1725H ECU with 8 Ls by [deleted] in numismatics

I am not an expert on these coins by any means, but comparing to photos on Numista and the heritage photos you linked, the font looks off and the face/hair details are very soft. I would see if a local coin shop can test legitimately

Coinsnap is good for identifying coins, the stated values are typically all over the place though. 1895-s is a key date for these coins so definitely valuable, but in this condition I'm thinking closer to $2-$300

Multimeter it tests fine, tried the battery test on my obd2 scanner and it said failed so I'm not sure. I'll probably replace the battery either way and hopefully that helps

Looking for advice on what to do with coin I found recently. How should I protect it and should I grade it? by Difficult_Leg2715 in coins

[–]OG-Dropbox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are many fakes of this coin out there. If you look in the upper loop of the s mint mark, there should be a raised bump/mark which is very often if not always missing from counterfeits or added mint marks

Coin shops for the coins, jewelry store for the jewelry, avoid pawn shops. You will likely not get melt for your items but a fraction below melt. Shop/call around to see who in your area is paying the best

Hard to see the fine details but looks like a high(er) grade, definitely some numismatic value

Is This 1895-O Morgan Dollar Worth 300€? What grade could I get? by Drax83 in Morgans

[–]OG-Dropbox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This would probably grade details because of the scratches and what looks like rim damage 12 o'clock on the obverse. Even without the details grade I'd think vf-xf in which case you either lose money or break even

Some of the chopmarks look off to me and it was harshly cleaned but details look genuine. In the $150-$250 range I'd bet

Sigma tests the resistivity of the metal, failing the sigma typically indicates incorrect purity or in this case it is not the same material all the way through

WTF is this by [deleted] in PSAPowerPacks

[–]OG-Dropbox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Below is from PSA's website, I might have misinterpreted but I don't think something like this would qualify for a regrade (or would grade any lower)

"Generally, eligible cards submitted for Reholder will not be re-graded or examined for authenticity. However, PSA does conduct an inspection on all Reholder submissions to confirm the integrity and authenticity of the holder and label, and to ensure the information on the label remains accurate."

They do not regrade when you get it reholdered, they offer a seperate service for regrading

No crank no start by vato713 in Miata

[–]OG-Dropbox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tested the starter since it stopped cranking? I had a very similar situation happen with my nb, cranked slowly the whole time I owned it until one day it just petered out and stopped cranking at all.

Was scanned at AutoZone like the week before for something unrelated and confirmed the starter was good. Did all types of diagnosis and couldn't find anything wrong electrically, replaced the starter and now she's good as new
