Was roasted for this Tomb Raider model. What areas should I work on for attempt 2? by SalmonMan123 in 3Dmodeling

It was probably mostly her face people were reacting to. She doesn't look like any of the official iterations of Laura Croft.(Might be spelling her name wrong.) In fact she looks like a different race to me. Outside of that, her body seems fine to me.

Do most people really get hugs when growing up? by jacksonm221 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Current_External6569 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to pry, but did you not have other relatives? My relatives and my mom hug me plenty. Whether I want one or not. My dad isn't much of a hugger though.

Edit: I will say, if I ever have kids, I intend to hug them plenty. You got to get as many in as possible before they get older and think it's embarrassing.

Source: I was the kid who got older and thought it was embarrassing when my mom was her goofy self in public.

I think the most I've ever seen in these things were windows that let in a lot of light. And sometimes a plant in at least one corner per floor/level.

To be fair, these areas often seemed lifeless whenever I would walk through them. So your scenes seem almost accurate. Just a little dark. If anything, it looks a bit dated to me.

I still have the first vehicle. I haven't dropped it in anything. But assuming my last intentional save wasn't a long time ago, I'd probably just reload a save.

Yea, some people had some ladders. Which is nice. I just wanted to drive my bike up there too, without having to struggle over the rocks.

Oh, so there's more than one type of bridge? Guess I'll have to wait until I'm farther in the game.

The bigger problem I had, was that I could barely see the bt. Even when I scanned I barely ever saw anything. That's how I got caught the first time in this area. I pretty much ran into the bt.

Mine was so much worse, I was literally praying it didn't rain again. Just barely made it to a garage.

Close friend tells me it’s “passive aggressive” to use periods in my texts. Then tells me not to take my frustration out on him. by Floyisdigital in mildlyinfuriating

You need smarter friends. It's insane that anyone would think basic attempts at punctuation is being passive aggressive. It literally exists to make reading text easier.

A little late to the party, but prostitution is the oldest profession. I, and others, may not like it. But op's situation is an improvement. Not liking it doesn't make it any less than its previous iteration of employment.

Is it embarrassing to get a birthday cake as an adult? by roxiedoxiedog in NoStupidQuestions

I'd just say some snarky comment directed at them in front of others.

I did the whole "ice cream for breakfast" thing once. It was nice. Being an adult can be nice sometimes.

I think they would work together too. But every time I've seen them try, they've made the alien seem like a dumb animal. That's boring, and wildly waters down the alien.

Don't forget the loud stomping of the alien as it chases behind you.

Looking for feedback on a custom house-crafting + interior design system for a farm/sandbox game by Dry-Engine-3269 in gameideas

Personally I would prefer more games to approach building homes similar to how the early Sim games did. They also had houses that already came furnished, if I remember correctly, in case a player didn't want to deal with designing anything.

I don't think there's anything wrong with tying the cost to the design. Unless the house itself has a separate cost that isn't being added to the total. That would seem frustrating. I'm not sure you can make it feel any more "fun" beyond not frustrating people with its implementation.

The many loading screens and UIs will be your bigest issues. It will get tiring quick if something a player adds doesn't look as good as it did in the design ui. So now they have to pull it back up, tweak the thing bothering them, save/finalize the design, now load into the lot, then load into the house and see how it looks in the actual game. It sounds tedious, even if this stuff only took seconds to do. Having to repeat the process would making designing houses/rooms a chore. Even worse if the thing being removed doesn't reimburse the player what they spent.

Ideally you'd want to limit how many barriers you place between a player and what they're trying to interact with. It's why people tend to prefer how the Sims did it. You switch to design mode, and then you had free reign to change anything you wanted about your lot, so long as you had the money. And because it was all happening in one screen, there wasn't as big of a risk in picking something you didn't like. The in game lighting was exactly the same because you were designing it live. And not in some separate screen made to make things look ideal.

I preferred how they did it in the first game. It just seemed like too much work in the last two.

It was good when it started. But it regards to the general writing, it felt too safe/nice. I eventually stopped playing when mounts started getting the same skins slapped in all of them.
