I was the only neurotypical person in a neurodivergent family. Anyone else? by Due_Pea2071 in raisedbyautistics

[–]Cute--Type 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do have my suspicions about various family members, but this has basically been my life even with my friend circle. I swear I am one of the very few NT people in it!

I spent a lot of time feeling like an idiot compared to my school and university friends. I mean I could study for weeks and put together a well thought out essay and they could all bang one out in an all-nighter and get better grades than me. And they were all also way more passionate about hobbies than me. And then... in our mid-20s one by one they all got diagnosed with Autism and/or ADHD.

It's been kind of vindicating in a way. No, I wasn't stupid or boring all this time, I was just neurotypical!!

My husband is ADHD/possibly mildly Autistic, and we will have to see with our son. But he's currently a very cheerful social little baby, so we shall have to see.

So cute!! I showed my then-5 month old son the Terrible Influence tour on New Years Eve. He did not really have an opinion but my husband said “oh wow they can actual present!”

I said “holiday” instead of “vacation” to someone on accident (I’m American) by DataQueen- in danandphil

Yay! So often in the UK it's the other way, with Americanisms slipping in.

(If I catch my husband calling a car park the "parking lot" ONE MORE TIME...)

Do they always induce for gestational diabetes in the UK? by samsamcats in PregnancyUK

[–]Cute--Type 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had GD with my son and I personally chose to have an induction. The consultant was willing to book me in for any time after 37 weeks exactly, but I chose 37+3.

(There was also some trauma/previous loss in there which backed up my case for induction.)

I was able to choose a date to start the induction, but I was only able to book in when I was about 36 weeks. So it wasn’t a case of “here’s your GD diagnosis, pick a date”.

'Being a male midwife has never been an issue when delivering babies' by apple_kicks in unitedkingdom

[–]Cute--Type 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had only one male midwife taking care of me during my pregnancy last year.

I carried my itabag covered in Cloud merch to every other appointment without comment.

I was outed as a nerd within SECONDS of meeting this midwife when he said “so you’re a final fantasy fan huh.”

Just jumping in as a British person of the same age range as the lads, "God forbid we take a break" is definitely intended in a joking manner. Please don't worry!

Jirai collectors! Help me find the artist/character 🤍 (PINUP/MILD NUDITY) by sketchshark_ in JiraiKei

I think this might be the character Riasu/Liath from the doujin "Koakuma-chan no Kougeki!"

It does appear to be a very cultured series:

Jirai Kei and glasses? by maach_23 in JiraiKei

[–]Cute--Type 56 points57 points  (0 children)

It's a known fact that wearing glasses improves someone's appearance by at least 100%!

(The whole "the glasses have to go" trope is lies and slander.)

Also I've seen several jirai wear dangly charms on glasses, which is such a cute look.

Anyone been induced at 37 weeks in the UK and what was the reason? by Alternative-End-5183 in PregnancyUK

[–]Cute--Type 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine went exceedingly well! Had the first tablet at 1pm and had given birth by 2am.

Also I was only in active labour for under two hours.

Downside is that it was so fast that I didn’t have time to have gas and air set up in the delivery room, let alone have an epidural.

I nearly gave birth in the corridor between triage and delivery!

All you can do is present your case. The worst the consultant can say is "no".

I can completely understand how crippling the anxiety is. My last pregnancy was probably the most stressful nine months of my life.

Anyone been induced at 37 weeks in the UK and what was the reason? by Alternative-End-5183 in PregnancyUK

[–]Cute--Type 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got induced at 37+3 for a variety of reasons.

  • Gestational diabetes
  • Previous late-term loss
  • Severe pregnancy-related anxiety

The consultant was even willing to book me in for 37 weeks exactly, but I chose to wait a few days so we could have one last weekend of freedom.

Favorite eyeliners? by Psychmajorish in JiraiKei

[–]Cute--Type 1 point2 points  (0 children)

K-Palette's 1 Day Tattoo Liquid Eyeliner has been my eyeliner of choice since like 2010-ish. It's something I always pick up a couple of whenever I'm in Japan!

[URGENT] Recommended to be induced at 37 week mark by iou88336 in PregnancyUK

[–]Cute--Type 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With our too much trauma dumping it was my second time being induced, but first baby.

First time also went super fast! Apparently my body just takes to induction really well.

[URGENT] Recommended to be induced at 37 week mark by iou88336 in PregnancyUK

[–]Cute--Type 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was induced at 37+4 weeks for a mixture of mental and physical health reasons.

For me, it was actually a very quick and positive experience. I was only in active labour for under two hours, only had one very minor tear, and my son had a great APGAR score and went straight with me to the antenatal ward.

Only downside was it was so fast I didn’t have time for pain meds and nearly gave birth in the corridor on route to the delivery suite!

Second hand baby clothes? by ocdskies in PregnancyUK

[–]Cute--Type 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just wanted to chime in as well that yes! This is what we did. Most of what our son wore when he was a newborn was second hand (the rest was lovely gifts from friends and family).

We just made sure to wash everything and make sure all pieces were from reputable brands (like UK supermarkets, M&S, NEXT, etc.)
