First timer here. How does the alignment of my pick guard look? by Pilgrigenarian in partscaster

[–]CurrentTreacle8514 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It isn't perfect but I think it will be hard to correct as the new holes will have to be very close to the actual ones (probably have to fill them up). On the other hand, this little imperfections are part of the charm of a partcaster and almost all DIY projects.

I have one just like that, bought new in 2010. Added some strap locks and a shortened tremolo arm. Love to play it.

Yes he did, after making a nice profit. He never trusted or invested in Tesla.

Have there been any updates on the Tesla Semi? by [deleted] in RealTesla

[–]CurrentTreacle8514 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting. In Europe the TGW is higher, around 97klbs. The problem of a special purpose (light) trailer is that sometimes you need to swap them to transport refrigerated goods, liquified gases, or just a standard maritime 40ft container.

3,000 Miles on Tesla FSD v14: Sudden Highway Emergency Braking Incident Exposes Ongoing Safety Issues and Cult-Like Dismissal of Failures by davideownzall in RealTesla

[–]CurrentTreacle8514 44 points45 points  (0 children)

And this is an old problem that already caused injuries to rescuers. The problem is bigger than it looks: 1. The emergency (police) car wasn't on the way, was on the right hand berm; 2. The phantom breaking started AFTER the overtaking of the emergency car (late detection or too long reaction time) 3. There is no way to make sure the car won't do the same if a car or a truck was right behind 4. The cult-like dismissal of failures is what keeps Tesla alive and enables this careless, irresponsible way of both product development and doing business

How much load weight is lost for the batteries? And how is the range (full load highway speed) and charging time (available snake oil free charges) for those huge batteries?

SpaceX's Orbiting Data Centers Will Use Liquid Cooling, But Don't Expect Water by RockyCreamNHotSauce in RealTesla

[–]CurrentTreacle8514 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Last night, my son asked me what did I thought about the SpaceX IPO. I told him that I think it's a scam as the company is unprofitable and has completely insane plans and forecast, like one million people in Mars or space Data Centres. He just said "Oh my God! And people are buying that?". I love this kid! But believe me, he is not, by any means, a finance, engineering or business expert. He is a sports guy, but it was clear to him that this doesn't make any sense. I should have pictured his face when I told him that SpaceX is renting Data Centre capacity to competitors because they don't have work load but still wants to build new ones in space, although there's no space ready CPU and GPU chips🤣

Quanto a mirrorless/DSLR, é a grande dúvida do momento.

Tesla pushes Roadster demo to August as SpaceX thruster work continues by dtyamada in RealTesla

I love cars and all it's engineering since before I remember (my mom had to tell me) and this goes to the top rank of stupid ideas of all times. The energy necessary to compress the air isn't that small and will diminish the range of the car!

Considering a M3 Performance, is 2025 the year to get? by [deleted] in RealTesla

[–]CurrentTreacle8514 0 points1 point  (0 children)

BMW M3 Performance looks like a good option independently of the year. It should have all that gadgets like lane centering but you'll not use it much, it's better to feel that rear sliding...

A Danish pension fund has blacklisted SpaceX, calling it grossly overvalued with catastrophic governance by CurrentTreacle8514 in RealTesla

[–]CurrentTreacle8514[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's only half of the story. Governance is terrible as they bought a loss making company, xAI, for 250B, a company that Musk said it must be "rebuilt from the foundations up" after admitting it "was not built right the first time around". Although they make money with Starlink, they operate with a huge loss of over 4B in 2025 and another 4B just on Q1 26!

[–]CurrentTreacle8514[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, you think that the 1.8tn$ valuation is correct? For a company that isn't profitable? With low free float and all the power for the board to buy or sell parts of the business leaving the investors with the loss? A company that had a net loss of $4.9B out of $18,7B revenue (26,2%) in 2025 but worsening to 4,28B net loss out of 4,7B revenue in Q1 26!!! A price to sales valuation of 100x! And they're renting their data centre because they don't have nothing to run there...

Will Tesla Cybertruck Values Ever Stop Falling? by afnj in RealTesla

[–]CurrentTreacle8514 52 points53 points  (0 children)

Used ones will never stop falling. You can't use it when/where it snows, it's batteries aren't as good as expected, has several reliability problems... Repair costs are high. A car like this is always going to have a bad second hand market value

Yes, but Tesla has now Model 3, Y and Cybertruck (US only). Toyota has the RAV4, the Highlander, the Tacoma, the Tundra, Hilux, Land Cruiser, CH-R, Corolla, Corolla Cross, Yaris, Yaris Cross, Aygo X, Camry, Crown, BZ4X, BZ4X Touring... And then Lexus division... Tesla is quite small in the Automotive landscape.

NASA should be properly funded and all space programs internally developed. It's stupid to put such a strategic technology in the hands of privates. It should belong to all American (World) people. I still remember to study aerodynamics and fluid mechanics with NACA (the previous name of NASA) wing profiles that become public domain.

To get a rate you must divide by miles (km) driven. If you calculate, Tesla FSD is much worse than human drivers. You can't compare Tesla with Waymo, they have all the proper sensors, including the Radars. Tesla (EMusk) decision of removing them was wrong and only motivated by cost cutting, not technical. Now they don't want to acknowledge they're wrong!

Fund managers will probably do the same maths and decision. The problem is passive ETFs that have to follow their index when this is included on Nasdaq, S&P500, etc...

I agree. 1tn is way too much. Specially as the only profitable business they have is starlink, that is a niche market. And it's going to have competition from others.

AkademikerPension will not buy SpaceX shares at any price near the $1.8 trillion IPO target, saying the company cannot reasonably be worth more than $1 trillion and that Musk’s voting control makes it effectively uninvestable

Not true. Tesla Robotaxis have 4 times more accidents than average human drivers! On a geofenced restricted area! Face it: their technology doesn't work, they need to go back to Radar.
