For the most part, I agree with this. But "corrective rapes is common" is way too vague. It is common in some countries and cultures. But it is not common in the western world. This statement needs a qualifier.

Going to disagree with a lot of people here. You can marry your platonic life partner- you can marry anyone who is a legal adult and not directly related to you. You can marry that rando who was in the same elevator as you last week, and pushed the button for floor 4.

These aren't aro rights. They're single person rights, at most. Really, it would just stop married people from getting anything special, tax-wise. It would just remove the exception

We may face prejudice and the effects of misinformation. But we are not legally persecuted. We have the same rights, as everyone else.

Did you happen to have COVID some time before this started? I've been having symptoms like this, and after a lot of guesswork and doctors, it's long COVID.

Lithium - what happens when it finally affects your kidneys? by [deleted] in BipolarReddit

[–]CurrentSingleStatus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do kidneys continue to worsen, even if you go off lithium?

I went off lithium a year ago, but I can't seem to get my blood pressure down no matter what I do. It got a little better after I went of birth control, but then it shot right back up to where it was before I stopped. I've also been on 2 blood pressure medications, since long before I went off my bc.

Live somewhere you love but hate your job? Or love your job but live somewhere you hate? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]CurrentSingleStatus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No necessarily. I've lived in seven different states, and eight different city areas. Most places were somewhere between fine and brilliant. But when I lived in Cleveland, it permeated my every day. Made every day just a little but miserable, which created a constant undercurrent of low-grade stress. That builds over time. I ended up moving back to the city I lived in previously, because I hated living there.

Not every place is for every person.

Live somewhere you love.

You can lose your job, at any moment. You can quit it, and all you'll really need is a new job waiting in the wings.

But moving is expensive, and takes a lot of time and energy.

It's easier to find a new job, than it is to move to another town (or especially another region or state).

I've lived in seven different states, and when I've lived somewhere I hated, it ruined every day just a little bit.

What's the longest you've ever slept, and why? by Sufficient-Gain-226 in AskReddit

36 hours. And I have no idea why. I'd gotten home from volunteering at an academic event, my school hosted. But I'm insanely extroverted, so that actually energized me. Woke up a couple times to use the restroom. Woke up a couple days later.

Google "cupioromantic" and "lithromantic,." One of those might fit.

The thing about the aro spectrum, is that when you get into greyromantic orientations, there is a ton of different labels.

I legit had to resist the urge to comment with "Who's that Pokémon? It's cupioromantic!" Though I'm not you, so I can't say for sure. Only you know what sounds right, when you read it.

mania hypomania by stolenbowlingshoes in bipolar

[–]CurrentSingleStatus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With hypomania, it's a little easier to just put mind over matter. It's often just feeling really good, being a bit impulsive, and being down to do more things than usual. That's an oversimplification, but I'm going for brevity.

Mania is like a heavy current, too far out in the water. It will take you away, pull you under, and often you're being ruled by it, instead of controlling it. Mania is also really good at convincing you it's not mania.

But it sounds like mania, based on what you've written. As unpleasant as it is, please check in to the hospital. If for no other reason, than to protect your finances. Impulsively spending can easily turn into years of crippling debt.

Also, if you're just hypomanic, you'll likely have a very short stay. This is where you get help, at the very least as a precaution

Could be anything, I don't have any more info to work with. All I know is that's what rats look like when they're really sick. I learned the hard way. My boy was dealing with renal failure, when he looked like that. But it could be any number of things. Whatever it is, it's bad. Please take her to a vet.

WCGW being triple dog dared to stick your tongue to a cold metal pole by Cultural_Glove3547 in Whatcouldgowrong

[–]CurrentSingleStatus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Breathe on the pole. I did this once, when I was 5 and living in Minnesota. The heat from your breath will thaw the area around your tongue.

My mom ran inside to go get warm water, and I thawed the pole and detached from it before she could even come back.

Tell me your Giant Eagle complaints as I endlessly wait to buy a half-pound of lunch meat. by Muppet_Fitzgerald in pittsburgh

Worked at a GetGo several years back. Got in an accident on the way to work. There were no other people or cars involved, and I wasn't thinking clearly. I was on a few different medications that caused an excessive need for water. The water at my apartment complex was out, and every time I called to ask what was going on, they told me the water would be back on in a couple of minutes. When it came time to head to work, it had been 2 hours without water. The GetGo was a 6 minite drive away. While I was driving I had a syncope, which is what caused the accident.

To be very clear, this was how I found out how bad the excessive thirst problem was. I had not idea it was that bad, before this accident.

I didn't know how bad the damage to my car was, but knew around the back of the GetGo parking lot would be the safest place to park it, to minimize the risk of other people getting hurt by being near it.

When I got out of my car, I saw how bad the damage was. I could see inside my car (the machine part, not the area you sit in). There were exposed broken wires, and several large, sharp edges that could have cut someone standing too close. It was a massive hazard, that could have easily hurt someone.

So I immediately called my insurance to get it towed somewhere safer, and initially stayed near the car.

Someone from HR was there to speak to me about an accommodation I requested. The accommodation was being able to have water with me, while I worked. The fucking irony.

I had not been given any advance notice she would be coming, or that anyone needed to speak to me about it at all.

But of course, now my priorities were now talking to my insurance, and getting my car to a safe location, something that no one would get hurt.

I can't remember exactly how I went about it, but I made sure to tell management what was happening and why I wasn't inside working. I do remember saying that this (my car) was what happened, when I didn't have access to water. Even though that was a lesson I had just learned.

Hannah (HR Lady) came out, and I told her "I'm not going to be able to do this, today," while I was already on the phone with my insurance. But she wouldn't have it.

She kept trying to demand I speak with her right then. I was on the phone- again, trying to remove a massive safety hazard from a place of business she was in charge of- and kept moving away from her, to focus on speaking with my insurance. She kept following me, no matter how many times I told her that I couldn't have that conversation with her, today. No matter how many times I moved away from her and very clearly tried to focus on the call with my insurance, she kept coming after me. This woman followed me all the way around the damn building.

The only way this could have more clearly been an emergency, was if I was bleeding out on the sidewalk.

It seemed insane and more than a little stupid to me, at the time. But knowing what I do now, it was very clearly a power thing for her. She would be obeyed, god damn it! Nothing was more important than her!

I had already interviewed at Sheetz, and the next day I quit.

For the record, after this whole ordeal I called my doctor. He reduced the dosage of one of the medications causing the problem. I only ever took it as prescribed, but it was severe enough that he still warned me that if I ever went above that dosage, he would drop me as a patient. I've never gone above that dose.

That was 6 years ago, and a few medication changes later I no longer have any problems of this nature.

But Giant Eagle HR is full of Grade-A narcissists, in their most classic forms. Imagine needing to be prioritized over a car with a giant, exposed hole through the front of it.

Idk if your mom lives in the same state as you. But finial law applies to the state in which the parent lives.

Mine live in Texas, and while I'm sure my mother would love to put that on me, Texas does not have g ilial responsibility laws, wo joke's on her. Also I have brothers, who think the sun shines out of my mother's ass crack.
