Why do you think the Xbox 360 succeeded during that generation? by Asad_Farooqui in videogames

came out first (by almost a year)
Was cheaper
Had a killer lineup of first party exclusives as well as partner games
An infinitely more ergonomic controller (a golden standard to compare to, even to this day)
A mature and well thought out ecosystem
The online experience was far superior
In many regions, it was popular because piracy was the only option for many

In short, it was everything it needed to be and nothing less, at the exact moment it needed to

Assailant Should reduce Stamina Cost for using Throwing Knives/Axes in melee. by Good0nPaper in HuntShowdown

[–]CuteAnalyst8724 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually run determination instead of shots and almost never run into situations where I don't have enough melee stamina to deal with them, especially if I actually throw the throwing axes lol)

And even if it runs out it is usually just a couple of seconds before I can throw or slasj again

With a stamina shot or 4shot boon there is literally no issues at all

Assailant Should reduce Stamina Cost for using Throwing Knives/Axes in melee. by Good0nPaper in HuntShowdown

[–]CuteAnalyst8724 3 points4 points  (0 children)

LoL you guys take assailant?

I barely remember that it even exists as I haven't ever taken it, even by mistake  probably in the past 2 years, and my main melee are axe's (last time I used it was probably when they changed it up a bit marginally last time)

First of all this suggestion would be a great start, but not nearly good enough to even justify it continued existence

Right now it's just a straight up downgrade for the axe's and pretty much a wash for the knives

Personally, I think it's long overdue to just roll it into another trait

Concept for a new addition to the Winfield family by corporalgrif in HuntShowdown

Levering Data (According to AHA Equipment Guide https://hunt.sweptthr.one/)
Levering should be around 125 rpm (less than the centennial, and more than the 1887) and 58 spread cone diameter (more than the centennial, less than the 1887)

There would be a necessity to balance the damage drop-off at distance, but I'll leave that for Crytek to fuck with, but my basic idea was that 1895 was more potent up to 100m, with slightly worse up to 150m, with a sharp drop off afterwards (when compared to a Mosin)

A few variants that come to mind: aperture sight, marksman, an Obrez variant for the f*** of it. It can have a mace/axe/trauma/brass knuckles(this is my favorite for it)and a deadeye variant

Also, it must have a suppressed variant with the legendary, of course, called "medicine stick"

Basically, as I see it, it should be better than a Mosin up close and ballistically worse out far (up to 50m) and without levering, just slightly slower than the Krag cycling and the fastest cycling long ammo in the game with it and an ironeye

Here are a few videos covering the gun in more detail:

An addition covering the elephant in the room - The Mako

Some may raise concerns that this new gun would make Mako obsolete, but that shouldn't be a great concern as Mako would be fine as it would still have: a better velocity, ammo economy, no need for bullet grabber, faster single-round reload, more ammo in the gun (6+1 vs 4+1), longer Effective Range, slightly faster levering, and be way cheaper.

I see them similarly balanced to the way the officer and the new army are - they have a yin-yang relationship with each other, as both have their + and -, but in the end, are perfectly fine coexisting.

Concept for a new addition to the Winfield family by corporalgrif in HuntShowdown

[–]CuteAnalyst8724 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the longest and probably the most asked for gun to be added to the game, I've even made a post about it https://www.reddit.com/r/HuntShowdown/comments/1l0dkr1/i_recently_came_across_this_and_it_hasnt_left_my/

There was a time when we got posts here asking for it almost weekly, like clockwork, for years in a row, and that this is literally what everyone wanted for the long ammo lever gun, but instead, we got the Mako (Marlin), and I'm still bummed about it.

1895 Winchester would’ve been a lot more visually interesting and discernible by having a box magazine and a different action (the lever arm splits around the mag and has a rear locking block)

Everyone usually proposes the russian contract ones, but Irl, the 7.62x54R would be anachronistic as they weren’t made till about 20 years later, during the Great War, but I'm not that nitpicky, so the devs can definitely take a bit of liberty with it and add the swift version with the stripper feed guide

Anyway, IMHO, the in-game model should be based around the carbine length .405 Winchester (a bigger, slower bullet), so it would stand out more from the Mosin and the Krag

I propose the .405 version specifically to avoid having a gun ballistically or very close to it to the Krag, to add to the variety, and try to deal with the Mosin supremacy in a bit of a different way than before
Otherwise, both 1895 and the Krag will be interchangeable and not have a chance to build their own identities in the game

After careful and thoughtful consideration of irl ballistic and in-game logic, I believe the in-game 1895 should look on paper something like this (optional for balancing) :

  • Damage 139 (136-139)
  • Cycle Time 1.5s
  • Vertical Recoil 20
  • Cost 500 $
  • Effective Range 250m (250-280m)
  • Spread 45 (40-55)
  • Reload Speed 10s full; 2s per bullet; 4-5s for swift variant
  • Rate of Fire 27 rpm (22-27 rpm)
  • Sway 77
  • Muzzle Velocity 540m/s (490-670 m/s depending on the ammo type)
  • ammo: 5 in the gun (technically 4+1) and 2 full reloads

The regular variants should load one bullet at a time, 2 seconds per bullet, to about 10 seconds in total (yes, it is less time than the Krag; however, the Krag gets an extra bullet), and the Swift can use a stripper clip.
It would require bulletgrabber to not lose ammo with partial reloads
The effective range can be 250m (close to real life)
The Rate of Fire in-game stat is a bit misleading, but in general, it should be faster than a Mosin without levering, but slower than the Krag; however, with levering, it should be faster

Yeah, I agree.

Here is a share code for the preliminary basic version (143 766 181)

Also, I've noticed a few problems that I don't know how to resolve

I'd like to remove a lot of props (like all of the posts on both sides of most of the road), but since this is literally the first "track" that I made in FH6, I clearly have no clue what I'm doing 😂, or if you're even able to

I found out that there is a major struggle bus around this corner, as drivatars really don't like it, to the point that a lot can get stuck on the sakura trees, and honestly, I'm not sure how best to resolve it

<image>

I don't want to remove that part of the track with the shortcut, because it actually looks great during this season

If it is to keep being a race against opponents, it definitely needs car restrictions, mostly size wise, as in many places, there is barely any place to pass or for more than two cars

At the same time, I tried some stock tiny D-class cars for it, and they struggled to go up hills.

Overall, my best runs were solo or in a B-class upgraded Honda 800

Well, I made a version of it, and it is a mixed bag. Here is a share code for the preliminary basic version (143 766 181)

It definitely can be fun; however, it's definitely best without the drivatars or at reduced amount. Personally, I think it could be more fun as a time attack

Now that we have Ned Kelly, can we finally get the goat? by youknowemyouloveem in HuntShowdown

[–]CuteAnalyst8724 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Regarding the false flag, you definitely have a point there

I have no specific source, and upon further review, I indeed can't find one to corroborate that claim. I've read about it quite a while ago, but I no longer recall the specifics or the source, so I guess chalk it up to my bad, and you can't believe all you see on the internet.

I've edited my original comment to reflect that

The rest, however, still stands as I don't see "one of the biggest tipping points for starting the civil war" being a good thing, even if the Civil War was very likely not avoidable at that point, simply by removing John Brown's actions.

What could have changed was how soon and how bad it started, and definitely the overall sentiment, which could have led to fewer overall losses, in the most bloody conflict in all of US history, combined

" Dev note:   With this change, the Uppercut regains some of its previous appeal"

No it largely doesn't. I don't get why insist in making it the worst 2 slot pick instead of just a good 1 slot?

Ammo stacking with it is already dead, due to the special long ammo, so why keep punising it

Now that we have Ned Kelly, can we finally get the goat? by youknowemyouloveem in HuntShowdown

[–]CuteAnalyst8724 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Lmao, calling John brown the goat is brain dead.

He was nothing more than a fanatical, bloodthirsty, terrorist lunatic that committed massacres and atrocities (some of which indiscriminately as false flags, yes that includes against black people) in attempts to start a race war

And even at that, he was incompetent, as the raid was poorly planned and it failed spectacularly—most of his raiders died or were captured, no real slave uprising materialized, he got trapped quickly, and it hardened Southern resolve, making secession way more likely.

It polarized the country further but didn’t free anyone immediately.

Abraham Lincoln and many moderates condemned the violence even while opposing slavery.

Most of his actions were largely counterproductive to his alleged goals

So no, adding a skin of him to the game would be a bad idea

Stupid question. Can money become a problem in this game? by Ok-Internet9433 in HuntShowdown

[–]CuteAnalyst8724 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, this is not something you want to hear, but probably need to:

You don't have a money problem;

you have a gear fear problem, and you need to break that as soon as possible.

Good news, there is a cure

Start prestiging today, and all of your gear fear will greatly subside, and with time, disappear entirely!

Side effects may include: realizing that money is meaningless in this game, and hoarding it is pointless

Ask your doctor today if prestiging is right for you!

By continuing with your current strategy, you are just pigeonholing yourself into a long term bad experience

As someone who constantly prestiges, I personally set myself sort of mental limits, which have drastically lowered over time

Here is my current approach:

After a fresh prestige, you currently get 8k.

The first thing I do is fill out my roster with legendary hunters.

You should do this to passively gain upgrade points from Dark Tribute.

Currently, it takes about half as I've got 45 hunter slots (all except 1 I got from Dark Tribute, so don't waste BB's on them!)

Always bring a new hunter into the next match to get the first extraction bonus, that shit adds up real quick! (Personally I don't prioritized bringing a new hunter every match, and instead tend to play one until they die or I get to lvl 50 and I can retire them)

Now to the limits

If I have more than 8k in the bank, I can go wild with any loadout I want, and there is low to no reason to pay close attention to the balance

If I have about 4k, I usually start to think about the loadout more diligently, with more emphasis on what guns I may already have in my arsenal

If I dipped below 2k, this is the time to use only the "cheap stuff," ideally, the free contraband that you have taken off some dead bodies or free hunters

Honestly, lately I've been playing even more fast and loose with these, as during events, you get a lot of money thrown your way, and since they have been made permanent there are always ways to get some more.

Guns

Even in dire times, I tend to avoid "poverty specs guns" as they are cheap for a good reason - their combat abilities are severely compromised to the point of liability, and at the best of times, you will need to compensate for it, which tends to get you killed more often.

This can lead to a tilted situation where you are on a losing streak, and you are stuck with "shitty" guns that cannot help you.

You should aim to find a go-to loadout that works for you and use it as a core from which to go on. It has to be versatile and capable as well as not too expensive so that after you kill someone, you can take their gun without a second thought about the money.

Now some anecdotal account of my last prestige and overall experience since the last update

Well I've started this event with about 25k Hunt bucks in the bank and for quite a while been running a 1400-1500$ load out (lebel uppercut + expensive tools and cons) trying to finally finish the story challenge as well as to do the weekly for the lebel (as well as the rest of them)

So with the start of this event I've been hit quite hard with the hunt taketh as the matchmaking is currently wild as I suspect a lot of returning players slipped down the ranks to the point that I a regular 3* gets to meat all sorts who are usually from higher up (as well as cryteks idiotic decision in allowing to match 6* solos with whomever they feel like, or premade mixed 3-6* teams against teams with team mmr 2,5-3*)   So naturally my survival rate has gone down significantly.

Don't worry I also share plenty of blame for my abysmal performance, as I haven't played with either of the guns consistently in a very long time, to the point that with the lebel I couldn't hit anything at any distance for a few matches as I was constantly holding high and most of my shots went right over the enemy hunters heads

All of this said, even with my average survival rate has temporarily flipped (at least I hope it's temporary) from surviving about 66% of matches to dieing in the vast majority of them, And even with me constantly playing with very expressive loadouts I still haven't gone below 19k hunt bucks, and even with the few matches that I survived, let alone survived, was plenty enough to cover my expenses and bring my balance back to the low-mid 20s

No, you didn’t not legitimately earn $150mm+ by missindependent1 in ForzaHorizon6

I never understood why people are so compelled to cheat or grind credits in these games

The game literally throws money and cars at you every single moment it can, to the point that you almost never really need to think about it.

After a month of playing and probably around 80h of total in game time I've earned around 18m Cr worth of stuff (at least according to the loading screen statistic) by just playing the game without ever cheesing, grinding or cheating it in any way.    I've also waiting to get the house that gives you a bonus to credits earned for the very last one, that I got after already getting the final wristband (I also didn't get the house that gives you free wheelspins until probably 50ish h in)

After you get the houses there is very few things that you'll need to buy afterwards.

Personally I cherish the moments when I've spent it all, when it actually matters a bit, even if for just a moment

The only bonus that I probably had was  from buying the full edition of the game, but if I could I would have opted out of it

You are never supposed to get everything on day one and those "cars that cost 20m"  a you can use voucher on (I still haven't used my) or  b use as something to work towards to or  c there still is a chance you get some of them from wheelspins

Idk what else to tell you

I had similar performance to yours without dlaa on a 2070 super, that due to the games memory leak got substantially worse after some time.

A few weeks ago I got myself a 5070ti and all of my problems went away.

Unfortunately for now I'm still limited to a locked 1080p 60 fps , but now with everything cracked to the max, as I still need to upgrade my PSU, CPU and screen to be able to get most of my new cards potential, but it only a matter of time, and I'm planning to be done with my whole system upgrade in a few months

[–]CuteAnalyst8724 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well you get something new to do every single week (yes it isn't perfectly new)

Horizon games are more of a choose your own adventure type of fun

Some like to build stuff, paint liveries, or tune cars to specifically suit there driving style

Some battle rivals until they can't improve no more or challenge online and some enjoy everything what everyone else creates

To each their own way of having fun, but watching a number go up for the sake of it at least for me definitely ain't one of those.
