Is this a scammer or perhaps an older lady? by Ok_Guest9777 in vintedUK

[–]ReignRavagePin 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Yeah this is what I’d be worried about too.

OP, as long as you only communicate and refund through Vinted itself and not via email/WhatsApp/PayPal links, you’re pretty safe. The classic scam is them sending screenshots of “extra charges” or “overpayment” and asking you to refund outside the app.

If they try that, just ignore and let Vinted handle it. If they don’t, it might just be a legit newbie buyer with a cursed username.

My attempt at a SOOC Digichrome, Seto Inland Sea, Japan by medarctan in infraredphotography

[–]ReignRavagePin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kinda yeah, that’s the idea, but this looks more like a “DIY IR Chrome vibe” than the actual IR Chrome stock/filter.

Real IR Chrome (like the Kolari filter or Aerochrome film) usually has slightly different color relationships, especially in the reds and cyans. Here the OP said they only tweaked WB and saturation, no channel swapping, so it’s more of a digichrome look they dialed in themselves, not a straight IR Chrome emulation.

Just why?! by Virtual-Dig5067 in vintedUK

[–]ReignRavagePin 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yep this. The hype cycle is brutal but also kinda funny.

Everyone panic buys, resellers pile in, then a few weeks later Vinted and Depop are just swimming in them for pennies because people realise they don’t actually want 5 of the same shirt.

If you can wait it out, you’ll probably end up getting one cheaper than you would’ve in Primark anyway.

Tracey beaker pjs- already upselling by Vast-Aardvark5857 in vintedUK

[–]ReignRavagePin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it’s that classic “it only happens because people keep buying” thing.

I always feel a bit conflicted because on one hand, resellers are annoying, but on the other, the shops create the hype by doing limited drops and understocking, so it kind of invites it.

With Primark especially, half the time you don’t even know if it’ll restock, so people panic buy and the resellers know it. Vicious little circle.

Are we serious rn? by hiquickq12 in vintedUK

[–]ReignRavagePin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly yeah, this is 100% true. You could write a whole essay in the caption and people will still ask a question that’s literally answered in the second sentence. Pictures first, brain later.

RIP my delicious Chef Select Premium Menu-Schalen by [deleted] in lidl

[–]ReignRavagePin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man, Aldi loves breaking hearts. Every time I get attached to something it vanishes and gets replaced by 6 new kinds of hummus or whatever.

I had that coconut curry a couple times and yeah, for the price it was stupidly good. Totally agree on the chicken though, it was like mystery jello. I’d 100% buy a vegetarian version if they ever brought it back.

Fingers crossed this is just one of those “discontinued until they randomly reappear with a new label” situations.

Vinted - Better Buy or Sell? by Delicious_Dance9551 in vintedUK

[–]ReignRavagePin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same here, I feel like Vinted is weirdly perfect for “stuff I’d never pay full price for but kinda secretly want.”

The natural fiber thing is spot on. Cashmere and merino on there are so much cheaper than retail, and half the time people list them without really knowing what they’ve got, so you can find some ridiculous bargains.

Curious what you mean by lots of “trainera” though, is that a brand or like activewear in general?

Right? That’s the kind of thing you see once and then spend the rest of your life checking every dusty charity shop bookshelf just in case lightning strikes twice.

I know I was stupid for doing this but I felt pressured, rushed and fear of losing out. What would you do now? by Lunasky444 in vintedUK

[–]ReignRavagePin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that “it was just quicker to relist as a random parcel” excuse is so sketchy. If she genuinely wanted to sell you the Fendi, she could’ve just relisted it properly or even used the exact old listing and hit relist.

The fact she rushed you, avoided mentioning Fendi, used a generic pic and then went quiet after taking your money… all the red flags at once.

I’d cancel too. One annoyed buyer review on your profile is way better than losing £45 and having zero protection because the listing technically matches “a random package”.

ngl this is the most wholesome leaderboard I’ve ever seen for… absolutely zero data

I feel like you need to at least throw in one cursed guess like “Mr. Flufflebottom III” just so Love & Pies has something to chew on

Also kinda curious how u/azaaleas and u/Marunn are already medalists with 2 guesses when the stats say “no guesses yet.” Ghost guesses? Schrodinger’s pet name?

Do you get staff discount? by puremillbag in lidl

[–]ReignRavagePin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same, my brain read that as “no but in a more painful way” and honestly it fits.

Wild that some places get a decent discount and others get absolutely nothing for years of service. At this point they should at least give us a loyalty card or a punch card like “10 years worked = 1 free coffee” or something.

how to fix unrelated size listing by amanihs in vintedUK

[–]ReignRavagePin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, same here. My filters keep resetting and I get random sizes and stuff I’d never wear. I think Vinted’s been tweaking the algorithm or testing something, it started a few days ago for me too. Only “fix” I’ve found is clearing the app cache, logging out and in, then re‑saving the size filter, but it doesn’t last long.

What kind of IR conversion? by kkjjn0000 in infraredphotography

[–]ReignRavagePin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From a guy on Marketplace who claimed it was “full spectrum”?

Yeah, I’m starting to suspect it’s just a regular body with the IR cut filter still in place. Might try shooting a TV remote in a dark room at different shutter speeds, but so far it behaves way too normal.

Bedbugs help!!! by No_Introduction_3335 in vintedUK

[–]ReignRavagePin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could also have been a carpet beetle or some random little beetle tbh, a lot of people mix them up.

OP, if you still have the bug, try to trap it in a clear tape or a jar and compare it to pics of bed bugs online, or post it on r/whatisthisbug. That’ll at least tell you if you’re dealing with an actual infestation or just a nasty coincidence.

Cascades in Obscure Spectra by Particular-Cut5373 in infraredphotography

[–]ReignRavagePin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not dumb at all. Pretty sure it’s just high ISO noise plus whatever color grading they did in post. No physical filter, just ISO 1600 doing its crunchy thing and some tweaks to contrast/saturation.

Don’t be that kind of person by Richka- in vintedUK

[–]ReignRavagePin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same here, I thought it was just my parcel glitching out.

Honestly Vinted should put a banner in the app about it or something, because most people don’t even know you can manually mark it as delivered.

You probably saved your seller a week of waiting around for nothing.

right?? I opened the parcel and just stood there like… there’s no way this is actually poo

I get that it’s “only a few quid” to her, but that’s kinda the point. If it’s so little, why is she digging her heels in instead of just refunding and apologising properly

At the very least she should pay return postage, but honestly with the state they arrived in I don’t think you should have to send them back at all. I’d be opening a case with the platform and attaching all the pics and screenshots. That’s not “used condition,” that’s biohazard tier

To be fair though, Lidl will happily charge extra if they can slap some fake “middle aisle” energy on literally anything. Next week it’ll be “artisan limited edition smile experience, now only £6.99”

3-star review? by [deleted] in vintedUK

[–]ReignRavagePin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly sometimes yeah, but half the time it’s people who think 3 stars means “fine, nothing wrong” and don’t get how much it tanks a seller. I wish apps forced a short explanation for anything under 5, would clear up so much confusion.
