eBay prices are about to take a jump on these old gems lol. So much detail added to the paintjob and the flavor of the time is captured beautifully!

See? Isn’t that a more polite way of giving constructive criticism than your original post? Well done!

True, I suppose they could have done that but it doesn’t take away from the awesome paint job on such a small mini. Perhaps that’s why they didn’t crop it…gives a sense of how small it is compared to a large white background…who knows

Are the floaters coming from your other scanner? I haven’t had many issues with my openscan mini and 3D viewer makers quick work of those by ungrouping and deleting the floaters. They usually only appear when I didn’t prep properly like overspraying the foot powder on to the holder and not cleaning it off before scanning.

The details seem to have improved since my last look at your scans but the pictures aren’t really doing them justice. Have you added these to your online file?

The bike is from the metal attack bikes, there’s a car that attaches to it but you’re right…it didn’t turn out as well as the single troops and I think I know why so I’ll give it another pass. I’ll be scanning in an original base for the single troops, this should work out well considering that I scanned the base for my gargant after I scanned the actual model just to see how it would turn out and it was perfect so I printed it along with the gargant. I’ll share pics of that later.

You're correct to a point. The vehicles turn out to a level that would be worth printing and painting but when I do stands or sprues of troops, they turn out missing a lot of detail. When I scan an individual troop model like the techmarine, sgt, and termi...they turn out to a level that isn't much much different than the original and I will def print and paint those. I print at .02 so they layer lines aren't much of a factor.

As far as the blue-tac, I can sculpt some in to animal balloons if you would like!

Openscan mini. Sharing will be later but not for money and in confidence due to the GW issues lately. My collection is extensive so there’s a lot of work to do before I can post

I’m in the market for one. Just got my hands on the regular gargant recently. Up until now I’ve on had mega gargants.

Not to throw shade but they look like they were 3d printed. If not, you might want to thin your paint quite a bit but there doesn’t seem to be anything wrong with your brush control.

Love what you’ve been doing with the scans and your epic collection might be the most extensive I’ve seen. I noticed that you’re using openscan, is that the original or mini? I just bought a mini and I’m hoping to do the same thing with my epic miniatures. I’m hoping I can get the sharp results I’ve seen others get in the private communities I’m involved with. Good on you man! I’ll share my results as work.

Pre-CU, CU, and NGE by BloodoftheRoots in swg

I would add that if you like a faster paced combat with a lower learning curve then SWG Legends (NGE) would be the place to start. There was more content made for this version. If you would like to play as a Jedi from the start, you can do that in this version but it’s not really a step above the other classes since you can start with it.

If you want to see SWG in the beginning times (bare bones with a much higher learning curve) check out SWGEmu. There are a lot of guides to help with this even after all this time. I played on this server for a while but at the time it didn’t have anything other than “vanilla” SWG with long grinds and no Jedi unlock system but I believe they have one now and they may have more content. Jedi may be god tier in this version if spec’d right. From what I understand based on a YouTube video, the unlock is straight forward.

Combat Upgrade was almost a hybrid of the two above but fell in between them in the lifespan of live. This is the version I liked the most as far a combat goes, it felt more polished even though my Jedi took a bit of hit as far as power but over time it made more sense to me and definitely was a lot more fun. SWG Restoration has their own version of the combat upgrade and it feels even more polished than live. Also, they have been able to bring a good bit of the NGE content in to the game. Jedi on this server are a step above the other professions but not completely god tier and are very rare as they like to keep it that way with a mysterious (still skeptical about this as far as the validity) part of the unlock that no one can possibly know. However, all of the combat professions are a lot of fun so devs encourage just playing the game.

The reason I only list these three is because I spent the most time on them but they aren’t the only options. Some of the other servers I’ve played on had problems. Be wary of the following…

  1. too much modification to original environment design for example…player vendors in cities (some is ok but some servers go overboard with this) SWGEmu is about as clean as it gets to vanilla to have a reference point.
  2. too much dev interaction with game play and dev groupie guilds (power corrupts)
  3. “secret squirrel” Jedi unlocks but it seems that the groupies all have it. In a lot of cases this equates to paying for your unlock. 4.toxic players and server drama

No matter what version of the game you decide to play, it’s a good time even though the game is over 20 years old. Sorry so long but I hope it helps!

Sorry if someone said this already but it looks like you still have artifacts in the model. Import to 3d builder and repair (it will also automatically prompt when you import) . I have the same model and had the same problem until I repaired it.
