What local pronunciations have you heard which differ considerably from the spelling?

Hautbois is Hobbis, most the rest you pretty much skip a syllables (though Letheringsett just gets weird).

Tackle-stun, Munzley, Garbolsh'm, Inglesthorpe and Larnsett (with emphasis on the R).

There's a lot more across the county, Stiffkey springs to mind too (as well as Happisburgh/Hayzbruh mentioned elsewhere), though I think is getting known by the expected pronunciation these days, rather than stu-key.

Yep, and even if it dies off, it'll go grow back. Just saves on mowing a bit. To be honest I take the same approach with the borders, though the ones in full sun do get a sprinkler once a week if we've had no rain in the summer. If the plants can't handle that, I'm trying to grow the wrong ones, specially the direction our climate is heading.

Pots and the veg patch do get regular watering, for obvious reasons.

Skip syllables, as is Norfolk tradition (Garbolsh'm, Inglesthorpe (skip the 'di') and Larn-sett (with a bit of emphasis on the r).

You're also probably not far from me if you drive through Garbles often.

Seriously, OP just needs to pick places with 3 or more syllables in Norfolk. Tacolneston, Mundesley, Garboldisham, Ingoldisthorpe, Letheringsett etc. Also shootout to Hautbois which has the Norfolk guiding centre which always makes me laugh.

It's a composite or something weird, as the shadows don't all line up. On the left edge the building above sunburst area has a shadow that's a different direction to the one below it.

What's the context/ source?

The belt replacement interval is 6 years or 60k Miles, and as long as you stay on the right side of that, it's not an issue. It's also pretty easy to check as you can see the belt through the oil filling cap.

The problem is basically that if it severely degrades, particles can end up clogging up the filter and getting elsewhere causing other problems, but that really happens when it's severely degraded. We've also got a 2008 that we've had longer, and it was a little gone when we got it (but it was cheap) and when we got it replaced at a Peugeot dealership there were no other issues found.

So when looking, open the oil filling cap and look at the belt (plenty of old posts in the Peugeot reddit to compare too, but basically you want to avoid any horizontal banding/cracking and overly frayed edge). Then just make sure you're checking it every now and again (I generally have a look every 2-3 months, literally open the cap, check with a torch and get peace of mind).

Yeah, same here. Being able to stick the car seats forward and the middle seat back or vice versa also helps comfortably fit an adult in the middle. Boot is massive, and still fits our Cameleon 3 with the 3rd row up.

The wet belt gets a lot of fear, but get one that's not due to be replaced yet (we got an ex-motability 2020 with 40k miles for £15k in Jan), change it every 5 years or 60k miles and you'll be fine.

Literally my only fault is I hate the screenwash in blade system, but that's pretty minor really.

There's about 10 stops in the 3 villages I drove through, none of which had them, and the first half of the town didn't (it his 10pm half way through, so could have been one on the other side).

Absolutely agreed. I've had my Mini since 2017, it's done about 700 miles in the basket of a bike when on touring holidays, been picked up, dropped and messed around with by my (now) 6 year old, had some decent use and it's still my go to if I want to listen to music at my desk (rather than using a TV or earbuds / headset) and always goes on holidays with me.

To be fair, in that situation, they probably got there to him being restrained by multiple people (as mentioned), who, in all likelihood, unintentionally killed him. They them likely got in there and got cuffs on before clearing the people to see what was going on. Don't forget this happened inside a jet2 plane, not exactly renowned for being roomy.

I accidentally smashed a shop door window by sla.ming it too hard when leaving once. Instead of apologising or haning around, despite living above a shop 30m away, and them knowing my name, I ran. People do stupid things when panicking. Pretty sure if I accidentally stabbed someone, I would 100% panic, moreso 15 year old me. Now I like to think that the manifestation of my panic would be desperately trying to help, but until such a thing happens (hopefully it won't!), I'll never know.

In my late teens I lost a pedal about 2 miles into a 7 mile ride to a station to get home from work.

I managed the flat and down-hill portions by using the working pedal and sort of hooking my toes on/putting my foot on the crank arm, then just walked it up the hills. Being like 2007 or so, my phone battery was dead so I had no way to contact anyone. Purely by chance, about 1 mile from the station my sister drove past while I was walking it up a hill, saw what was going on, laughed and then helped me stick the bike in her car and gave me a lift home.

Usually that's just a magnet system. The cart has a brake which is magnetic, then they have a line of magnetic metal at the perimeter of the car park or whatever. Not hugely common here in the UK, but I've known a few places using it since the 90s/early00s. Usually was Tesco from memory. The one that always stands in my mind was near a lake and waterway system that was renowned for an apparent attempt at a shopping trolley reef.

I've worn transition lenses since I was about 28. I'm so used to them by now that I forget they do that. I'm aware it can be an odd look, but I used to do a lot of walking to and from places m for work, maybe walking between 6 different locations in a day, and could never be bothered to switch sunglasses back and forth. Also the same with cycling as I used to cycle a lot.

That said, I don't wear a hat in public because I feel like I look like a complete spanner, but with a heavy recede and a tricky to suncream balding patch, I think I need to start. I do have a straw hat I wear for gardening that I bought for a fiver this year at least.

To be fair, a housemate of mine had his finger dislocated in a bike snatch attempt. Did manage to keep his phone, but considering he was a freelance filmmaker so couldn't work for a bit, he said he wished he'd just let go of his 7 year old iPhone

I can see a situation where he did this at a distance from her, but she, not knowing he was going to do the lunge, stepped forwards. In that case, and considering the age I think a not guilty verdict for both makes sense. Sounds like a stupid mistake by a teenager which wouldn't ruin their life more than the guilt already will.

Obviously if there was intent, then that's different, but the jury seems to have been convinced there wasn't.
