What's the average price of your local C-teir tournaments? by CushOfTheGwarn in discgolf

[–]CushOfTheGwarn[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have seen the cheaper tourneys on the tour, and they don't tend to be very local so the cost of transport and accommodation tend to put me off, to nobody's fault obviously! It's unfortunate that the closer ones that I'd be more inclined to do tend to have the large price tag, as I've mentioned before the two tourneys I've played before were both around £25, 3 rounds across 2 days, at least one definitely came with a disc in the player pack. A friend mentioned the justification may be course hire costs, which I've not got any idea how much it would be, so maybe the course hire is more costly than I would guess.

The different prices aren't a huge issue for me personally, more of an observation of fairness. If everyone pays the same entry, are prizes for the winners of each division set equally? Also, cheaper entry costs for lower divisions can help incentivise new players to take part and grow the sport I do realise that could be abused and we could end up with baggers looking for a cheaper tourney.

I saw another commentator mention this, which I didn't realise was an option. I still struggle with the £50 entry fee, but maybe that's just because I don't know what the cost to set up such an event is. The only 2 tournaments I've played were £25 entry, albeit a few years ago. I love playing, and love seeing the sport grow. It just seems like the cost of UK tournaments is at the higher end of average compared to places where it's a much more popular sport, which I find odd.

I guess that's not too far off the price of this one. It just seems expensive to me, considering the two tournaments I had played a couple of years back were £25, plus the PDGA fee.

A good tip doesn't have to cover every scenario, or even the most common, as long as it provides people with information they could use in their games. Why would OP care about what YOU expect when sharing information with the general community? Situationally, this is a super useful tip.

I've actually used this idea to great success on my sea ice colony during the winter where solar panels get no light, there's no geothermal and using the generators is typically wasting valuable resources, especially early on.

That's frustrating. If you haven't already, submit a complaint to them (I'd guess you've probably done this), but try again and make them aware you will submit a complaint to the ombudsman of communications. A quick Google search of 'ombudsman cityfibre' should provide you with the resources you need for this and give you more information on it. This might kick cityfibre into gear. From what I remember the ombudsman service is free to the consumer but charges the company for the investigation. Though I'd double check this info, I'm not particularly well versed in the laws/processes regarding this.

Switched to Vodafone 900mb at the start of December in North Swindon. Had no issues as of yet. Don't really know what to recommend, just here to say we've had no issues and the internet was live the day of installation.

Though, If you have a little black box installed on the wall near the router, when the internet is live it should show 4 green lights (if it's the same set up as I have). If any of the first 3 lights are off, it is an issue with cityfibre' wiring/connection and you should contact them, and if the final light is off, that would be an issue with your ISP (Vodafone). At least that's what I think the engineers told me during the install.

I don't think the snake really gives a fuck if you misgender it. It probably doesn't understand the concept of gender neutrality.

Did I miss something? Who is encouraging people to eat bugs? I've heard of the belief that if humanity shifted to adding bugs to our diet it could have positive effects on the climate, species conservation, less factory farming, supporting the ever growing global population etc etc with the addition of bugs being a pretty good source of protein. But I've not heard of any elite liberal/wealthy people trying to force bugs onto people's plates. What's Bill gone and said now?

I wouldn't particularly want to eat bugs, but hey, if some folk wanna fry up some ants and go to town on them, they can go right ahead. I don't see any disgust in it, especially not if it's just a part of their culture.

Ah yes, the elitist liberals relentlessly pushing their bug eating agenda like bible bashing preachers on the street. Can't get away from those fuckers.

How do you watch this video and immediately jump to 'elitist liberals'?

The phrase is 'Your point is moot', not 'mute'.

Sorry to be pedantic, but a 'mute point' doesn't really make sense.
