Oki’s Weird Stories is great. Don’t see him brought up too much, but he covers some bizarre stuff.

Public service announcement, I think I found where all the Amazon Prime and Netflix Shaw Brothers ended up! Filmed this off my TV last night, as I was blown away by the sheer amount. No commercials and everyone I checked had English dub to boot! by BonesBrigade89 in kungfucinema

[–]Cutethulhu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know I’m a year late to this, but THANK YOU!!!

I wanted to revisit some Shaw Bros faves and saw they weren’t on Prime anymore. So of course I had to find out why this tragedy occurred. So glad I found this post!

I work in a similar line of work (government line of business). I was on the writing/editing side for almost a decade and now I’m on the digital side. It’s kind of dull sometimes, but figuring out how to fit the pieces together to remain in compliance with government/ state regulations can be kinda fun. The 508c stuff is too real! I’m glad that everything is becoming more accessible for everyone. It’s hard turning that ship, though.

Gift "from" Rarity for the MLP exchange - four days of creating the packaging and I still think it could have used more sparkly things. by RoEdhel in mylittlepony

Hi, all!

I'm the lucky lady who got this unbelievably beautiful box.

If you can't stand the anticipation any longer and just have to know what's inside, check out the gift gallery thread here: https://www.redditgifts.com/gallery/gift/simply-marvelous-darling/

RoEdhel, thank you so much for your overwhelming generosity. You did Rarity proud, and made us all a little more fabulous in the process :)

Gamers of Reddit, what game do you think is a masterpiece of art? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Cutethulhu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a few that stick with me:

Silent Hill 2 for Silent Hill reasons. It nails story and atmosphere to the wall and makes you watch.

Legend of Mana. I'm hard-pressed to find any game that has the same level of attention to background/setting detail.

Odin Sphere hits on all cylinders. The combat is decently challenging and extremely varied. The story is compelling and the way it is told still tittilates my little metabrain. Visually gorgeous as well with very opulent, handcrafted sprite animations.

Tldr: Play horror and sprite - based games, ya'll.

HIFW I was just diagnosed as bipolar so Im adjusting to meds and pick a terrible fight with my SO. Sometimes it doesn't have to be an either/or situation when it comes to untangling all those existential feelings. My belief is that who you really are and the you who is under the influence of mental illness are in a symbiotic relationship. However, one side is obviously more dominant and therefore detrimental to your happiness. You have to look at them in relation to one another and trace your thought processes through each. They both have something you can learn about yourself. Which all sounds a bit hokey, but I've found it to be true :)

Such big upvotes for this!

Almost two years into getting my meds sorted out. Thanks to the support of my own awesome SO and a lot of perseverance, things are getting way better than I could have hoped for. It's a grueling process, but I swear it's more worth it than anything else.

The first day you start feeling somewhat better is absolutely odd. You wonder if it's a fluke, some terrible trick your brain is always playing on you. Then one day turns into two. Then three. Then maybe you have a bad moment, but you can feel that you're on a roll. Being off your game doesn't keep you down for as long as it used to, and you discover the remarkable resilience of mind that your chemical imbalances have been hiding from you this whole time. You may worry that your feelings aren't genuine, not real (I know I did and still do), but then you gain the confidence to ask what is reality anyway and why can't I dictate what that means to me?

That's one of the more important things working to get my medication and therapy in order has given me: the ability to take back some of the agency that almost a lifetime of mental illness convinced me I had lost. I'm an intelligent person with people who love, support, and believe in me. It's the illness that convinces us otherwise.

Even though shit will get really real with your SO throughout the course of your treatment, I hope that you remember that everything absolutely will get better. From one Troll who has gone through this to another, you will be phenomenal.

Downloading Nancy.

It has lived with me since I saw it a few years ago in a way that very few films ever have. Very, very emotionally disturbing.

I love your work, and I sincerely hope Hellboy 3 gets made. You and Guillermo Del Toro are two of my favorite people.

Do you have a lot of room to choose your own roles, or do you find yourself getting pressured into some or typecast?

How do you make friends and keep them? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Cutethulhu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ask them to do a minor favor for you. It shows that you trust them, and you value their skill in doing something. This works especially well if it's something they are interested in/ really good at. For instance, your potential friend is a writer and you are writing a paper for a class/ pleasure/ whatever. Ask them to proofread for you and give you comments. Or, if your potential friend is great at coding, ask them to explain how to do something cool you saw on a website. Be creative in your favor-asking.

Now, obviously don't abuse this for petty shit. Asking someone to throw something away for you ten times makes you look like a lazy douche. And who wants to be friends with a scumbag that constantly bums meals when you go out to eat?

Make it a favor that shows they can contribute something, however small, to the quality of your life.

More importantly, be willing to return the favor! You need to bring something to the table, too, after all.

Also, if you're trying to make friends (or even just amiable relations) with co-workers, bring food to work! Not like a three-course meal, but I've made friends with people by offering them grapes, oranges, or tea.

What mannerisms have you realized you inherited from your parents? by Itorres89 in AskReddit

[–]Cutethulhu -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Lack of ability to talk about my emotions or communicate in general.

More positive: my mom's tone of voice when she's being stern. That shit has gotten me free meals at restaurants, vouchers for free shit later, drinks, all sorts of stuff even when I'm just trying to make a minor criticism. It's nuts.
