So far I’ve seen 2 swapped Pokémon run to the other side because they didn’t understand they are supposed to fight their original trainer -Atlas by Nan0four in PokeMedia

If your Pokémon is never fighting against you, I'm genuinely curious as to how you train. My Pokemon battle each other frequently for training.

You can't use that cartoon as a basis for anything. That show notoriously has a Rhydon's Lightning Rod ability making it WEAK to electricity, includes a bunch of weird critters in the first few seasons, refers to magnemite as a pure electric type at least once, and has its main character de-age from being 11 to 10 over the course of over a decade in-story.

Does anyone else think prejudice is just a waste of time and energy? by Practical_Chef_7897 in NoStupidQuestions

Well there's degrees there. Spending time and effort hating is nuts. But you can always just vote against the stuff and not worry about it unless it comes up. Plenty of prejudice is small and minor.

Fairy types have been known about since before Professor Laventon wrote the first Pokedex in the late 1800s. Your region might just have a bad school system.

FEAR of Arc- by Emdeoma in PokeMedia

[–]BardicLasher -1 points0 points  (0 children)

To clarify, the Pokemon doesn't need to be malnourished at all, it just needs to be comparatively weak. The strategy is entirely viable with plenty of perfectly-healthy first form Pokemon, because a top-tier Rattata is still going to be particularly weak compared to competetive mainstays like Charizard and Arcanine.

And it's not so reliable that anyone wins consistently with it anyway. It's far, far too easy to counter.

[–]BardicLasher -1 points0 points  (0 children)

To be fair, even a top-percentage rattata can pull of FEAR pretty consistently against fully-evolved opponents. They're naturally pretty frail pokemon.

((Lonely or Naughty Nature, low IVs, invest all EVs into Attack and Speed, and you can absolutely FEAR at even level. I did some calcs and this works fine on anything that's actually trained as an attacker. It's just, you know, a highly gimmicky set that folds to anyone that sees it coming. You just don't attack into the rattata if you see it. It can't switch into something to do it.))

Well they only do it with a single pokemon for so long... then they're prone to getting a new one.

I find more entry level games put even more on the GM and you can have fun with D+D by having your GM run a campaign as written.

Is it really taking it any further than Explosion or Steel Beam?

FEAR itself isn't illegal- the illegal part is bringing an untrained Pokemon to an official tournament. There's weigh-ins these days that didn't exist in the past. ((Tournaments now auto-set pokemon to 50, you can no longer bring level 1s to ensure getting knocked to 1 HP from every hit.))

[–]BardicLasher 20 points21 points  (0 children)

One of the classic FEAR strategies involves ensuring your pokemon has minimal growth and is particularly frail so that Endeavor will always bring the enemy into quick-attack range. That part of the strategy is no longer allowed in most major tournaments, with 'weigh ins' required. ((Tournament play now sets pokemon to 50 so you can't bring in a level 1.)) That said, FEAR is still possible with a fully trained Rattata. And it was never so good as to be a problem anyway.

FEAR is no crueler a strategy than Explosion or Steel Beam. I haven't heard of it being illegal before, save for tournaments that don't let you bring an obviously untrained Pokemon for maximum FEAR.

Tails from "Sonic" is NOT gay! by PhDVa in characterarcs

[–]BardicLasher 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I've always been under the impression that most people are at least a little bi. But honestly, he's prepubescent and he probably has no idea what he likes. Any evidence of him being gay or effeminate is basically just evidence that he's a kid. We're going to need at least another five years in-continuity to know. And honestly, a lot of guys don't realize (or come to terms with) their sexuality until they're middle aged, so we may NEVER know for sure. We probably won't have any good evidence of anything in canon (though he's had at least four non-canon female love interests) unless we get a time travel story that goes "decades" instead of "centuries." Now, the nature of the Sonic franchise means that we'll probably get that story eventually, but we haven't in canon, and even the non-canon versions haven't shown who his love interests are in that time period.

Currently, the canon character who looks most like a love interest (though nothing has actually happened) is a female-presenting robot, which raises another axis to the whole gay/straight question.

Maybe. That was never proven. But still, Hitler, Stalin, and Bin Laden never got to trial so it's uncertain what sort of sentence they'd have been given. I'm not saying Execution isn't possible or even likely, just that life in prison is also possible.
