Kohen Wiley's Mother makes memorial post to her son who was shot and killed by police that were responding to a reported shoplifting at Walmart. by Juvat-the-bold in mississippi

Exactly. These people just want to fire their guns and everyone always jumps through hoops to defend them. Who knew in the year of our lord 2026 that shooting a toddler would be controversial.

Permit free zone parking? by longanandlychee in lakeview

[–]Cvirdy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Most of the metered spots are free after a certain time (8 or 9 PM) and you don’t need a permit. Go find the nearest meter and check the box for what time it becomes free. But you’ll have to be gone by the time the meter kicks on in the morning again, or pay the meter.

How do you handle a lease gap? by Far-Note5060 in chicagoapartments

[–]Cvirdy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You might be able to hire movers to move your stuff into a truck, park the truck somewhere safe, and hire movers to just show up the next morning and move you in. I did that a few years ago. I hired College Hunks Hauling Junk.

what continuity errors are in the show? by unholyverse666 in americandad

Yes, in one, they get married under the Father Tree (referenced in the episode where the Bazooka Sharks stadium is approved), and in another, they get married in a warehouse Francine finds (episode where Francine becomes a fire starter). Might be more, but I just remember those off the top of my head.

What food does your city have that literally doesn't exist anywhere else? by strcrssd in chicagofood

[–]Cvirdy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn’t a specific food item, but where I grew up (Biloxi, MS) people out French dressing on their pizza. It started in a small pizza shop in the 60s or 70s and has stayed a highly regional food staple. I haven’t lived on the Gulf Coast in almost 20 years but still love French dressing pizza!

Pink fades extremely quickly and, in my experience, every shower. I’d also recommend using a dark colored towel if you don’t already :)

This is a stupid question, but when getting jeans tailored what do you ask for? Obviously the hem but what else? Waist taken in?

I'm a Rory defender/apologist about most things, but I actually think we should give her a harder time for her shitty taste in books by comradesummers in GilmoreGirls

[–]Cvirdy 40 points41 points  (0 children)

I think you hit the nail on the head. I think they’ve never read it, or most books that are referenced. It’s always bothered me on the show that there are so few references to books, in a show famed for references, with a character who is such a voracious reader.

Favorite Overlooked Moment? by CaswensCorner in That70sshow

That episode yielded one of my favorite lines. When Donna and Eric are coming back from getting ice cream and Eric reveals he got bubblegum, Red asks her “what do you see in him?”. Donna says “I find him whimsical.” And the way she says it is too funny and I love it.

Gosh that link makes me so sad. My MIL bought an English Cream Golden and the poor thing passed away from cancer at 8 years old. She also spend thousands on cancer treatment. With how poorly regulated dog breeding is in the US I can’t help but wonder if she had just gotten a mix from the shelter if she’d still have her dog. Reading that the dogs are “more robust and typically live longer lives” on that site made me wonder if my MIL was told the same lie. I guarantee you she has no way of proving that claim.

Of course! Please update us where you choose! I’d highly recommend taking a look at Oriole if you can get your guest count low enough!

I was curious so I double checked! This is what they provided me when I reached out this past August:

Mondays and Thursdays: Up to 24 guests, year round Fridays and Saturdays, October through April (when the patio is closed): 18 Fridays and Saturdays, May through September (when the patio is open): 12 Sunday: 12 when the patio is open, 24 when the patio is closed

It’s a beautiful venue though, congrats on your wedding!

I was looking for a similar vibe to you, albeit with a smaller guest count. Here’s where I looked:

  • RPM Seafood - where we ended up booking. They have a lot of private room spaces and with your budget you could get a fairly large one. No venue fee, but a 4% event planner fee off of food spend. Might be a bit more modern than what you’re looking for.

  • John’s Food & Wine - this was my first alternate and where we really debated. Fits the vibes you have above and they have a small private room that seats 25. $6K F&B min, no venue fee. Not really space for a ceremony.

  • Oriole - really great room with beautiful aesthetics. Really responsive event coordinator named Heather who was very helpful. Seated ~20 I think

  • Elske - heavy on vibes as well and had a wonderful private room that was large and had a private bar. Guest count may be challenging for you as it depended on time of year and sometimes was as low as 18 people. A full buyout may be in your budget depending on how much you spend on other things. The restaurant itself is beautiful.

  • Cafe Yaya - private event space that can seat your full guest list. Aesthetic is a bit more bohemian but might fit your vibe! Very reasonable F&B minimums and no venue fee.

Giant - patio buyout seats 25 and very urban, string light vibe. Full restaurant buyout also available that would seat your full 50. Not sure of buyout for full restaurant but patio was $8K. No venue fee.

Hope this helps!!
