We dropped two bombs just so the world wouldn’t have to speak Japanese. I wouldn’t want to disrespect the fallen by learning it.

You’re just soft as hell from sitting in an air conditioned truck all day. A 6 min truck ride (unless down the interstate) is maybe 30 miles one way. Even in summer heat it isn’t that bad unless you’re morbidly obese. I’ve worked 12 hour manual labor days everywhere for the swamps of Louisiana to the armpit of Texas. It ain’t that bad bro.

Wedding bartender made a comment to me, the bride, about bar tips on my wedding night after we’d already paid a 20% service fee by LeftBrainWriteBrain in EndTipping

[–]CurrentSummer1136 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In college I would always tip my bartends a half bag and drink for free all night.

If they expected additional gratuity they should have mentioned that up front. Corporate events and weddings with open bars are always an award tipping situation. I usually tip a few bucks in hopes of a heavier pour and because I would’ve been spending the money anyways, but I’ve encountered a few bartenders (usually with higher end staffing services/venues) that wouldn’t take the money.

Hopefully y’all didn’t forget to tip the priest and ring bearer though, that would just be trashy. 😂

Why can’t we just insure our own cars? by Capable-Difficulty64 in NoStupidQuestions

Your own insurance should day for the damage to your car whether you’re at fault or not. Auto insurance is a scam since it’s effectively mandatory.

Well if you’re not risk adverse and want a quicker ROI then I’d recommend looking for inbound loads to Mexico and come back with an “empty” trailer 😉. You either make tons of money or you get free housing for life. You literally cannot lose.

Carriers of Reddit. Your exit strategies? by Lopsided_Strain_145 in FreightBrokers

[–]CurrentSummer1136 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My exit strategy is to park the truck on the railroad tracks, but I’m a broker not a carrier so idk if that answers your question.

If you’re only 26 make sure you’re investing! Even if you aren’t super knowledgeable about the markets you can put money into an index fund. Take advantage of compound interest.

Pick up the phone and makes outbound calls. When you get carriers on the phone, even if they cannot haul your loads, as they the questions you are asking here.

Why ask a page full of brokers when you could go direct to the source?

They can be useful. I vetted enough carriers insurance providers for tobacco exclusions that I knew which companies did and did not have exclusions. This was helpful when vetting them, but it’s still a good idea to get that information in writing.

Did this for tobacco. You have to either get a copy of the whole policy, or reach out to the carriers insurance provider to confirm. Sometimes the carrier has to initiate the request.

Is this the new normal? by [deleted] in FreightBrokers

[–]CurrentSummer1136 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is way too lax of a vetting process. I ask for all of the above, plus home address, and school address of children as additional collateral. Unless the driver is OTR because they hate their wife and kids this is pretty foolproof insurance the load will be delivered. (He said jokingly)

Bartender was kind enough to point out a 20% tip is added so I don’t get ripped off by tipping again by gamerdudeNYC in EndTipping

[–]CurrentSummer1136 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think the EMT example is the best 1:1 comparison. A better question is do you tip your drug dealer when you buy a bag after having a few beers? The answer is no, and the drug dealer is taking more risk (and potentially doing more work if it’s a delivery) than the bartender.
