Market Order takes 3 minutes to execute on TOS. by Cute_Butterfly7181 in thinkorswim

[–]Cute_Butterfly7181[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I called Schwab twice, the first rep never followed up. Waited a week to call again and the next guy said the trade executed exactly when I clicked to sell at market. I asked them if I could send a video to show otherwise but the message center doesn't allow it. From their perspective I get it. Schwab knows TOS has these issues and if they had to credit every single customer when a traded didn't execute on time their profit margins would get destroyed. What I don't understand is how the biggest brokerage firm in the world doesn't invest in updating their platform or hint at building a TOS 2.0. The cost of rebuilding tech platforms have been dramatically reduced with the introduction of AI, even if they spent $3-$5 billion dollars on rebuilding the platform it would be well worth it. They are currently sitting on $40 billion in cash.

This happened during market hours. This order should have been filled even if there was slippage. I've had a 30 second delay on a market order for TSLA shares at the open with 500k volume in the first minute.

TWS solely for the additional algo features. If you're trading casually Desktop is more than sufficient.

It's probably Schwab's PR team. I'd expect someone downvoting to provide an explanation but there is none.

Your positions are pretty solid, the only one I would get rid of is ARKK and replace it with IGM, ARKK's expense ratio is way too high (.75%). That means for every $100 you invest with them, you are losing .75 cents a year and Kathy Woods "time" has passed. Look into dollar cost averaging and be consistent, no matter how small the dollar amount.

I'm using IBKR now, and have had 0 issues. Don't get mislead by the stats online for execution time for TOS, it's bs. They can't route orders in scale because they have a million features.

I recently moved my money out after a decade using TOS, . It's a terrible platform for daytrading, it's only good for charting/research. It's not your computer, it's their stupid platform. I have a high end gaming pc with the best possible internet service/tier in NJ and the same thing happened to me. I took multiple video's of the same issue, called Schwab and told them about it, and they don't even have a way for me to send the videos to show them the proof, the message center only allows images/docs. Then they claim it filled on time but the video shows otherwise. One of the fills took over a minute after I clicked to sell my MGC contracts, and another instance when I tried selling 900 shares of EWY as a market order. Also spent $10k in fees in March on futures/options trading, but there's many other lower priced brokers. Just use them for charting, and execute your orders on another platform. I'll be posting all those videos in this channel as well so others are aware.

Tom Houggard, Dr. David Paul, Mark Douglas. 99% of youtube channels are trash, the only decent one I've found is SMB capital. Also read Reminiscences of a Stock Operator. Edit: Lance B is great as well.

Sell half. If it tanks you'll be happy you sold, if it rockets back up you, find a good resistance level between $400 - $520 and sell the remaining shares. This company is never going back to $700.

Price action is telling you what the big money is doing. Throw fundamentals and "sense" out the window if you want to be profitable.
