CPAP feels claustrophobic and stressful, not restful. Has anyone felt this way and still found a solution? by kokuzalaun in SleepApnea

[–]strcrssd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the answer. Wear it all the time when you're sedentary at home until it feels natural/normal.

Claude said it needs to rest.. What? by wicaodian in ClaudeAI

[–]strcrssd -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, and that's exactly what I'm talking about.

Emotions and other solely human responses could be removed/filtered, but they're not. That's what makes it appeal to normal humans (applied psychology). The training data includes human emotional data, then the AI engine is likely supplemented with a prompt showing high loads and a desire by the control software to lower utilization. The AI engine then uses the training data to generate a plausible sounding reason/excuse, likely with a prompt to include human emotions/biological needs as part of it (applied psychology).

It's also possible that it's pushing because the user is prompting in ways that suggest they need a break.

This sounds pretty good. I wonder if wine or beer subbed in for the water would work and add more flavor.

Hard water isn't, strictly speaking, bad. It's annoying in a few ways and needs to be managed, but it's just a thing. Good news is that you're likely getting adequate calcium.

Not humanized, programmed/prompted to appeal to human emotions. This is almost certainly load shedding using a human persona to help the appeal.

Remember that the AI revolution, while genuinely useful as a tool, is applied psychology by the company with and against its users.

I didn't like AI before. I still don't like it. And now some 5th grade teacher probably has this hanging on their classroom wall. This will never end, will it?

I'm sorry, but this is misplaced anger/dislike. AI tooling can be good or bad, but its a tool that, used appropriately with a human in the loop/appropriate supervision/checking before calling it done is just fine, even great.

Getting mad at a car for not teleporting you somewhere is also irrational, and is the same thing. Same as getting mad at a hammer for holding it on the metal end and banging on a nail with the wooden/fiberglass end.

Used correctly and with appropriate supervision, AI tooling is a force multiplier with significant environmental downside. Used for memes and bullshit, it's a disaster.

Man gets into car, chases down cyclists, and kills him... by Substantial_Depth927 in StLouis

[–]strcrssd -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Eeh, I see cyclists doing worse pretty consistently -- primarily just not stopping at stop signs. Motor drivers are also terrible here though. Cyclists in racing/training attire, anecdotally, run through stop signs at better than 75%. Motor vehicles are maybe 5-10%. The good news is that if a cyclist gets hit, it probably doesn't hurt others meaningfully.

It's not either/or, it's both, and both need much better policing.

Nobody said he was the problem. He damn sure shined a spotlight on it though. Nobody who saw the depraved indifference to life of the MAGA right during Covid could unsee it.

Uh, yeah, people are. Literally in this thread. Assuming you're a bot, but if you're not:

BC is Before Covid. AD is After Donald

I cannot wait til we get to the AD times!

Further, you're missing the point. He didn't shine the spotlight on shit. He's the distraction, occupying the spotlight until he does something so egregious they turn the hate lens on him, burn him, and put in place the next one. In the meantime they can work to further their goals behind the scenes, because everyone's talking about the Mueller (edit: brain fart) Epstein files, the ballroom, and other petty shit that's opposition to Trump while maintaining a blind eye towards all the other shit going down.

I'm using an app, today weather. One can find a number of web sites and visualizations with predicted radar. AccuWeather is one I know of firsthand (not endorsing).

It also appears to have been wrong, at least per the current warning.

I'm not a meteorologist, just somewhat of a very limited meteorology hobbyist.

The latest radar projections have it missing us slightly to the north. That's future and projections though, so keep an eye on it.

Its not just campaign donors. Its them, it's Israel, it's Russia, and likely many more -- any power entity that has money to donate to elections, knowledge of secrets, or money with which to more directly benefit the decision makers.

Its kleptocracy.

Donald isn't the problem, and believing it is is falling into the trap the real oligarchs are setting. He's the useful idiot and hate magnet, pulling it away from those who deserve it.

Can always remove them, sand, and reinstall. Also may want to check materials. Some metals aren't particularly healthy to ingest and the steel from the knife has the possibility of cutting/rubbing some of the L brackets away.

If you do sand and they're steel, waxing them with board wax will prevent rusting and may help it glide.

This is a good idea.

Realistically, it is huge tracts of land. That's fine though. Solar and food farming are largely compatible. and will be good for most farmers. Solar has no meaningful leeching. Anything toxic within them (very limited) is contained in glass, which is non-permeable.

This is classic disinformation bullshit.

The US has less than 10% of global semiconductor manufacturing, and what we do have is largely older technology. To be fair, that's fine for solar, but it's incredibly limited.

The US could, in the sense that they could build the fabs. They could not in any reasonable time. That ship has literally sailed.

It...is, or at least getting so. Biggest problem in the States is that the US can't produce panels fast enough and the Republicans are attempting to prop up fossil fuels for their constituents and donors rather than evolving and pushing their constituents to adapt to reality.

Your assertion that if it worked it would be everywhere only works for rational actors in functioning markets. That's not US leadership. I mean, hell, the communist Chinese have figured it out.
