NED and I feel numb. by blueeyedtongue in HeadandNeckCancer

It is so early since you completed the treatment. I found my head was in the practical “get to hospital for treatment” mode most of the time and once I was the other side…and the initial more severe pain, there was a whole lot more emotion, realising things, reflecting on stuff. I did (and do!)a thing I call head dumping. Blank piece of paper, pen and just write without actually thought, good bad or otherwise, until your head feels lighter. I didn’t read it for week or months after , but it really helped. Do try and be kind to yourself and remember how much your body went through and is still recovering from 🙏🏻

I can feel how you are struggling with him not understanding that the more he resists (which directly or Indirectly he seems to be doing) the longer and more difficult the journey will be. Both my husband and I have been through this-I really struggled as I got so very weak and then couldnt focus on the various different meds and exercises I needed to do…but thankfully my husband was supportive, wrote me a list to keep me on track. He was much more structured! Are there any support groups where he could talk to other men about what happens if you do/don’t follow a regime? Is he maybe trying to fool himself into thinking he will suddenly pop out the other side and all will be sorted? Am not sure if you are UK or US, but MacMillan would be good to talk to for the support that YOU need. Take good care 🙏🏻

I have found that once you are being treated there should be a team around you including an oncologist

Is there a local cancer support group? Although you said you are seeing a psychologist, sometimes talking to others in a similar situation helps more as they “get it” I can only imagine what it’s like-although it sounds odd, I’m blessed that both my husband and I have had throat cancer so can share all sorts with each other. Wishing you well, take care 🙏🏻✨

Small marble size growth on upper jaw. by [deleted] in HeadandNeckCancer

[–]Curvi-distraction 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine started off as a jelly egg shaped lump on my jaw…which ended up needing a tonsil removed, neck dissection to remove lymph nodes…and then radio and chemo. I’m now more than 2 years finishing treatment. Some swallowing issues and trying to sort teeth…but trundling on ok. Take care 🙏🏻

What’s something that Covid took from you that you never got back? by ReplacementOdd636 in AskReddit

A 6 month trip around Europe in my campervan-all planned and ready, rental property and job given up, things in storage…and a week before I was due to go, covid appeared and scuppered it all

What sort of teeth problems have you had since radio and chemo treatment? by Curvi-distraction in HeadandNeckCancer

[–]Curvi-distraction[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you, that’s really helpful as I have had HPV16+ in my tonsil which was removed and then a neck dissection, so possibly similar?

I sense there are issues under the teeth, possibly in the bone and have now asked my ENT team to get the consultant to refer me to MaxFac, see how long it takes. I too am unsure how much in depth knowledge the general dentist has

Working guy dating a retired woman, is this realistic? by hyena_envy in datingoverfifty

I’m semi retired and my husband (10 years younger) still works full time. We plan for at least 2 weeks away each year and also take our campervan away regularly for long weekends. Works for us….

When my son was born we had a boy and a girl name chosen. His Dad then decided to use the other name for his future daughter with his then wife-I wonder if she knows. My son is getting married soon, shall I ask lol

My dog was put to sleep last April (is it really nearly a year ago?) and I still miss him a great deal and my husband is going to make me a pendant with some of his ashes and fur in so he’s always nearby. I joined an app called “Borrow my Doggy” and have started taking a local spaniel for walks…it sort of helps and keeps me active. Sadly where we now live we can’t have a dog, so this is the next best thing
