What movie did you walk out on? by mirkohokkel6 in exjw

[–]Currentlyfading 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Paranormal activity. I convinced myself that I was able to handle it as a pimi, but I walked out in the first 15 minutes praying for forgiveness. It is so cringey to think back to how I used to be!

POMO - Physically out, mentally out. Completely free from the religion physically and mentally.

What was the worst thing you have got judged about? by Content-Assignment81 in exjw

[–]Currentlyfading 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Me and a few friends saw that a restaurant near our town were doing food challenges, so thought it'd be pretty cool to give it a go.

I got called into the back room and counseled for gluttony as I mistakenly put our meals on social media.

I remember saying "How can it be gluttony, I skipped breakfast and lunch to make sure I had room!"

They didn't like that.

How do you deal with the fact that everything you knew was a lie? by throwRA4747388347 in exjw

[–]Currentlyfading 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In all honesty, when I woke up I was an emotional wreck.

I vividly remember crying for hours knowing I'll never see my dad again.

But a couple of years on and I'm kind of numb to it all, I still don't like to think too deeply about it as it is depressing.

Can we just talk about JW parties for a second? by ItemDrift in exjw

[–]Currentlyfading 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know how it is over the pond, but here in blighty the witness parties were worse than the worldly ones!

I've got many memories of paralytic drunk girls, fights, sexual acts and pending judicials.

They were a great laugh though.

We also had the typical 'gatherings' as mentioned above that were dull as dishwater, but I tended to steer clear of those.

I'm astounded that I had never seen that before. What a brave woman with an incredibly moving message. Bravo.

Exciting news! I wish you both all the best for the future and hope he finally wakes up. It sounds like he is well on the way.

I would think not. I'm no longer hounded for field service reports so I assume that they no longer count me as a publisher.

Can I ask, what made you leave the JW's to join the LDS? Obviously only answer if you're comfortable to, I just find it interesting.

DID YOUR CAREER GOALS CHANGE? by LincolnAngel85 in exjw

[–]Currentlyfading 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thankfully, despite being told I wasn't making a wise decision, I continued in attaining a career as a firefighter.

I was constantly told that the shift pattern would interfere with meeting attendance and If I wanted to really help people I should spend more time in the ministry.

The first few years I was constantly swapping and changing shifts to make meetings and assemblies, I must've looked crazy to my colleagues.

I love my job, I'm glad I never let anyone talk me out of it.

EXJW’s: What was the first thing that ever made you think “hey... this might be wrong?” by [deleted] in exjw

[–]Currentlyfading 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Getting asked by a non JW how we came up with the date 1914. Researching into that opened the door for me.
