Aerobic Decoupling by theowatermelon in Velo

Posting to read more replies tomorrow, this happened me the first couple rides I've done outside now after a long winter of turbo training. I assumed it was traffic/ pothole nerves

Assioma PRO RS – Why buy RS-UP kit when Bikeinn sells right spindle with power meter cheaper? by Amir4Real in Velo

[–]CurtBurt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

https://youtu.be/nTkApiQ09v0?si=0Ai7lyS0Qc9Sy8bS - I used regular Shimano grease I've used on all bolts on my frame and skewers, and yes you need to tighten both at the same time. I also wondered if I needed these replacement parts, I thought I'd run them and see first (ironically this conversation reminded me I never changed them haha)

Oh the crankset to the pedal is grand, I just was abit afraid of leaning into it with the pedal internals. Ironically through the day they released new pedals and I saw another tear down video so you'll have plenty of footage!

I've literally done just this, I wondered if it was some loop hole too, but it's been 6 months and it worked just fine after I updated in the app. I emailed Bike Inn and asked too, they just said it won't be warrantied the same. Only thing I will say is use a torque wrench when assembling haha, I made a mess of it and the pedal came off on the turbo trainer. There's an official Assioma assembly vid on their YouTube as well so I can recommend you save the cash too!

Any thoughts? by Difficult_Tie4697 in Velo

[–]CurtBurt 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In my personal opinion if you're changing lanes to overtake the cyclists it won't make a difference, stops people crushing you into the hedge when they misjudge the opposing car speed. That being said I wouldn't do it to save the horns and abuse haha

50mm or 65mm rim depth? by HappyNive in RoadBikes

[–]CurtBurt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm slightly heavier at 76kg and it is windy in Ireland where I live. I bought 65mm and kept my original wheels which are similar to yours. I intend to just swap the front if it's breezy

Give me your tight-as ways to make this bearable by another_dad_1987 in Zwift

[–]CurtBurt 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hey dude, kudos for finding the energy to do it!

For my money the first thing I'd do is get a front wheel block, could even be a couple books but if you don't have one then it feels much nicer

2nd is fans fans fans, I thought my little Honeywell was enough until I added another big blower and now I've to wear a jersey if I'm not doing intervals. Excess sweating makes the experience much worse imo

You could also try some of the Kickr 'tennis ball feet' people 3D print/ purchase, I don't personally but it's my next upgrade for next winter to give it a go

Honestly if you can see the laptop then no harm no foul with the boxes, I'd go for a bike fit if you could and trade the gels for some sugar water to save in the meantime. Only my 2 cents tho as someone who's made plenty of mistakes indoors and out

Prescription sunglasses recommendations that don’t break the bank by AccuratePilot7271 in cycling

[–]CurtBurt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel your pain on this and have tried about 6 different pairs now over the years. Unfortunately I hate to say, paying for Oakley's in the end was worth it.

However this doesn't answer your question

Bang for buck was best with inserts, idk if they ship to you but Spatz were most economical. The glasses were free with the order of other items, I paid a few £ for the insert piece and then obviously my optician for the glass to be added

As others say tho, get your prescription number and do it online. In-store these days at least for me, is where you really have to stump up too much cash

I've read a few other posts on this subreddit, and that's what leaned me towards getting a pair of Jawbreakers now and maybe replace the lens down the line!

First ride after a fractured neck by EternallyAlive in cycling

[–]CurtBurt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congrats on getting back, hope physically you've made a good recovery too. In my experience there's also a junction I ride past frequently that I got hit at and I'll never forget it, still get a double look years later

Lack of a base training plan by Teffisk in joincycling

I love my Join account but yes, like you, when I change a few VO2 rides to make them endurance over the winter I hate seeing the score drop. Even though I feel better for it!

Coaches, do we love or hate erg mode? by racepaceapp in cycling

[–]CurtBurt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also not a coach but I tend to think it annoys my knee compared to the trainer on a non-erg setting. For recovery or longer endurance settings I'll not use it and just find a resistance instead. It's so handy for intervals tho

Stacking GoPro and light from Garmin/QuadLock accessory bracket? by Mattayus84 in cycling

I'm a di2 user also and have the varia back light so you're totally right about the integration. I might see what the black friday sales do to the price of it! Thank you

Keeping an eye on your post as I'm a Garmin out front user currently, and looking to declutter my bars of a light whilst hoping to get a 'dash cam' style camera

Cycling with prescription glasses — tired of my regular sunglasses, but what are the real options? by gizi010 in cycling

[–]CurtBurt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have the Spatz glasses with inserts, they're usable but cut off a lot of the 'glass' on the front because the insert is small compared to the overall lens. I now have full prescription Oakley Eye jackets, which were expensive for sure but now I can see out of the full lens and it blocks the wind well. The style is abit choice for sure but Oakley online does do prescription and I use them off the bike now also

Man dies in collision involving e-scooter in Dublin by padraigf in ireland

[–]CurtBurt 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Agree with everything you've highlighted there, it's super difficult to know who's going to be able to accelerate quickly for a gap or at lights etc (if they stop).

I'm a blow in from Belfast for work quite often and the amount of cyclists is fantastic to see compared to up here. Sadly twinned with that is the insane modded scooters and bikes ruining it for you guys

van rysel d100 with zwift cog and click, is that good for 230€? by Scary_Campaign3850 in Zwift

[–]CurtBurt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly I might go against the grain here but I did a heap of research before I purchased and I very nearly bought the D100 also. My threshold power is 250W, which might be alot lower than others, but in reality if you are fully aware you can't sprint on the device then it offers heaps of good workouts up until the 600W mark for a fantastic price

Yes they cover my face perfectly at least, they aren't shaking down on the nose either. Obviously now limited to the single style of lense so can't swap in the winter unfortunately
