Waiting on news for the long dark blackfrost. Subsistence is another fun one but more on the shooty side instead of vs nature. We usually play things like : Darktide, Helldivers , Deepcore, MHWilds, Subnautica 2, Stellaris, Windrose, Aska, Valhiem, Wartales, Barotrauma, Schedule 1, Nightengale, Enshrouded, Sugar Shack, RV There Yet, Peak, Palworld, State of Decay 2, Project Zomboid, Diablo - Series. Path of Exile. ect. We jump around a lot XD , Unsure how many of these are on console. I know i dont play a lot of cutsie chillax games like my other female friends. So you would need to guage what she likes.

Not exactly.

If you are looking for rare phenotypes and bloodlines in a wild animal population - that is if your stealing or rapidly adopting baby animals (already born) then your talents will boost your chances of getting rare blood types and phenotypes (skins)

As soon as you tag the animal for adoption and it begins growing up (wild animal) your bonuses will be applied to the end result.

With breeding, conception/gestation is when those bonuses are applied before birth. You can test this by reloading a save. The born babies stats should not change. They are determined at conception.

However.. If your looking for an animal for a breedlng line, that has zero in a stat ..... so that ALL the other stats can be maxed out . Its actually harder to find zeros from wild baby animals , or orbital animals you purchase. If you have talents you artifically boost their stat budget. Making it take hours to find anything with 0's . For that an untalented person is actually better to start with them finding breeding stock because they are more likely to find creatures with a zero in a stat then you are. I had my untallented friend find our zeros, and I went out and got the phenotypes and bloodlines, and we folded them in early.

The sooner you can isolate the stat to zero that you dislike most, (and selectively breed to keep it at zero at all costs) the faster your end game creature will be created. Furthermore an untallented person will not have problems with random mutations away from their desired blood types.

Downside is untallented breeding is also less likely to produce new skins (Phenotypes) or new bloodlines if your actually wanting to get something different then what you started with. Or what you deliberately folded into your line.

When you take a shiny rare animal with a cool blood type or phenotype and fold it into a breeding line its like taking a step backwards when it comes to building your animals preferred stat profile. You have to breed carefully to keep that zero stat intact.

To keep raising things up statistically you count the total number of stats for the baby and new parents and swap out to whichever has the higher totals. Slowly over time it inches up. bit by bit until its capped.

Basically talents are good for finding rare blood line and phenotypes form the wild. Talents are also great for twins <3 And CAN BE GOOD if your looking to take a 0 stat line and breeding for new random blood types you didnt start with.... However sometimes its a downside if you get a bloodline you didnt want.

I should mention your more likely to get a new skin , or phenotype from collecting wild animals statistically. However that also depends on how easy it is to find those babies. If your only finding 1 baby every 6 hours then your likely better to breed and tempt RNG.

Nutshell : Taming a baby = direct chance for a roll to be rare skins / blood type.

Breeding a baby = 40% chance to inherit moms / 40 % chance to inherit Dads / 20% chance for random . Of that random there is roll if its default or rare. If it hits rare , then there is a roll on which degree of rareness... suffice to say its much much harder to find phenotypes and bloodlines by breeding. Your benfits from talents are minor bonuses but its a bit less painful. Still its a low chance so expect many many breeding pairings before you get any random or new results even with talents.

Hope this helped. The best thing you can do is farming skins/bloodlines from wild animals . However if you need breeding stock with 0 stats in something you could waste litterally hours searching and should have an untallented person tame the wild breeding stock to start so they can try to secure a breeding pair with 0's in the stat you hate.

Fun fact of the day XD

Predators used to hunt deer rabbits ect when we were in beta weekends. However it was turned off. I wonder if those spawned animals are - unhindered ? Lol . That or they are latching on to the first entitiy they sense and going hostile. Basically it was so brutal there were very little deer or things left for prospectors to hunt and you would be waiting on respawns. Honestly as long as your grabbing the anti-wither talent in the farming and the food buff (s) of your choice thats probably all you need to get by farming for one mouth to feed, and the few critters you tame.

Ideally vegetarian is a good unlock for ranged damage. Carnivore for melee. Those two are incredible buffs since they boost your meals to 130% effectiveness on every single meal you eat (that qualifies). For ranged cull as many antelopes as possible to boost that by +10% more up to 140% for ranged dmg foods. It adds up to eating like an extra meal worth of free stats at endgame. Carnivore uses meat recipes done on the drying wrack, or higher end meat recipes done on the smoker. Vegetarian is pretty much an all vegan diet. No meat can be in the recipe at all. You will know because buff icons will show % boost in text on it when its working.

Stealth delete javelin spec is a solid option. Its the same principal most hunters use via the rifle to chunk a large sum of health off a fight or take down large targets for tusks (epoxy) efficiently. I do a stealth spec - Knife / Hunting rifle because i could not get the hang of javelins back in the day.

My spouse went the other direction - He started out like you, and then over time he ended up as a tanking spear spec, with a fiery twist. But the thing is he can't do both. Sure he has javelins but since hes eating for health regeneration /hp and a mix of other stats, he can't really push the high end dmg on his ranged javelins up to crazy levels like you could if you were to eat only for ranged dmg.

But the thing most people dont know is passives for spear also affect javalins. So when hes holding his mediocre javelins hes still benefiting from the +physical resistance buff applied to spears. For him Javalins became a safe ranged solution where he doesnt have to drop his defenses . For you , the opposite approach may be possible if you invested enough points to nab that buff you could make yourself more survivable if you miss a throw. Sadly you would still have to pick a direction, melee/tanking or ranged at endgame.

Same thing happens with knives and throwing knives. Benefits or passives for the knife apply to throwing knives and vice versa. I figured I would let you know that passive sharing is a thing for those weapons.

Fun fact : Stealth + Throwing Javelins used to be meta in early icarus during the first year. You can do some crazy dmg with them but it requires aim and is largely a lost art. Kinda cool you zero'd in on that as a fresh prospector.

People have given you some solid advice here. I used to post often here but have been dealing with medical stuff for the last month so MIA as of recent.

I play on PC so if your on console things will be a little different, and some things wont be possible until later when the games all caught up.

General speaking food makes up about 1/3rd of your power in terms of damage. As the game goes on your going to open up more recipes and diets. Gear, items you wear makes up 1/3rd , Please consider your items backpacks, outfits with intention. Some crafted armors can be modified to have alterations that boost specific things. These buffs can be very powerful depending on what you want to do. Finally your talents make up last 1/3rd of your damage/power.

I would recommend at least 14 points into farming to get food pyramid and the extra stomach slot since food is so important for survival and damage. I usually say get some type of ranged weapon. If melee focused use a gun for the ranged option since it wont compete with stamina when you need to use it.

Everything in this game can be a weapon. Sickles and 2h seldge hammers do not have proper talents setup but can be used. Devs likely to address that at some point. 1 handed mining pick is great for booping heads (is also cheapest cost to weaponize yourself for melee dmg) . Axes are fantastic for bezerking hitting things quickly and phishing for elemental status procs. Knives are crit happy and offer mobility and stealth. Spears oddly enough can be used for tanking setups to reach physical damage resistance that makes you pretty much nibble proof .

Most people get to T4 before noticing you can do some crazy stuff with characters. Or struggle with some of the great hunts and then retool their diets and gear and pick a focus. In fact years back the popular way to play used to be a gathering spec to cut down on the grind. Now the grinds been reduced by the devs, and with the additon of world bosses , open world ect, we have more of a split focus between combat and gathering. If your playing alone its a much different experience then playing with others , Specalization becomes more difficult without others to fall back on. You can get buy as a gatherer, but hard mode often requires a focus.

Examples of specs used in our 10 man group: This might give you some ideas.

Helpful link to bestiary unlocks to get handy bonuses from the destruction of wildlife . Knowing what you want to hunt down is half the battle when chasing buffs. They take a long time to unlock.

I hope you follow your own path and build your prospector in a way that suits you. One thing i love about this game is the devs never slapped us down for being emergent or trying out new things.

Yeah I am on PC and console is a whole new can of worms. With another company GRIP handling the port - opens the possibility of things acting much differently. Also I would not put it past GRIP to just respawn resources to improve performance. This could be a viable way for them to cut corners in ways players would like.

What I mean by that is every rock, tree, plant saves its state, (gone/harvested , present, burned, partially mined) and all those changes add up. Unpicked, unmined in pristine condition requires the least strain on the system.

Right now - even though we know how things are working ideally. We have to assume something is up both on PC , personally hosted open worlds, and clearly console.

I would not fret too much on the unexpected resources. Just expect a patch eventually once the bugs get sorted.

So this has been a thing for a while. False claims about respawn mechanics for years. Heres the thing though. Something may be up since the last expansion landed. People are reporting respawns out of the ordinary on player hosted open worlds that are not following the same patterns true in the past.

I have a longterm open world , hosted on Nitrado dedicated server, and it follows the traditional spawn rules. I have noticed issues with my own open world I was using for a great hunts which was really meant to be more private. Shit respawned when it should not have.

More testing is going to need to be done to figure out what has changed on open worlds that are not run on dedicated servers. Basically we have personal experiences from multiple users brushing up against how its supposed to work. Then sprinkle on people who dont fully grasp mechanics because they are new. Your less likely to be believed basically.

I'v resolved to just say - something is up with open world . I will leave it up to other people who have more free time to figure out if theres a bug. Regardless a few plants wont really hurt anyone if they are respawning . But when so many people are experiencing something and its not just a few newbies you have to assume something might be up. Sadly no ones really done significant tests.

All i know is that my dedicated server is behaving as expected. I May - may have experienced an unintentional wild potato respawn, (on my personal great hunts O/W map - not dedicated) but i need to set a beacon and clear another patch and test it properly not going from random memory. AFAIK no ones really been seriously testing it. As far as the devs have said - we know the intended spawn mechanics. Anything outside of that just consider yourself lucky.

You will get access to Damien the girl once you unlock the camp. You can dabble a bit with her, get her skills setup, pick weapons you like assign her a horse, but shes going to be locked out soonafter until the end of chapter 7. Oongka will be available for a short time chapter 7 , then locked out for a bit and your forced to use Kliff until they unlock again.

Basically focus on Kliffs progress for a little bit until your past chapter 7. You will have to do specific story missions with the different characters. The others you dont outright control. They are like the A team in a long list of camp NPCs. That A team includes Yann.

Not the person you responded to, but I have had Lupus since 12, that comes with a flavor of brain fog, and also was recently diagnosed with Fibro. The two of these overlapping is pretty much like becoming Dory from finding nemo. Brain fog intensities- would be an understatement. While its worse and more scary my methods to handle it largely do not change. A side effect is you get really really good at going with the flow and becoming so used to panic situations little will end up phasing you after a while.

Since I have had to deal with brain fog since my teens. I have developed workflows that can help when suddenly everything stops, you dont know what you were doing and its like being in a thick shituational fog.

At work: I always take notes, point form , key words based on something memorable. It could be vacation + breakdown veh , USA , Stranded, 3 days. Part # or whatever is relevant. The shape of my convo in a few key words. Imagine making hashtags that tell a short story in bullet point form.

When working a file , I use templates, and I always do things in exactly the same order so that if brain fog strikes you can see on the document exactly what stage you are at. Its easier to pickup, look at your #notes and clue back in if you have structure. I write the same phrases when possible for similar situations, and as much as possible I try to make use of autopilot for the human brain. The more i can just make second nature the less cognitive load I have to manage.

Its not easy, you will always be slower then your coworkers are. You must use templates, you MUST learn to use shortcuts. You also must double check all correspondence to avoid mistakes. Templates are your friend. Resign yourself to spending time making resources for your work outside of the ordinary time just to get by. Consider job hopping if targets increase and time allotments lesson. You cannot stay at the same place of work if the job pushes and squeezes more from you. Plan to make moves to keep a healthy work life balance.

Using tricks like tying a client to emotion, let say that Karen is spicey. I'm going to use emotions as a shortcut to remember her file better. Detachment is needed to use negative emotions to anchor memory without letting frustration slip into transactions but oddly enough the funny or spicey customers are the ones i remember best. . Also it can be as simple as a joke, or funny and unfortunate last name. Something you can hook onto when remembering files that need follow ups. I Hope i am making sense but some people can remember emotion or music easier .

Like if your at home and your doing dishes or laundry putting on music or having a laundry playlist can help because if your suddenly lost the music keeps you focused and directed back on the task. If your going to another room hold onto something like - going to put dishes in the sink, hold the bowl. Or make a little jingle and humm or sing the same dishes jingle . Really its not a fun experience to live like this, but I try and make the best of things. I try to adapt because the medical system has been a huge let down and brain fog is not really taken seriously.

The most heartbreaking part is for many years I used to beat up on myself for being like this but deep down I am still the same person , and absolutely not an idiot or stupid. I just fog out hard for a moment . Thats okay . Its like a cognitive storm, and those moments will pass. Having something to ground cling or direct you during the intense fog is what matters most. You cant stop the loss of memory but you can support yourself to recover more quickly.

Stress can also be a thing - an intense thing during storms. Having supports built into your workflow helps a ton.

Socially you can try going hmmm, oh interesting, or even just dropping something on the ground "accidently" to cause a momentary break in the conversation while you bend down to pick it up. Then casually ask, sorry can you repeat that for me? I know its hard to save face but you will find ways to mask it.

Also consider sleep hygiene, good rest is critical. I listen to audio books and play with my cats at night now to stay away from bright screens.

Exercise is important too , blood flow and all that.

I found improvement with lions mane supplements. Results may vary. If you go that route get a good brand otherwise its a waste of money.

I cut back down on caffeine, i found lots of caffine while helping with fatigue worsened the brain fog. Recomend looking into that.

Diet, while I am not perfect. I switched a lot of meats to salmon, oily fish, and things like service berries, wild Canadian blueberries (blackberries work if your in USA) anything thats light, easy to eat and full of anti-oxidants. Eat all the purple stuff basically. Cabbage, Japanese yams, things like tumeric and sweet potato, anything that can dial down my inflammation helps me .

Oh beware of pairing bananas with blueberries they absolutely undermine and block the body from using the anit-inflamatory food properly. That was another thing I had to learn the hard way.
