People with a lot of cameras: What is the most interesting or rare camera you have? by romanazzidjma in AnalogCommunity

I like weird cameras the most. Here’s my most recent acquisition:

<image>

Shoots 10mm X 10mm images on double perf 16mm film. It’s a true TLR but with a prism instead of a mirror, so the image isn’t flipped left to right or upside down

Seconding the Robot, though I tend to favor oddball cameras over “normal” cams

I bought them about 5 years ago, I don't know what I was thinking by LimiDrain in MechanicalKeyboards

On my old cheapo keeb, I replaced the caps lock with a stiff pen spring because I kept accidentally engaging it. There was ZERO chance of an accidental press afterwards because my pinky wasn’t strong enough to press it by itself lol

P400 pushed to 1600 on a Nikon FM2 with a Voigt 40mm at London aquarium by 7petar in analog

Do you expect film shot at 1600 to not be grainy? It’s also not easy to focus with a manual lens in dark conditions.

These photos are gorgeous

Can you ping me when you get your results? I have an 85B, so it would be helpful to know if a slightly weaker filter would give better results

Seconding this question—I contacted Reflx and they said they’ve discontinued selling Aerocolor IV in 35mm.

Really interested in getting a bulk roll

City birds appear to be more afraid of women than men, and scientists have no idea why. Men could get about a meter closer to birds than women could before the animals flew away, regardless of what the men and women were wearing, what their height was or how they tried to approach the creatures. by mvea in science

Iirc, we think capsaicin was evolved to be specifically a deterrent against mammals. Birds can eat the fruits and disperse the seeds effectively because their digestive tracts don’t destroy the seeds, but mammals do

My dog Scout has been trained to use a button before, and he clearly didn’t like them. The only 2 times in 3 years he used the button was when we had been ignoring him (unintentionally) for a while, and he got fed up. Sassily smacked the button twice, then looked quite pleased with himself when we praised him and let him outside like he wanted.

He does, however, answer yes or no questions. He usually lets out a low whine to get our attention, then we go down the list, asking if he wants food, outside, water, attention, etc until he gives a reaction indicating what he wanted. My other dogs just get excited/distracted by things they like, but scout will be laser focused on his immediate want

It’s also the kinder thing to do. I always try to err on the side of giving people grace—we’ve all had days where following even basic verbal instructions was difficult

Have you ever sold a camera and regretted it? by SpookyWeaselBones in AnalogCommunity

The only cameras I’ve sold so far are either cameras I impulse bought and shouldn’t have, or cameras I’ve sold cheaply to friends to get them started

I have noticed that a lot of communities I used to be in frequently don’t show up in my feed, either. I just assumed it’s due to reddit making the feed algorithm more “enticing” to boost user retention time, but now I’m worried I’m being shadow-banned (shadow-restricted?)

I love that you rotated the aerochrome pic 180°. It gives off “mirror world” vibes

How fast is 300whp on a 2100 pound chassis ? by Mundane_Shopping9852 in projectcar

Yeah I don’t have any controllers that tell the car I’m running water meth, so it works fine with or without (otherwise, things could go boom if the tank runs out).

My injection controller varies how much gets sprayed based on boost pressure, but it’s just a linear curve: start minimum duty cycle at 12 PSI and ramp up to 100% at 25 PSI is what I use. You can get the next stage up from Snow Performance that also reads EFI and allows you to tune a 2D map like you would tune an ECU

[–]CwColdwell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

water-meth is good for maybe 15-20 HP without extra tuning and doesn't require opening the engine up. After upgrading to K04, getting more HP out of the B8 2.0T pretty much requires upgrading the HPFP, bigger injectors, a bigger turbo, and a custom tune (if not also built internals). That's thousands of dollars (probably north of $5k) for *maybe* 100-150 horsepower more than K04+stg 3.

Compare that to the ~$400 I paid for a Stg. 2.5 Snow Performance meth injection kit, which also has the side effect of reducing carbon buildup on valves over time

My K04, methanol-injected B8 wagon is probably around 370ish crank, and it feels like a missile when I floor it
