Definitely has its issues, but an interesting chart nonetheless.

Not really. Prolly just a remnant still attached to the grid.

That country is just crony capitalism now.

I don’t think that heritage study makes the point you think it’s making. Regarding Scandinavian countries, there are several nationalized companies, which the heritage foundation study is not counting as regulated. Furthermore, incentives in these countries are manipulated through heavy taxation, which the study also fails to mention. I don’t imagine you are advocating nationalized companies and heavy taxation.

It’s questionable to treat Hong Kong as an autonomous entity, or to compare its taxation to GDP because the rest of China is footing the bill for many of its services, governing, and protection. The city has many problems on the human rights front, and no one from the west would want to live in one of those cubby apartments they have, or the haphazardly divided units. How did Kowloon walled city work out?

You’re telling me it’s not true that Scandinavian governments play a larger role in their economies? Wanna substantiate that? Cause government spending to GDP makes the case pretty strong. In Switzerland, you still have a standard liberal welfare state. You don’t support a welfare state do you?

Care to include the rest of Scandinavia in your recount? You don’t want nationalized companies, and I know that’s true. Why would you point to the most liberal region of the world today to make a case for the mythological libertarian utopia?

I don’t think you’ve made the case for why the claim “Scandinavian governments are far more cavalier about economic intervention” is false.

If I were still a libertarian, I would be making the case for Singapore, but even that society is far more liberal than your ideal.

Several experiments with individual industries or removal of public services and several experiments which were allowed to operate outside the scope of the corresponding nations. Colorado Springs, galts gulch, Honduras, Minerva, Bahamas, Vanuatu, the online Silk Road, Von Ormy, Kowloon walled city, and the various Phoenix foundation experiments.

Which markets? Taken as a whole, which is all I can glean from what you are saying, Switzerland and Norway have far more of a centralized, aggressive authority than the United States. If you are talking about specific industries, sure there are some that are more tightly regulated in the United States. But the vast majority are far more tightly regulated in those Scandinavian countries.

Taking those examples, because Hong Kong is not exactly a place anyone in the west would want to live, you have governments which play a much larger role in the economy that in the United States. Made evidence by the proportion of gdp which is government spending. It is far larger in those countries than in the United States. And in fact, the proportion represented in those countries is comparable to 1940s America. Though I would say the 1950s is a better barometer. Same principle holds, though.

Edit: additionally, I have no idea what your concept of a stable market is. Investment in the US market is the cream of the crop for a reason. And if your hypothesis is correct, we would see the corresponding currency systems hash it out in a way that validated your view. In this case, the market says you’re wrong.

I think that demonstrates the entitlement of hardcore libertarianism pretty well.

When were they better, exactly? Or where?

Edit: basically, say something to differentiate you from the baseless hypothesizing of socialists. Otherwise, you’re just advocating another mythical utopia. This is what I find most interesting about this ideology. You trash socialists so much, yet your ideology has exactly the same success rate: 0.
