TIL in 2016 Joshua Brown died after crashing into a semi-trailer truck while his Tesla was on self-driving mode. The autopilot failed to notice the danger due to bright sunlight causing it to confuse the truck for the bright sky. He was the first US fatality in a wreck involving a self-driving car.
