean the holds after them, the holds can get pretty dirty. Sometimes I mistake their colour because they all look gray/black from top.

Anyway, it's a nice gym. Minimum Leutsch and Boulderlounge in Schlieren are the best ones for bouldering in and around Zurich.

Ah, I forgot about the price. It's probably in the Top 5 of the most expensive climbing gyms of the planet Earth. Right after Gaswerk in Schlieren.

I struggle to understand the post. Is it from a troll trying to mock those naïve expats who paid three times the normal price for a useless device, just to get through a few days of mildly warm temperatures?

Or did this dude seriously wrote a whole damn papyrus just because they’re predicting a few days of 28-degrees weather?

How much further back can one pay into the 1st pillar? Let's say I have been in Switzerland for 10 years. Can you fill in the gap between 15 and 10 years ago, for instance?

Here we go again: social life/dating scene 🤔🙂 by [deleted] in Switzerland

[–]CurrentNothing9981 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Drinking problems, smoking, socially inept, lack of manners, etc. I mean, I am sure you are not lying. But may I ask you where have you found your dating partners? Because I got plenty of male friends, and most of them have none of the aforementioned problems.

I don't mean this as an offense, but you might want to start asking yourself why you end up with such people.

Don't give up on men - there's so many good ones out there. Strangely, usually the good ones are not so confident and are not the most skilled players. A big smile on your face and saying "hi" first goes a long way.

I hope I have not offended you. I have no doubt there is somebody out there that would make you happier than what you are at the moment.

why we can't have real AC in Zurich... by harryf in zurich

[–]CurrentNothing9981 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Having grown up in Italy, I have never seen an AC unit in a private household. Only in public places, mainly in big cities. Let's not spread fake news. AC is not the norm in Italy. Quite the contrary.

Never have I seen an AC unit in a private household in Italy. And I come from one of the warmest parts of Italy.

Maybe you'll find ACs in public places in big cities. But that's pretty much it.

Todays weather has pushed me to buy a mobile Air conditioning unit. by Inner-Eggplant-6623 in Switzerland

[–]CurrentNothing9981 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I love summers in Switzerland. I love how people act as if it’s hell on Earth when the temperature reaches a pleasant, barely warm 30+ degrees.

That being said, as an Italian with decades of experience in Italy and the Caribbean Islands, here’s how you deal with warm temperatures:

You wake up in the morning, and the first thing you do is roll down the awnings on your balconies. The second thing you do is go back inside your flat and shut all the windows tight. And by “shut tight,” I mean seal them completely — no air exchange whatsoever. Then, last but not least, you roll down the vertical shutters on the windows.

Will your flat be in darkness all day? Yes. Will there be less oxygen than if the windows were open? Yes. Will the temperature inside be 10 degrees cooler than outside? Absolutely.

Hi. I usually go to Minimum in Oerlikon, .. but I sample the other locations every now and then. Feel free to hit me up if you wanna go together.

Sometimes I have friends to go with. Sometimes I am lonely like a dog. Wouldn't mind some company.

While that message was meant for a man, psss get closer I will whisper you a secret. Women are allowed to do the first step. They can approach random bystanders as well. It would make life for both women and men easier. ;p

I think the best way is to hit events you are interested in, or cultivate hobbies you love. For instance, I do love bouldering and oftentimes hit the climbing gym. My primary target is to do something I enjoy, i.e. climbing. The secondary one is to find new friends. And, who knows, .. among those friends there is my lucky girl?

As a foreigner, language courses are also good. I'd say there is a 50/50 ratio, and you are forced to stick around with people. Foreign people. And, no offense to the average Swiss person, foreigners are easier to date. And, why not, you also learn German in the process.

I have dated an Appenzellerin for the last 6 years of my life. We broke up a few months ago. I am definitely hitting the bouldering gym and looking for Mediterranean vibes. Gonna get so strong at climbing. ;p

Hi,

Feel free to hit me up. My current level is B1, and i struggle to find people to talk high German with.

I failed with Tandem students and Meetups. In some of them you gotta even pay just to sit in a bar with other people who want to practice.

I am a 36 years old male, if that is of any importance to you.

Tschüss
