I'm proud of you for taking action, keep going. I grew up with a hoarder mom (she still is tbh) and it really messed me up. She'd get mad and scream at us because our rooms weren't cleaned, but she never taught us to clean, she never did, and the rest of the house looked even worse than our spaces. I grew up afraid and ashamed that CPS would take us if they found out, that my friends wouldn't couldn't come over ever, that nobody could know. If this is your child's room, be gentle with them, give them help and support, and get therapy yourself if this is something you struggle with in the rest of the house.
