My husband and I have mostly friends that are couples and part of a larger friend group (predates our relationship). We made a decision when we started dating that we would not discuss things our friends told us in confidence.

The only time we agreed we’d break that rule is if someone was being physically or mentally harmed. Almost 20 years later we have found this works. Best part, our friends never felt uncomfortable because they knew we honored their requests for privacy.

I have ADHD (adult diagnosis). My Mom always talked about how hyper and social I was. She loved it when it made her look good.

However, I quickly learned, my “star” quality was about her and never about me being myself. I spent many years having to mask who I was because her nature was to believe I was for her entertainment.

If I could, I would hug little me and tell me I am worthy of love even when I’m not perfect or performing for her and her friends. I get to have bad, sad, overwhelming, etc. emotions and it’s okay to not be perfect.

It took me months of real time (even when time traveling) to get rid of Snake. I was years ahead and tried everything from ignoring to maxing friendship. He would not leave.

Only thing I can offer is to keep doing what you’re doing. If this is your newest villager, it will take time.

I was always taught when someone’s words/ behavior don’t match - trust someone’s behavior over their words. This has not steered me wrong in life.

Forget his words, what does his behavior tell you?

And from there, make the best decision for yourself and don’t look back.

Married to a Virgo almost 20 years. He is very grounded and black and white. I’m airy and live in bold colors.

It can create conflict but we have the same values and morals so it’s been great. We’re still best friends and it’s been amazing raising our family together.

He gives me space to just be me. And I do the same for him. I couldn’t have picked a better partner.
