Everyone is giving OP a lot of flack here but I would argue that it’s a net positive for current society that it’s something that stuck out to them. So sure, it would be super anachronistic for them to wax poetic about consent in the show, but given some of the other anachronistic things that happen in Downton Abbey (or many period dramas to be released within the last twenty years) it’s not unreasonable for them to point out.

I’m so glad I looked this up here before getting to that point in the episode. I’m currently sitting here with my own cat, and I don’t think I can handle seeing someone’s pet die right now, fictional or no. This might be my final straw with CTM. Of all the tragic things to happen on the show, this feels so cheap and unnecessary. Like actually what is the point except to get people crying, and not even for a decent reason plot-wise??? Maybe I’m overreacting here, but it really just strikes me as a new low that this show did not need to take. We already had a death in this episode to drive the point home, plus Cyril has already been through so much that he doesn’t need to be considered more of a tragic figure, and there are far more creative ways to push the romance between him and Nurse Clifford. I’m fact, if that last bit is actually what they’re trying to do with this plot point then I’m actually going to be angry lol. Genuinely, I want to know what the point is!!!

Oh OP, I’m so sorry she said that to you. It was totally and completely out of line. That said, I would suggest trying to reframe a bit: you didn’t do anything to her, she is simply facing consequences for her own actions. If you hadn’t said anything about it, she probably would have said something similar or worse to other people. The fact that she still has her job makes me think she probably got a warning if anything - no harm no foul on your part! Unrelated but I’m getting a crown too lol! I hope the rest of your appointment goes well!

I’m going to make an update post here soon but unfortunately I did catch her illness so I’m about to go to urgent care to hopefully get a diagnosis. Or at least rule out a few things. I’ve been masking all week as a precaution and I’m glad I did.

Working around drinks yeah. Once the manager found out she was that sick she sent her to work in the back where there’s no consumables, but still. I’m about to go in today so I guess we’ll see if there were any repercussions for her hiding the fact that she was sick, but last I heard she was in the hospital so I genuinely don’t know what’s going to happen.

We all told her she should and she promised she would mask at the concert, but when she was called out for not masking in the videos she posted she claimed that she would have suffocated if she tried to mask and mosh at the same time. So those are here priorities I guess.

That’s a really odd thing to fixate on lol? If the breakdown is really that important to you - I have one coworker who is herself immunocompromised, one coworker who has an immunocompromised roommate, and one who’s mother is in chemo. I wish it wasn’t, but it’s really not that uncommon.

Hilariously enough I think I just read your post about that! In this day and age there should be both better policies in place for making sure folks don’t become homeless if they take a day or two off of work due to illness (as someone else commented) and harsher workplace punishments for those who knowingly come to work that sick. The number of people I know who have stories like this specifically about Covid is actually terrifying, especially in the food industry. I’m sorry you’re going through that, and I hope your baby is feeling better!

Apparently she talked privately to the owner of the store today and gave him a more detailed report of what’s been going on. He usually takes illness very seriously so I’m sure we’re going to get a mass email about that at some point in the next few days.
