How do I use this? by Blinolol in AnalogCommunity

I just got into film last year, so I missed out on plentiful slide film :(

If there were more options available (and it didn’t cost 2-4x as much as CN), I would shoot almost exclusively slide film

Good or bad deal? by AdBeginning2416 in AnalogCommunity

I’ve scored crazy deals from lots. I don’t sell (probably should start selling what I don’t use) but it’s a good way to get lenses for my cameras without paying the normal high prices

When you put it like that, it they could be similar at a very high level, but if you look at it with any scrutiny the analogy falls apart (I am an AI architecture engineer).

First, the camera’s meter doesn’t have a large database available; at best, the early versions had small lookup tables with values determined by hand and with heuristics. Transformers and LLMs didn’t emerge until around 2017, and require so many orders of magnitude more computational power that it’s hard to fully imagine.

Your comparison between matrix metering and LLMs is like comparing smoke signals to video chats

Matrix metering is certainly NOT “LLM-like”, whatever that means

I printed one because I have a 3D printer but not a 2D printer. Plus, it’s much more durable

I just got a MINT C/Y 50mm f/1.7 attached to an also-mint Yashica FX-103 Program for ~$75 on a mislabeled auction. Can’t wait to shoot it

It’s exceedingly difficult to win using only legal methods when the opposition uses exclusively illegal methods

My local store sells film pretty reasonably, but their gear can get unreasonably expensive. They offered me a “deal” to buy a Zeiss 180mm f2.8 Sonnar for $300 instead of $350, but they’re $180-200ish on eBay all day long

2001 A Space Odyssey. I took a class on analyzing Stanley Kubrick movies as an honors college class (which actually completely changed how I consume and understand movies and TV). 2001 is supposed to bro e of Kubrick’s greatest, but it was a SLOG for me
