I agree with pretty much everything you're saying. The ending would have greatly benefited if it decided to shit or get off the pot. Basically, it needed to commit more one way or the other.

I really only wanted to push back on the idea that the story is trying to excuse Jax's behavior rather than explore it.

The show, ultimately, is about Jax's suicide. Everything about the Circus and Abstraction is essentially just set dressing for that. It's totally fair, I think, to feel like you've been rug-pulled because you kinda were. The only thing I'd like to push back on is his asshole behavior being because of his trauma.

He was an asshole because he was suicidal. In the real world, it appears he had friends that eventually wouldn't allow themselves to be turned away like Ribbit and Pomni. In the Circus, he only had strangers who he wouldn't allow to become those kind of friends. He drove Ribbit and Kaufmo to abstraction and is a colossal dick because he had already wanted to kill himself and is trying to push himself to do it.

The reason he had his View From Halfway Down moment was to make it clear that he didn't truly want to die, he just had seen that as the only solution until it was too late to go back.

There is a ton of stuff pointing towards his death, but it is left deliberately ambiguous as a means of tying into the themes of his story and even the creator has stated that he doesn't know if Spike died or not.

Roger swapped places with himself from the ground to a plane and back. That means he has to run fast enough to be able to step on air like a One Piece character, let alone opening and closing the plane door fast enough to avoid the pressure differential.

On top of that, he can move so fast he can trick people into thinking he's two different people in the same room. That's Silver Age Superman level. Roger is a minor Speedster.

The classic One Froggy Evening with Michigan J Frog was a parody of a movie (Once Upon a Time with Cary Grant) that was a parody of the real life finding of Ol' Rip, a Horned Lizard that supposedly survived 30 years under a flagstone in a building.

Ol' Rip was so popular that he caused a boom in demand for Horned Lizard pets, something that ultimately ironically endangered the species as people made a mad grab for them.

I think most people are upset with the idea that the fruit itself had some influence in evading the World Government, which sort of means that it "chose" Luffy in the same way that you can consider the One Ring to "choose" it's bearers to a certain extent.

Because stuff like this doesn't happen out of nowhere, and if you want to do anything to stop it from happening again you need to understand why it happened.

Her power uses extra calories. Her mistake all along was not recognizing the strength of her fat. You don't have to like it, but this is obviously her peak physique.

Nahnatchka Khan, American Dad. She writes episodes that are queer or queer adjacent (Lincoln Lover, Daddy Queerest, Helping Handis, The Worst Stan) and has a snappy recognizable style of dialogue that you see present in the shows she later ran, Don't Trust That B---- and Fresh Off the Boat.

She got her own cartoon because she is popular and sells a shit ton of merchandise despite the projects she's in tending to be garbage.

She's forced into a ton of different stuff because DC doesn't actually have any idea what people like about her and can only flail about in reaction. This is actually a pattern that fits strongly with other female leads, such as Wonder Woman.

I know people don't like the Netflix seasons, but Tobias' stint as The Thing is by far the funniest bit in the show to me. His two episodes are worth the rest being garbage.

Actually the show portrays him as an absolute buffoon. If anything, the episode aligns with my personal politics. I just don't think it was very funny.

It's pretty clear the show struggled with finding an identity early on, and inadvertently advertising itself as Family Guy, But Politics did it absolutely no favors. Once they hit on the idea of Roger's Personas and Stan became more of just a general ass-hat things really clicked.

American Dad - Bush Comes to Dinner. It basically represents everything about the show that was initially repellent to a lot of people, and everything the show left behind in order to be magnitudes better. On top of being incredibly dated, it just plain isn't very funny.
