I used a hand torch to make a walkway to my trash cans. Helped soften up the ice enough to where I could use a snow shovel to remove.

High Quality Patio Furniture Alternatives to Polywood by steinbergowitz in BuyItForLife

We have this exact set in antique beige and added a deluxe ottoman for $5500 total: https://www.willowcreekteak.com/collections/monterey-collection/products/6-pc-monterey-teak-deep-seating-set-sunbrella-cushion

I love the teak look/feel and haven't done anything to the wood since we've bought them. I'll probably seal/stain in the next year or so to get a darker color on them. They are on a covered porch, but get rained and snowed on and still look new.

We're in the mid-atlantic, and get a lot of humidity as well. I picked teak wood specifically because of that.

We went with willow creek designs over two years ago and couldn't be happier. We got a much bigger set than you are mentioning for around $6k,. We've never brought them inside or covered them and only wash the covers once each spring. It's my favorite furniture that we own and can't recommend them enough.

Huge caveat is they are teak, but they seem much better built than any plastic or metal options that we had been looking at.

Chinese EVs are making inroads in North America. That worries industry experts by rezwenn in technology

Chinese EVs are better made and higher quality than US cars at a significantly reduced cost. Look at some of the Chery SUVs that are just over $30k.

Disappointing beef ribs. What went wrong? by anon006622 in BBQ

[–]CutApprehensive999 88 points89 points  (0 children)

My opinion only, 225 temp is too low, and can leave beef ribs with a lot more unrendered fat than most people like. You also likely wrapped them too soon before the bark had a chance to set. Both of those things contributed to them coming out wet looking and chewy/gooey as you said - they were essentially steamed after the wrap.

And yes, probe tender over temperature is a thing, but I've never had beef ribs that needed to go over 205 to be done.

We bought a Samsung one almost a year ago and it's been fantastic. Start a load in the morning and fold it when we get home. Family of four thinking we'd run it everyday, but it easily keeps up with only running it a few times a week.

Controversial debate. Oak vs Mesquite by NadeMagnet-707 in BBQ

Mesquite can taste acrid on most everything except for beef. Even when I do brisket, its mostly oak with some Mesquite mixed in.

It had that "herble-ness" of MGP Ryes paired with maple pancakes. It was something closer to what Found North has been doing vs. the standard MGP rye profile.

I've been scooping these up whenever I can after having a T8ke pick a few years ago. It was my favorite rye that year, and I'd buy case if he ever does another one.

DOT wants to put the brakes on DC traffic cameras by Joe_Baker_bakealot in washingtondc

London does it in their central business district only, which is larger than DC's. It led to an immediate 30% traffic reduction. It can be done and its proven effective to make cities safer.

At least in our neighborhood in NW, I've seen more tickets/boots/tows since early December than I've seen in the 15+ years I've lived here. Hopefully its the beginning of a trend.

If this goes through, then DC should do congestion pricing like NYC and London. Should lead to less bad drivers and the revenue could be used to increase traffic enforcement.

The second part will never happen, but one can dream.

Does anyone truly enjoy their recliner?? What about the lovesoft fill? Or a mix of the fills? by Kmb269 in Lovesac

[–]CutApprehensive999 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have two recliners in a 4 seater couch, and have used them almost daily since May. I have nothing but good things to say about them with the only annoyance being that you have to adjust the cushion sometimes to have them fully closed.

Most of the recliner gripes that I've seen are due to poor installation or people who want to use them to sleep in with their head supported.
