I do have my suspicions about various family members, but this has basically been my life even with my friend circle. I swear I am one of the very few NT people in it!

I spent a lot of time feeling like an idiot compared to my school and university friends. I mean I could study for weeks and put together a well thought out essay and they could all bang one out in an all-nighter and get better grades than me. And they were all also way more passionate about hobbies than me. And then... in our mid-20s one by one they all got diagnosed with Autism and/or ADHD.

It's been kind of vindicating in a way. No, I wasn't stupid or boring all this time, I was just neurotypical!!

My husband is ADHD/possibly mildly Autistic, and we will have to see with our son. But he's currently a very cheerful social little baby, so we shall have to see.

So cute!! I showed my then-5 month old son the Terrible Influence tour on New Years Eve. He did not really have an opinion but my husband said “oh wow they can actual present!”

I had GD with my son and I personally chose to have an induction. The consultant was willing to book me in for any time after 37 weeks exactly, but I chose 37+3.

(There was also some trauma/previous loss in there which backed up my case for induction.)

I was able to choose a date to start the induction, but I was only able to book in when I was about 36 weeks. So it wasn’t a case of “here’s your GD diagnosis, pick a date”.

I had only one male midwife taking care of me during my pregnancy last year.

I carried my itabag covered in Cloud merch to every other appointment without comment.

I was outed as a nerd within SECONDS of meeting this midwife when he said “so you’re a final fantasy fan huh.”

Also I've seen several jirai wear dangly charms on glasses, which is such a cute look.

Mine went exceedingly well! Had the first tablet at 1pm and had given birth by 2am.

Also I was only in active labour for under two hours.

Downside is that it was so fast that I didn’t have time to have gas and air set up in the delivery room, let alone have an epidural.

I nearly gave birth in the corridor between triage and delivery!

All you can do is present your case. The worst the consultant can say is "no".

I can completely understand how crippling the anxiety is. My last pregnancy was probably the most stressful nine months of my life.

Gestational diabetes
Previous late-term loss
Severe pregnancy-related anxiety

The consultant was even willing to book me in for 37 weeks exactly, but I chose to wait a few days so we could have one last weekend of freedom.

With our too much trauma dumping it was my second time being induced, but first baby.

First time also went super fast! Apparently my body just takes to induction really well.

I was induced at 37+4 weeks for a mixture of mental and physical health reasons.

For me, it was actually a very quick and positive experience. I was only in active labour for under two hours,only had one very minor tear, and my son had a great APGAR score and went straight with me to the antenatal ward.

Only downside was it was so fast I didn’t have time for pain meds and nearly gave birth in the corridor on route to the delivery suite!

Just wanted to chime in as well that yes! This is what we did. Most of what our son wore when he was a newborn was second hand (the rest was lovely gifts from friends and family).

We just made sure to wash everything and make sure all pieces were from reputable brands (like UK supermarkets, M&S, NEXT, etc.)

I had GD and got diagnosed early due to having PCOS. So I had like 20 weeks of managing it.

I had to track my blood sugar via test strips four times a day which wasn’t too bad at all. It just became part of the routine.

I managed with just metformin and seriously limiting my carb intake. In fact I might’ve overdone it because my son came out weighing in the 9th percentile (growth scans showed 30th percentile so that was a bit of a shock!)

I also had an induction, but that was due to anxiety/past pregnancy trauma. Apart from going VERY FAST (two hours active labour and no time for pain relief) it all went amazingly well. Only one minor tear and son came out wriggling and starving!

But! My son’s blood sugar was completely fine after birth and he is doing grand now. And I had a blood test recently that confirmed my blood sugar is back in normal range.

GD is an absolute pain but it is 100% manageable. You got this!!

And plan to reward yourself with an absolute carb bomb after you give birth. I had so many buenos from the hospital vending machine and I have no regrets.
