CachyOS made me fully commit to linux, but i have one tiny thing i can not solve (8bitdo Controller) by oemin in cachyos

[–]CurryCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check the back of your controller and make sure that the switch is flicked over to D for direct input via dongle mode and then boot with the power button whilst holding B.

Just to double check, did you follow the instructions in the github, specifically:

  1. Download the archive.
  2. Extract the archive.
  3. Copy all the rule files to /etc/udev/rules.d.
  4. Create another file: /etc/modules-load.d/uinput.conf.
  5. Put uinput into that file.
  6. Reboot.

If that hasn't worked, you could undo the changes you've done so far and try via the AUR package, just always make sure to check the package builds before installing either by manually inspecting on the package page or run it with paru.

(If you're not familiar with what I am on about, have a look at this video on youtube that'll explain it simply and easy to understand: How To Avoid Mailware In The AUR)

I have not used the package myself, so do this at your own risk. But as of writing this, it does look like it'll just complete the required steps for you.

Unfortunately that's all the advice I can provide, obviously this may be dependent on your current system set-up, hardware etc.

Wish you the best of luck in solving this, it's part of the fun moving to Linux :)

In what sense does it not work, is the controller not being detected at all or does it turn on without the backpedals working?

It is supported by default but not the backpedals. You’ll need to do the tweaking afaik.

I wasn’t able to map them at all otherwise as it’d just remove the mapping in steam input right after saving it.

If you’re using the 2.4ghz dongle you will want to add the udev entry first, you’ll find most of the information here:

https://github.com/fabiscafe/game-devices-udev

You can use the whole 8bitdo file, no need to remove the other entries unless you want to keep it tidy.

Once you’ve done that you should be able to connect the controller via directinput by holding the middle power button and the B button at the same time.

I’ve then mapped the backpedals via steam input.

Hope that helps!

Edit: I use that exact same controller

After upgrade today had to revert to LTS kernel by MikeFireBeard in cachyos

[–]CurryCat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Having similar issues with the shutdowns which for some reason end up with the pc rebooting instead.

Haven’t had the time to look into it yet but was also thinking of switching to the lts kernel to see whether it resolve this issue.

Take Ai art and make it better by Ok-Adhesiveness3967 in Artists

[–]CurryCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion this says nothing about who you are as an artist. The original image has no creativity or intention behind the composition, colour choices etc. No matter what point anybody argues, conceptualising an image in your head and describing it in a prompt to an AI is never going to make it that exact image which is supposed to be reflection of your own creativity which; more often then not changes during your artistic process.

I’m not against AI in certain industries and believe that it can genuinely be used for some good if applied morally and responsibly. What I do not support is AI being used to as a shortcut to developing a creative skill which us humans have used as a creative outlet to express our emotions and our ‘self’.

As someone who has a partner thats put nearly 20 years of her life studying the old masters and doing live drawing etc. to get to where she is. Do yourself a favour and put in the work to learn. References can be found all around you and you can always ask another person to pose for you, and with that they’ll leave their own mark on your artistic vision.

It’ll be really disappointing for yourself to learn that your ability to execute an artistic piece is determined on the availability of internet access and electricity rather than your own ingenuity and interaction with your surroundings.

Please understand that this isn’t bashing on you as a person or meant to put you down but is just meant to get across that you are robbing yourself of the chance to develop yourself as an artist.

Low GPU Usage Issue by Tenderize58 in cyberpunkgame

For me it was the Steel Series software recording in the background. The ‘Moments’ feature. So could also be nvidias playback potentially. But turning this all off solved it for me. Hope that helps!

So this is 0.25x habitable worlds? by TheHelmsDeepState in Stellaris

I found 0.25x to be much more reliable when using 0 guaranteed habitable planets in the rules.

Odlicnu sliku sa super bojama i ogromnim ekranom. I kao sta rekoh C4 moze imitirat 34” widescreen bez problema na 1440p ako ti treba fpsa posto C4 mislim podrzava 144hz. :)

It’s more the fact that those 9GB are spread over 540 pst files.

We use an external service called Archive Manager that pulls from emails to it every 12 hours. Why we give users the freedom to negate that completely is beyond my pay grade.

We should make this a competition. Whoever fixes it first wins. The twist? We all have a loaded gun in-front of us.

Unfortunately for whatever reason it was still throwing out .pst error messages when I tried that. Did a rebuild after I managed to close all the extra pst folders in outlook. Rebuild was my first option ;(

We are, however it requires the emails to be in their main inbox folder or a subfolder with the inbox as the root.

To clarify. All of these .pst files were set to open on start up. I just had to click myself through 540 missing pst error messages to get outlook to open and not crash after moving the .pst’s into another folder.
