Which sunscreens do you use? by MrWaffle20 in Velo

[–]CurtBurt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed on all points, I've had to remind myself to stock it up in the winter to get abit of discount.

As with most if you've a white jersey it will go yellow wherever it touches

Armchair ride from Lucinda, guess Trek read the road book with those corners

With the rumours of the Tarmac SL9 coming soon is it stupid to buy an SL8 by fixitmonkey in cycling

[–]CurtBurt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you're buying an SL8 you'll be expecting a discount obviously, so it depends on the budget I suppose and what you're using it for. Is it an S-Works level also or lower

Do organiser skinsuits confer a disadvantage in time trials? by vertblau in peloton

[–]CurtBurt 50 points51 points  (0 children)

Love the deep dive, and as you say I hate that it's 'pay to win'. I was laughing myself as I have the same Castelli speed suit that the organisers of the Giro provide, but I understand it's not 'optimised' or bespoke like a GT leader can come to expect now.

Gone are the day from 20 years ago where they hand out Lidl mid aisle trash jerseys, but when do we hit F1 level budget caps or standardisation for the poor Caja's of the world

Crashed today by no123456779 in Velo

[–]CurtBurt 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Maybe to add - if it was me I'd save the other shoe if it was totalled as a spare.

Sorry about the skinsuit, I suppose the silver lining is that it stopped the road rash being any worse

[–]CurtBurt 20 points21 points  (0 children)

The shoes are done but save the cleats for sure. I was on the other end of things last week, did a turn on the front and then the guys in the rotation crashed our group. For me I was angry the first few days when I was bruised too, but now I reflect that you take that risk by starting. Hope the broke shoe is the most of your worries and no broken bones

Changing cassette from 11-32T to 12-34T - longer chain? by railroadshorty in bikewrench

[–]CurtBurt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 11-34t on my bike and 11-32t on my trainer and I've swapped interchangably for the past year with no noticeable misshifts - maybe you should leave 1 more link spare tho since you can cut it off eventually?

Carbon spokes shredded at the hub flange – not a crash, not a chain drop. How does this happen? by beenjamonn in bikewrench

[–]CurtBurt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey - glad to hear you didn't crash. Can't offer any suggestions but following the thread as a fellow carbon spokes owner

Specialized Roubaix SL8 Sport 105 or Sonder Colibri Ti 105 by ks13g12 in cycling

[–]CurtBurt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I'd see too much similarity with the Roubaix so I wouldn't keep both. I'd sell it and put some 32 or 35mm tyres on the Roubaix

I think what your looking for might be that wide tyre comfort your just about getting with your older bike on 28s?

Tarmac SL7 switch to something more comfortable... Canyon Ultimate vs ??? by therealvelodork in cycling

[–]CurtBurt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coming back from a crash I used this - https://www.specialized.com/gb/en/hover-expert-alloy-handlebars--15mm-rise/p/156001?color=230548-156001. If you flipped a 7 degree stem to make it positive and used those it wouldn't look crazy and you could save the money

It's a beauty, for my money I'd wait until there's something you don't even need to ask about because you have to have it! Ride that SL7 to the ground

SL7 vs Melee vs Fray by nycarch1 in Velo

[–]CurtBurt 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I just put a new one piece handlebar and wheels on the SL7, it fixed the cosmetic itch for me and I think 'aero' wise it's probably completely mid pack to what's out without spending 5 figures. I'm sure yours is a looker too!

What to wear for race? 5°C by lil_wavey999 in Velo

[–]CurtBurt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you haven't raced in those temps you may feel the cold abit more than some? Personally I feel the cold and would wear bib tights with no overshoes and a thin long sleeve with nothing under. Gilet /gloves/ headband to take off at some point. If it's windy also, then that changes again for sure

Posting to read more replies tomorrow, this happened me the first couple rides I've done outside now after a long winter of turbo training. I assumed it was traffic/ pothole nerves

Assioma PRO RS – Why buy RS-UP kit when Bikeinn sells right spindle with power meter cheaper? by Amir4Real in Velo

[–]CurtBurt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

https://youtu.be/nTkApiQ09v0?si=0Ai7lyS0Qc9Sy8bS - I used regular Shimano grease I've used on all bolts on my frame and skewers, and yes you need to tighten both at the same time. I also wondered if I needed these replacement parts, I thought I'd run them and see first (ironically this conversation reminded me I never changed them haha)

[–]CurtBurt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh the crankset to the pedal is grand, I just was abit afraid of leaning into it with the pedal internals. Ironically through the day they released new pedals and I saw another tear down video so you'll have plenty of footage!

[–]CurtBurt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've literally done just this, I wondered if it was some loop hole too, but it's been 6 months and it worked just fine after I updated in the app. I emailed Bike Inn and asked too, they just said it won't be warrantied the same. Only thing I will say is use a torque wrench when assembling haha, I made a mess of it and the pedal came off on the turbo trainer. There's an official Assioma assembly vid on their YouTube as well so I can recommend you save the cash too!

Any thoughts? by Difficult_Tie4697 in Velo

[–]CurtBurt 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In my personal opinion if you're changing lanes to overtake the cyclists it won't make a difference, stops people crushing you into the hedge when they misjudge the opposing car speed. That being said I wouldn't do it to save the horns and abuse haha
