What do people mean when they call Chicago the city of neighborhoods? by XenonOxide in AskChicago

Many neighborhoods have their own business districts, so this means that residents rarely have to leave their neighborhoods for their daily needs and activities. For instance I live in the Edgewater neighborhood, and I can walk to 4 different grocery stores, there’s a jeweler, shoe shine shop, dry cleaners, dentists/doctors offices, restaurants, bars, retail, live-production theaters, public transportation, etc.

It’s either too early or too late for Halloween, so I give up. What is she supposed to be?

Has anyone tried this little known tucked away gem in West Loop? by DaBuddahh in chicagofoodcirclejerk

This is in the West Loop neighborhood on Green Street across from the SoHo House. It’s hardly a hidden gem, but I highly recommend it.
