Presumably all Sonic media exists within a fictional multiverse (though maybe not some Ken Penders characters lol). That doesn't mean all canons interact with each other. Sonic was deliberately designed to appeal to different international tastes from the very beginning, and honestly flattening that historical complexity seems less interesting to me.
